The 1970 Toronado GT is so rare that people often laugh when they first hear the name. I've only seen one 1970 Toronado GT and I wish I had a camera on my phone back then because I've never seen another one since. The stripes around the wheel openings is the giveaway, then the badging confirms it. The 1970 Toronado always struck me as an odd looking car but I sure missed it when I saw the new 1971 Toronado with its "Eldorado-like" design. Any 1st gen Toronado is a real pleasure to see now - not many left.
Thanks! And the cutouts in the rear bumper, not to mention the hopped up cam, which sounds awesome! I will do a running video today so you guys can see!
Very cool to see the letter from Helen J Earley! Here is her info: First worked for Oldsmobile in 1942 as a stenographer. Retired in 1987 after 45 years service. Was Oldsmobile's resident historian. A founding member of the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum, member of the board of the Detroit Public National Automotive History Collection, member of the board of the Library and Research Center for the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Society of Automotive Historians. Received the James J. Bradley Award from the Society of Automotive Historians. (award recognized the "Outstanding contributions to the preservation of historical materials related to the automobiles produced by Oldsmobile and for the spirit of helpfulness to writers, researchers, historians and restorers"). Established and ran the Oldsmobile History Center along with James Walkinshaw. Co-authored two books, 'Setting the Pace' and 'Oldsmobile-A War Years Pictorial'.
Replaced the carb? Why? Can't anyone rebuild and adjust carbs anymore? The only reason you'd ever replace a carb on a car like this is if you wanted more power. Other than that, they're all completely rebuildable and adjustable. Just takes a little time and skill.

Wow, I didn't know that! Thanks for that interesting piece of information!!
I owned a '70 Toronado in a lighter green with white top. Only thing wrong was it couldn't hold a front end wheel alignment!
Oh nice. This one tracks nice and straight.
Me too I was 17 I love them
Also- funny to see "next oil change at 26,000 miles" 😁

No, it is the original carb on it, I had it rebuilt. Thanks!!
@@christianbugatticg Oh ok I thought I saw carb replacement on the paperwork sorry.
@@joe6096 it does say on the receipt, "replace" but it should have said, R&R. You can see the charge for the rebuild kit
