Tim, you really ought to go to your nearest T€DI (TEDI) shop in Germany and get yourself a few of the €2 "pick-up sticks" that you can keep one of behind your seat in each car. It's a life-saver for ticket machines and tolls when you're sat on the wrong side of the car.

I suspect your GT R is going to be one rather special GT R given the adventures you have been on and of course the fact that you owned it. One day it's going to be worth more than you think just because of your history with it.

Remember reading an article many years ago and I have never forgotten it “Germans respect speed and those that can attain it” Whereas in Britain some drivers will stay in the outside lane to annoy you.
Germany is strict on road rallies. If you saw the Gumball videos from last time Schmee did it, the rally was very regulated and police monitored there, as they don't want races down the Autobahns.. Cars not on the pre-determined routes were pulled over and fined. As such, having a car all stickered up might draw attention from police wondering what's going on.
Nathan Dubois gumball have a bad history with Germany. The fatal accident on the rally in 2007 subsequently banned Gumball 3000 in Germany. As such Polizei would give you hell if you had Gumball stickers on your car.

the wrapped BMW is the new 3 series. Saw it a few days earlier in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and parked next to that particular car :-D There was also the new Z4 a few days later
I never get bored on the highway. First thing to play - driving fast - it needs constant focus on the road but on highway it's pretty safe. Second - cruise control + car spotting. You never know what will pass You. Keeping eye on the mirrors is always good. Third - party music - good beat makes me happy ;) Fourth - phone call. Except midnight, You can always call Your friend. There are my ideas to fight with being bored on the journey. :) But I've seen it was funny for You Shmee ;)

Man you were quite lucky having this clear Autobahn runs... man the stretch from Salzburg (Austria) to around Nürnberg is massively congested... there are a few clear roads but 200kph is the max you can go (ok it’s maybe because my car has sweet 150hp buuut you can’t go nuts either :D)... but Italy and partly Croatia are very, let’s say speed friendly... (of course obeying the speed limit......)
Shmee driving to one destination for longer than 2 hours for me is bad enough,but 9 hours and you're still same? I guess the nice cars make it worth it ey

I've driven that "nice" piece of road (Fernpass) aswell this summer going to Italy on summerholidays. But indeed, traffic might be bad there during summer. Same for the Brenner highway.
Wonder if Schmee will do "Car Basics" videos, with things like "How best to put on car covers" and "WTF are Trickle Chargers" :p Just to name some questions I have :p
