    One of my favorite signs of foreshadowing from Kubo in the series is when ichigo fights white ichigo and defeats him, and white ichigo gives him the speech to not die or he’ll take control hence this whole transformation. But the best part is that he says he’ll literally stomp on his head, which he actually does to Ulquiorra.

    When Orihime tried to heal Ichigo from death, although she brought Menoly backed to life having her entire upper half blown off, with Ichigo it's different. First, it was established earlier, during the first time she was healing him, that the dense spiritual pressure lingering on the wound was interfering with her ability to reject the damage and heal him. Second, her powers are heavily influenced by her mental/emotional/psychological state and her beliefs, hence why Hachigen had once told her she should view the world not as it is or currently operates but as she wants, in this case she is not in the best mindset and heavily damages her god-like healing powers, what with the man she loves being dead, the feeling her power is lacking, and then with Ishida and Ulquiorra fighting. Her powers couldn't bring him back.

      Like how you explained she was holding herself back during these moments! And in the fullbring arc she has more resolve and she quotes something like "I'll heal him nonmatter what" Showing her new mindset going into the future. Thinking back to episode one of TYBW she pulled up and healed so fast and then got to fighting! 🤩

    Ulquiorra's backstory was revealed to us in the Third Bleach Databook Umasked. In it we see that Ulquiorra comes from a clan of Hollows that's pressed and forms/is born at the bottom of a crater. All those from his clan are all black and possess mouths, Ulquiorra was born all white and possessed no mouth, in appearance close to his first Resurreccion form. Not only that Ulquiorra possessed no sensations, he could not hear, smell, or feel a sensation of touch and all those that follow these sensations, and without possessing a mouth he also could not taste or even eat, he didn't even possess the appetite that Hollows are infamous for. Ulquiorra still possessed his eyes though, and with them his sight, tying into Ulquiorra telling Orihime that if he can't see something then it doesn't exist. But he was so different from others of his clan of Hollows that the others tried to eat him, and he was forced to kill them instead. Ulquiorra may not have possessed any of the sensations that connect him to reality other than sight, he still possessed human emotions and those could experience all of this as if a human would fear, confusion, etc. After he kills the other members of his clan, he wanders off for some unspecified amount of time eventually coming across a giant Hueco Mundo tree, those trees we saw earlier in the arc that are basically just minerals i the form of trees, Ulquiorra was entranced by it because he felt a relatable to it, not having any meaning to exist, unknown why it even exists at all. He attempts to merge with the tree, in doing so chipping at his Hollow mask turning him into an Arrancar in the process, and at the end of it feeling a strong sense of satisfaction/contentment just to stay there.
    A quote from Ulquiorra during this chapter describes how everything that Ulquiorra doesn't see doesn't exist to him, as he has no other way of interacting with it outside of seeing it, and that even the things that reflect across his eyes, the things he can see, hold absolutely no meaning to him either.
    For the most part I think I told this pretty well, I may be missing some things, but I'm not sure as I'm writing this. And actually, Ulquiorra's Segunda Etapa form may have been close to the appearance of the other members of his clan, and this form has actually been said to represent Ulquiorra's second despair. Hence, why when he releases it he says he show Ichigo true despair.

    With the reveal that Ichigo's cloak is an indication of his spiritual pressure, it also indicates here that this manifestation of his Inner Hollow is stronger than, what I believe is, the most powerful Espada, not just marginally but by leaps and bounds, and all at not even half of it's full power. Add to that the demonstration of his High-Speed Regeneration also far surpassing Ulquiorra's, who himself says the only thing he can't heal being vital organs and his brain, regenerating Ichigo's heart and reviving him.

    I think I mentioned it before, but the parallel of Ichigo's and Ulquiorra's journeys through the Hueco Mundo arc was in parallel, with Ichigo becoming more like a Hollow and Ulquiorra becoming more human. This takes shapes when they're clashing swords and Ichigo questions it himself to Ulquiorra's face, but this is where it reaches it's conclusion. With Ichigo winning by becoming what can only be described as a mindless hollow demonstrating nothing of rational thought but still holding to a rational mission, it doesn't even have the playful maniacal personality demonstrated by White Ichigo either. And Ulquiorra dying after becoming one of the most, if not the most, human of the Espada, finding meaning in the Heart, somewhat symbolically saying that, as the representation of Death Emptiness/Nihilism, as soon as he finds meaning he can no longer live.

    In the manga, Ishida got his arm torn off by Ulquiorra. There's a lot of censorship in this arc, though I'm not sure if you have been told about it.

      We always hear about the Censorship in OG Bleach. Glad it's not this crazy in TYBW like we've been told as well. Always love to hear how the Anime/Manga differs though💯

    I heard that as Ichigo lay dead on the floor, Orihime trying to heal Ichigo to no avail, and Ishida fighting for his life and failing against Ulquiorra, people apparently found Orihime's cries of desperation towards Ichigo and her crying to be annoying. Ignoring the terrible situation she's in and her own guilt as well as the fact that at the moment she's still a 15 year old girl. Also, I think I've seen some reactions that agree with Orihime's self-deprecating thoughts where she blames herself for the situation they are in, ignoring the fact that very often victims are often made to feel like it was there fault for being victimized, such as this.

      True! We like to joke around about Inoue because she needed to get this development. At first she was always in her head and never healing so quickly but now she knows what she's doing!

    To Ichigo, a victory means that he has demonstrated himself in every way to be stronger than the opponent, meaning he's beaten them in terms of power but also he himself remains unmoved/unchanged by them refusing to compromise his core beliefs/values. Not only did Ichigo lose to Ulquiorra in terms of power, he only beat him by becoming something he loathes, a mindless Hollow. He doesn't even count him in his Vasto Lorde form as being himself, so it was more like a third party came in and ran havoc on the battlefield. Ichigo didn't want to kill Ulquiorra when he asked, at the very least, because he doesn't feel as if he even beat him with his own hands.

    Only Hollows who are killed by a zanpakuto are purified and sent to Soul Society. Technically the cause of Ulquiorra's death was by Hollow Ichigo's Cero, so he's dead dead

  • @sherrinfordhope5744
    @sherrinfordhope5744 2 года назад +9

    Ulquiorra slicing off Vasto Lorde Ichigo's Horn at the end of the fight was something completely out of character for Ulquiorra. By that point he already knew he would die in a couple of minutes at best, having lost so much of his vital organs. Furthermore, the cero wasn't even aimed at him, and would have had Ichigo, though not consciously trying to, kill one of his friends. In other words, Ulquiorra who believes in nothing would've just laid there, and Ishida would be dead.
