- To celebrate the 2012 Playing For Change Day, the Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) partnered with a number of local filmmakers, musicians, and students to make our own video in the style of the Playing For Change "Songs Around The World" series. We chose to feature the song "Be In Love" by Portland's own Dominic Lavoie (www.dominiclavoie.net). In conjunction with the video MAMM hosted the second annual "Playing For Change ~ Playing For Maine", a series of local concerts in some of Portland's best live music venues, all to raise awareness about the value of music education in the lives of young people around the globe.
We would like to thank David Meiklejohn (producer), Jim Begley (mixing engineer), Adam Ayan (mastering engineer), all of the participating musicians and filmmakers, and our video sponsors: Asylum, Brian Boru, Dogfish Bar & Grille, Gritty McDuff's, and Portland Lobster Company.

I'm a music teacher in Auburn and I keep coming back to this video every so often. Today it's because I'm teaching music from home, and I had the idea of trying something similar with my students. My elementary kids were supposed to have their concerts in March (Music In Our Schools Month), and they had to be cancelled. I've been meeting with them (and my private students) via Zoom, and a 3rd grader sent me a link to the Playing for Change video of "Stand By Me", asking if we could do something like that. I sent her this link in reply, and we're brainstorming just the right thing to do. She wants to do a dance version of some song. I just thought I'd pop in and leave a comment during this time of social distancing due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Excellent job on this great song.
