I still think the Princeton and deluxe has been and always will be fenders best offerings because of perfect balance of sound , recording, & practicality .

i watched your video about 4 different types of strings. man im telling you on my epi LP any other strings rings loud but cobalts pure Howell and feel way better then any ive tried. the ddario are close 2nd. and a eq in the fx loop of a marshall is insanely powerful sounding just by making a little smiley face ot soft V. i mean like from 100 soldiers marching to 1000 soldiers marching powerful. i set the frequencies like i want then pull the level lever way down so i can turn all amp knobs to 10 without killing my ears. its amazing. i only wanted to share so others maybe can enjoy.

My favorite was the Vibroverb. Wish I could hear them all over again with clean and chimey settings.
The Showman through the JBL D130F really helped underscore how little I care for that particular speaker. It's a surprise to me, because it seems like it would be perfect for my "clean" taste - at least on paper. But... no!

you notice how he use big ear muffs like shooting range rear protection with the twin but not any others? I have the Peavey version of the train and it's the loudest amp I've ever encountered. 180 wats of 6l6 power is nothing to disrespect make sure you have your ear protection cuz this amp knocks does down and rattles the whole house big time. 2x12 Peavey heritage with huge heavy magnets 80 watt speakers is no joke.

it has always fascinated me how at different times different BF amps were in vogue. Back in the late eighties and early nineties Super Reverbs were the shit. Back in the late eighties nobody wanted Vibroluxes or Princeton Reverbs. Then in the nineties Vibroluxes were THE HOT ITEM. Deluxe Reverbs have never gone out of vogue though. For the longest time NOBODY wanted Pro Reverbs either. You could always get them for less than the other BF reverb combos. Now the Pro Reverb is hot. So is the Princeton Reverb. The Deluxe is always in demand. Now you can't give away a Twin or Super Reverb,( and Vibroluxes have lost some of their shine too. )They are way cheaper than their smaller BF counterparts. Volumes have come way down in the clubs and PAs are so much better now, so you can mic just about anything. For me the Fender Deluxe Reverb is the all around best BF Reverb combo to have if you are going to have just one.

The Twin eats everything. Of course, I’m biased because I have one.

I love that, 9 Blackface Amps and not a hint of sparkly clean, mid scooped "fender sound", i love my fender amps that way

The Vibroverb is similar to my 1965 Princeton non-reverb regarding headroom. Near impossible to get much breakup with single coils, but a gorgeous clean tone.

I agree. I had never heard of it either, but really liked it with both guitars. Oddly, I thought most of the others sounded best with the LP. They seemed to get kinda muddy with the Strat.

That deluxe reverb surprised me. The showman and bassman and fender twin are my favorites.

sounds like the bass is flubby on some of the amps here low end distortion but the Vibroverb handled it the best super clean.

Ear protection with the twin reverb, suggests this amp is really loud. Oh Wait it is. I love the Jensen speakers the best. They are what give the fender chime I guess.
I don't know what it is about this specific area time of amps. I've looked trough the circuits and they are essentially all the same. Except for output tubes and they're related wattage. But they sound so much better then the newly produced amps.

Whenever I hear Johan.... it sounds the same no matter what amp he uses. Magic.

From a recording / miced up point of view, the vibrochamp is my favourite tone. It's just nicely balanced compared to the other amps. Its funny how different/inconsistent all these amps can sound, you expect there to be more tonal similarity with the sound just getting 'bigger' across the range, but they all have fairly unique tonal characteristics in this vid. Makes you wonder what thay classic 'fender sound' really is? It would be interesting to hear some of these through the same cab so the sound isn't affected so much by diff speaker configurations.

I have a Feb '65 Deluxe and a June '65 Super. Run them at the same time through a good ABY. The mid/gain stacking with Tumnus Deluxe and Apex 808 out in front is just insane.

Fender knows that if they reissued the BF/SF Vibro Champ, it would render so many other models in their lineup obsolete. It's the perfect small amp.

By scrolling to where I can't see the video, I'd be VERY hard pressed to tell one from another. Meaning if you can mic a Champ, why would you own, maintain, and drag around a Twin or Showman? Of course if you want/need Trem and Reverb you'll want a Princeton Reverb. Our gigs are small now, a little at church and a few family events, so my 1974 Vibrolux is more than enough. Still, I admit the looks of a Bassman , Showman and the big cabs are awesome.
