Please tell me if you have ever been to any of these, or have plans to go there.Thank you !
+sergio hernandez Jonathan is amazing, but he is only one of a huge list of people who've inspired me : Alexandr Oparin (soviet biochemist who was the first man to assume that Life began in the oceans); Alexander von Humboldt (prussian explorer who traveled around the globe, describing many marine species); Alfred Russel Wallace (british naturalist who, along with Darwin, first convieved the theory of evolution through natural selection); Carl Woese (american microbiologist who divided the tree of life into three distinct branches : Bacteria, Archea and Eucarya); Charles Darwin (british naturalist who, along with Wallace, first concieved the theory of evolution through natural selection); Chris Packham (english naturalist who is known for hosting many BBC wildlife programmes including "Springwatch", "The Wonder of Animals" and "Nature's Weirdest Events"); David Attenborough (british broadcaster and naturalist who is best known for presenting the "Life" series and narrating many more documentaries); Edith Widder (american marine biologist who is an expert in bioluminescence and one of the team who successfully filmed a giant squid underwater); Ernst Haeckel (german biologist who mapped a genealogical tree relating all life forms); Gerhard Jarms (german scientist who is one of the most renowned medusae scientists in the world); Jim Al-Khalili (iraqi-born british theoretical physicist who has used the theory of quantum mechanics to explain many biological events); John Veron (australian specialist in corals and reefs who has discovered and described hundreds of new coral species); Jonathan Bird (american cinematographer and diver who is best known for being the host of BlueWorldTV); Kate Humble (english television presenter who has presented a number of wildlife and science programmes for the BBC); Mary Anning (british fossil collector and palaeontologist who is best known for making major discoveries among Jurassic marine fossil beds, including a complete skeleton of an icthyosaur); Mike deGruy (american underwater photographer who is best known for filming most of the scenes of "Life in the Freezer", "The Blue Planet" and "Pacific Abyss"); Richard Dawkins (english ethologist and evolutionary biologist who is well-known for many works on evolution); Steve Backshall (english natiralist who is best-known for presenting BBC's "Deadly 60" and for diving with many dangerous animals including great white shark, electric eel and sperm whale); Steve O'Shea (new zealander marine biologist who is known for his reshearch on giant squid and for being part of the team who first filmed it underwater); Tsunemi Kubodera (japanese zoologist who was one of the team who successfully filmed a live giant squid underwater).
+BlueWorldTV I liked the older tune more... This new one is cool, but needs some fixing in the mix. Still... I don't really think it works better than the previous one with the theme of the whole channel, but those decisions are up to you guys :) Keep doing these videos, they're amazing!
Having just finished my Full Cave certification in Tulum, Mexico I wanted to rewatch some of the videos that inspired me. Jonathan, this is one of the videos that peaked my interest the most and got me excited about it. It took a few years of training to reach the required skill and comfort level but it was so worth it. The training is fun and the Mexican cenotes are beautiful. Can't wait to visit Brian in the Bahamas someday soon.
Hey Jonathan and crew I'm not sure you remember me but I was just a simple person with a dream to dive for a livng but for economic reasons I couldn't enroll on a course or much less buy my gear. Still after maybe three years I'm enrolling on my advanced course and own my own gear. With hard work and patience almost anything is possible and I wanted to thank you for inspiring me and many many others to learn and protect our blue world. I hope that someday I am able to help our oceans in a relevant way and you guys keep doing such a great job. I've never been happier and if anyone else is reading this all I say is I thought I would never be able to be where I am now but such is life. If you really want it go and get it...!!! It is never too late...
+Chris Spayd Thanks Chris. We stayed with Brian for a few days after my course was over and filmed in the "Crystal Cave" which is the most amazing place I have ever seen. That will be another episode in a couple months--just so we don't put cave videos back to back. Next month we need some sharks!
I knew scuba diving, especially cave diving, is not that easy but until now I never realized how much attention to details and care is needed, even for just making the very first step into a cave, and for safety reasons. Jonathan, at certain points in the cave, are you sure that there was water in them? I was amazed by the clarity and stillness of the water. You three seemed like your were floating in mid air. Thanks for this great video! You and your team do a marvellous job! Keep it up, all of you. Oh, by the way, Jonathan, congratulations for you cave diving certificate achievement.
+Mark Said Thanks Mark! It was really fun and challenging and I really had a great time doing it. There was no question that I had to learn new skills and be pushed to new limits.
Came here from Dive Talk....love yr content.FangornForest-yay, stunning and props to yr cameraman.really saw water clarity and the sheer beauty within.thankyouxx
I’m glad this video was made. It can help many people to attest consider the safety issues required. Having confidance in diving gear equipment and knowing what experience cave diving might demand is very useful. Knowing all the tips, rules, techniques and terminology is key for a safe cave diving experience. I do appreciate the style of reconfigured equipment placement is necessary. Almost 100% of the deaths associated with cave diving are by untrained divers. Among properly trained cave divers operating within the rules, cave diving is extremely safe. But since there are so many deaths from untrained divers, the sport is considered dangerous.
A Full Cave diving Certification is useless unless you’re prepared to spend time keeping your skills polished and doing at least one cave dive every month perhaps more often. You will quickly lose your edge if you don’t practice these skills and become a danger to yourself. This is the main reason I never got the full cave certification
My reward is what I have just seen! Beauty of a cave thats blows your mind. Thanks to Brian Kakuk in teaching cave diving to are esteem host. Who knows how to captivate the viewer in every way. Thank You Jonathan! "Who's # 1" Next time give me a guild line as I watch, I could get lost in seeing those formations, in the windows of my mind.
I love watching your videos so much Jonathan!! They are so interesting and you truly are such an inspiring person!! I cried when you got your cave diving certification haha!! Don't ever stop doing what your doing!! I'm your number 1 fan!! Xxx
Im becoming a certifided scuba diver!!!!! I want to be just like you one day!!!! Your my hero. I love what you do. Im 13 right now. I went on a cruise to the bahamas and scuba dived for the first time!! It was awesome!!! One day i hope i can go scuba diving with you. Your amazing.
+Dragon_Slayer Yay!!! I'll tell Bruce, he will be happy to hear that not everyone wants us to go back to the other one. Hey, the other theme is on over 100 episodes if you want to hear it!! ;-)
It's a bummer that Zach can't do the "zero to hero" class that I did and just bang it all out in 8-9 days. He is doing each of the 4 classes on a different shoot because we can't spare him for the whole time.
Wow, you need a wetsuit for 75 degree water. Johnathan Bird, you may call me crazy but I went swimming shirtless on a 42 degree water and didn't get sick!
+sergio hernandez So the funny thing is that most people wear a 5mm or even a 7mm suit in those caves because the dives are so long (2+ hours). Believe it or not, 2 hours in 75° water gets colder than you think. When I showed up with a 3mm, Brian was afraid I wouldn't be able to make it through the dives without being cold. As it turns out the 3mm was fine for me because I'm hot blooded and I wear a hood.
Such an awesome experience! Between your videos, and my buddy’s enthusiasm to get cave certified, I may have to do it as well - although I feel like I have a long way to go before I’m ready for caves.
As a general rule, you should not start cave training until you have at least 100 logged dives and you are super comfortable with diving, and confident of your skills.
@@BlueWorldTV I’m well aware of the importance of being experienced and comfortable with all the skills before embarking on cave diving. I’m happy to spend the time to gain skills and progress with that as a potential eventuality, even if it never happens. There is always something fun and interesting to explore underwater.
What a great dive and thanks for sharing details about cave diving. With the details and technical language. I would like to be able to include this video on my website to help people learn about cave diving. Thank you very much
+Sir Gamer We wanted to give the 5th season a little new flavor so we had Bruce Zimmerman (series composer) come up with an "Indiana Jones" flair version of the theme. I know it's weird at first. It will grow on you though. I still am not used to it.
There was always something about cave diving which intrigued me..after watching the episodes I am sure I am doing this ..this is marvellous thanks jonathon..🌊
+Jalen Madrid Force Fins are designed to give power on only one stroke, and fold up and allow your leg to rest on the return stroke. For free diving (which involves surface swimming) this method of operation doesn't work well, and the same thing with the "frog" kick we use in cave diving. So Force Fins are excellent general purpose scuba fins (the best made in my opinion) but they are not good for snorkeling, free diving or cave diving.
Hello...my son is 6yrs old named Dereck and he loves watching your videos. He has learned much from you. He wants me to tell you that as soon as he learns to swim he hopes he can swim with you one day!!!
+BlueWorldTV Jonathan, by the way I would really really like if you could go diving in Brazil, in the city of Fernando De Noronha, one of the most beatiful places in the world! You should search in up! You can go snorquel and scuba Diving and there are so many other different programs!
+Ray Bugtai We released our season 4 "Behind the scenes" as the final episode of season 4 after the artificial reefs. ruclips.net/video/PQCLZH5CbT8/видео.html
BlueWorldTV Oh,Ok I thought you are very short of funds or something that's why you are not posting diving videos...Great video by the way..Keep on doing them :) sorry for the complains..
could you please make a series about diving tips and tricks, like in equipment and for new divers. Because you are obviously an experienced diver, thanks. by the way, i love your videos, they combine my 3 passions, nature, photography, and diving. and just in case it wasn't too obvious, you inspire many people like me
these videos are dope im so pumped for my open water dives this weekend for my padi cert, also no offense but i laughed out loud at 19:30 just cause im a desk jockey now and Jons typing form looks so awkward not using his left pointer finger lmao thats how i look in the water right now probably XD
+BlueWorldTV That original tune really set the tone for your videos, however. It was lighthearted yet heartfelt, peaceful yet playful. This new version is too bombastic, too heavy on the brass (sounds like a lame attempt at covering the Olympics theme). I absolutely understand the need/desire for changing things up after so long... But that theme/opening sequence really anchors all the episodes together. Watching in a playlist with my kids, this would be rather jarring. This is a great episode otherwise.
WOOOOW...God's creations are truly amazing... Great video Jonathan and I see that it is a lot of work and training. There is a lot more to see under the water than on land. I love the water and there is always something new to see even when you dive same place before. keep up the GREAT work.
i'm a big fan of your work jonathan, keep it up. Also, by any chance would it be possible for you to do a segment on ocean sunfish. They are such majestic and unique creatures that are not much given much attention on, it would be great if i can understand them better.
+BlueWorldTV Hey jhonnathan, i am a HUGE fan and i wanted to ask you something: Could you perhaps visit the wreck site of the MS ESTONIA? Its in the baltic sea. It means so much for me if you could do that because my aunt died on it. 852 People died. However the ship got coverd in concrete down there a while ago. but it whould be awsome eh? The ship sank 1994 BTW
+JJ Burg Yes it was Art Cohen and we are still working with Art. He will do the announcing for the TV version but he is pretty busy so we had Editor Tim do this one for fun. I know his voice isn't as good as Art's voice!
BlueWorldTV I can never find Jonathan Bird's Blue World on tv! I check gpb (or pbs) and it almost never airs. You should have a stern talk with them! Yeah but im sure Tim will get better at it.
+Laura Hornbacher Don't get me wrong, you CAN frog kick with Force Fins, but as they are intended to provide more thrust on the downstroke and "fold" slightly on the upstroke, they have a relatively weak frog kick. This is great for photography when you need a really gentle frog kick for fine-tuning your position, but not so good when you are really trying to move through a cave.
I was wondering if you are ever going to get your skydiving certification as well as being a cave diver. I think it would be a great addition to this channel if you could skydive as well.
He was an ATP so he was no stranger to training, procedure and rehearsal. Just remember that sailing, scuba, flying and automobiles can cash your check at anytime and are absolutely intolerant of incompetency, inaction or bravado.
In my previous Micronesia dive areas you also got certified for open water. By the US Army Corps of Engineers or you were denied arrival by air or sea. My paid job then was being part of that push-back as an armed officer. The worst issues went to a Federal Courthouse on Guam and there is a US Federal Prison on that island for a court ordered instruction..
I see a good bit of Dive Rite gear here. I just ordered a complete set of Dive Rite sidemount gear and will start learning sidemount soon. I am seriously considering getting into cave diving at some point in the future.
+blue world TV my name is Katie & I just wanna know of how long have u been doing your shows or your really cool shows & I always love watching' your shows. Its just Amazing!
Hi, I have been really into your episodes lately on my school account. When I am older I want to be a Veterinarian for Sea Mammals and turtles. I was wondering if you knew any good semester programs I can participate in. And keep up the awesome videos.

How much the cost of underwater swimming suite with cilender, mask, fins & camera?
Congrats Jonathan, on your new certification! My daughter and I can't wait to see more cave videos! Your team is doing a great job!!

What a marvelous channel, Jonathan. Certified mad lad for going into a cave much less one that is underwater. Good work.
Dat visibility tho. Its almost crystal clear as thin air!
Till you kick the sand in the bottom…and you then you are totally blind

That longer breathing tube is a beautiful way of practical loving.
Great pointingency.

That blind exercise was a great example in case of emergency. Finding the line and feeling for the triangle point in the right set standard direction.
I am glad we had such an example video.

To come.
Exams are useful.
Even mapping the cave can help people care more somehow❤ updating supports and matching accuracy, and or grace contests?
Good memory exercise from the first time divers per-cave and best drawing grace mapped.
Ohh I'm loving the new 60fps and wow that cave looks beautiful!
+Such Wow Gamer Thanks for noticing. I think the 60p looks awesome!
I seriously love your cave diving videos. such adventure and courage in your soul.

Loving the new intro, and the 60 fps.
+MicrowavedCarrot The 60p is so awesome, huh? You can actually see it the way we do when we edit--better than broadcast quality!
Glad I found your channel. Great videos. We are mesmerized. Love your voice, too.
@ 2:10 love those side burns Brian ! Lol
I remember when I first started diving side mount. It took a little getting used to but it is so much more comfortable! And convenient
I agree. I love it.
Please jonathan use the old song of the intro i kinda miss the old song and jonathan i am proud of you for making a another episode so very proud

Awesome I'm doing my full cave dive training this July in Thailand! 😁
That's Awesome Jonathan! Now you are an expert on Everything! Greetings from Brazil!!!
+CANAL FECHADO Not everything, but thanks for your confidence!!
+BlueWorldTV Jonathan, by the way I would really really like if you could go diving in Brazil, in the city of Fernando De Noronha, one of the most beatiful places in the world! You should search in up! You can go snorquel and scuba Diving and there are so many other different programs!
You have inspired me to become a marine biologist
Wow thank you for sharing.
this was incredable.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Congratulations on your cave diving Cert! Dive safe!
QUE INCREÍBLE,...QUE MARAVILLA,...MUCHAS GRACIAS SR Jonathan,....!!!
BlueWorldTV what happened to the every month diving? it has been 2 months since the Artificial Reef video..
+Ray Bugtai We released our season 4 "Behind the scenes" as the final episode of season 4 after the artificial reefs. ruclips.net/video/PQCLZH5CbT8/видео.html
+BlueWorldTV Next release is Oct 2.
BlueWorldTV Oh,Ok I thought you are very short of funds or something that's why you are not posting diving videos...Great video by the way..Keep on doing them :) sorry for the complains..
could you please make a series about diving tips and tricks, like in equipment and for new divers. Because you are obviously an experienced diver, thanks.
by the way, i love your videos, they combine my 3 passions, nature, photography, and diving.
and just in case it wasn't too obvious, you inspire many people like me
+Daniel Takawi ruclips.net/p/PLJEGLu0_tbrQnnFeLNAFs1oKD3e4Hyld7
these videos are dope im so pumped for my open water dives this weekend for my padi cert, also no offense but i laughed out loud at 19:30 just cause im a desk jockey now and Jons typing form looks so awkward not using his left pointer finger lmao thats how i look in the water right now probably XD
Amazing video as always!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Never realized or appreciated the amount of diverse technology involved just for one person to dive
it is much more interesting when you do it with the most simple equipment :)
kinda miss the old song :/
+Swedish Vampire We thought it was time for a change after 4 seasons of the same song. It's still the same song, with a different style.
Agree
+Swedish Vampire yeah the old song would always cheer me up, loved it haha
+BlueWorldTV That original tune really set the tone for your videos, however. It was lighthearted yet heartfelt, peaceful yet playful. This new version is too bombastic, too heavy on the brass (sounds like a lame attempt at covering the Olympics theme).
I absolutely understand the need/desire for changing things up after so long... But that theme/opening sequence really anchors all the episodes together. Watching in a playlist with my kids, this would be rather jarring. This is a great episode otherwise.
+L.D. Johnson Also, the score for the remainder of the episode is fantastic. No complaints there.
+Kamol Kin We had one scheduled a couple years ago but we had bad weather and the trip was cancelled. We will definitely get back to it someday.
BlueWorldTV you should come to Bali then. They are quite common here and you have very little chance of bad weather
I love your new theme for blue world keep it up and try to explore deeper places ;-)
loving the new intro :D
+Naso Suri I'm glad someone is!!!
The old theme made me get a more aquatic feeling but this one gives me an heroic feeling, wich is just as nice. :D
Fantastic place and fantastic instructor to get certified!
Why was there a new person telling you what happens in the video?
I mean at the begininning.
If I recall correctly, the old one was Art Cohen?
+JJ Burg Yes it was Art Cohen and we are still working with Art. He will do the announcing for the TV version but he is pretty busy so we had Editor Tim do this one for fun. I know his voice isn't as good as Art's voice!
BlueWorldTV I can never find Jonathan Bird's Blue World on tv! I check gpb (or pbs) and it almost never airs. You should have a stern talk with them! Yeah but im sure Tim will get better at it.
what camers setup do you use?
We have a bunch of them. Look up our video about "Tools of the Trade: Cameras"
Why no Force Fins during cave training?
+Laura Hornbacher The Force Fin is not very good for frog kicking so it doesn't really make the best cave diving fin.
Didn't think it was easy!!! OOFT!!! But your face at the end, so chuffed!!!
Your videos make me want to learn to dive. very interesting stuff thanks. subscribed +
The only show on youtube I turn off adblock for has returned :D
+Commander1991NOR We appreciate it because those annoying ads give us some revenue to keep us going!!!
u
I was wondering if you are ever going to get your skydiving certification as well as being a cave diver. I think it would be a great addition to this channel if you could skydive as well.
No way! I'm afraid of jumping out of airplanes!!!
I'm a little jealous Jonathan.
Congratulations with your cave diving certification!
Just to let you know, I love your videos! Keep it up!
:-) ;-)
How do you know how deep you dove and where the depth for the decompression stop is ?
Dive computer on my wrist!
m.ruclips.net/video/UsFaO79pMwE/видео.html
Great video as always
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello Jonathan Bird, I recently had to do this and it wasn't easy. I'm just wondering how long it took you to find the line again?
Longer than I expected!
Hey,
which helmets did you use in this film?
loving the new intro
I can't stop thinking about Dave shaw when I think about cave diving.
+Miles Clark That guy was crazy in my opinion!!
Miles Clark Nothing short of a legend.
He was an ATP so he was no stranger to training, procedure and rehearsal. Just remember that sailing, scuba, flying and automobiles can cash your check at anytime and are absolutely intolerant of incompetency, inaction or bravado.
Same goes for high voltage, firearms and severe weather... have fun but know what you're doing kiddos
You have the best vids I can't believe you only have 60000 subscribers even though that is still really good
+Luca Gaming Tell a few friends!!
This has to be the longest vid ever in blue world
Rayna Chowdhury check out his video about antarctica. I think it might be even longer, for that reason it was divided into 2 parts for tv i believe
If your were diving in a helmet, would a manual hand pump give you the bends?
Nice Video Of The Cave Training😃😄😀🎊🎉😀i Love It😀
Have you ever been to Belize? The place is really wonderful. Also, the dive sites are quite amazing too.
+Ryan Pfleger Never been but hope to go soon.
In my previous Micronesia dive areas you also got certified for open water.
By the US Army Corps of Engineers or you were denied arrival by air or sea.
My paid job then was being part of that push-back as an armed officer.
The worst issues went to a Federal Courthouse on Guam and there is a
US Federal Prison on that island for a court ordered instruction..
17:44 Who's that pokemon?!
I choose you! Remipede!
+Lint reminds me of scolipede
Why you dont wear force fins in cave diving?
They are not designed for the frog kick.
The hardest part of he’s training and the hardest part of the video as I’m watching it was the essay exam 😂😂😂
I see a good bit of Dive Rite gear here. I just ordered a complete set of Dive Rite sidemount gear and will start learning sidemount soon. I am seriously considering getting into cave diving at some point in the future.
Best decision for the channel ever!
Yes, it has turned out to be a lot of fun doing all these cave diving episodes!
I almost feel like I have earned my cave diving certification right along with you Jonathan!!
It was so much fun and pushed me out of my comfort zone to learn something new. It was great!!
You should probably have at least one lesson first tho
+blue world TV
my name is Katie
& I just wanna know
of how long have u
been doing your shows
or your really cool shows
& I always love watching'
your shows. Its just Amazing!
11:50 - Motto for cave diving: you may die but you won't get sea sick! 😅
um is it hard to take care of saltwater fish than freshwater fish
+Thanh Nguyen You mean in an aquarium? Yes.
+BlueWorldTV um I wish u were my dad so u could teach me to dive and swim
Have you seen the videos about the goblin shark? A deep sea shark? It's really cool!
+Antonio Smith Those things are freaky looking! Super cool!
Was the cave named that after the first person to explore it?
The guy who discovered it.
Nick cave I believe
Hi, I have been really into your episodes lately on my school account. When I am older I want to be a Veterinarian for Sea Mammals and turtles. I was wondering if you knew any good semester programs I can participate in. And keep up the awesome videos.
Not a good idea to get lost caving full stop LOL. Great camera work as usual!
The cave scenery were so beautiful....
Jonathan, if you had a ship what would you call it?????
+Joseph Bunyan Hmmmm....good question. Maybe the Calypso II?
Have you ever dived the ocean hole in rock sound Eleuthera Bahamas?
No.
3:00 film history has taught me that this is a kryptonite cavern, Lex Luther should be nearby, exercise caution.
