I met Chief Old Person in the early 60's. I grew to respect him and his dedication to his tribe. In 1963, on New Years Eve in Miami, Florida, I, a non-indian young woman, had the distinct honor of dancing the Eagle Dance just ahead of Earl in the beginning of the Orange Bowl Parade. He was such an admirable man of utmost dedication to all of his people. May dear Earl rest in peace and may his ancestors honor all of his dedication to the perpetuation of the Blackfeet tribe.
The White Calf family are the traditional chief lineage. Old Person is not in that proud lineage. This is the truth. I know I will receive a lot of criticism. Earl wanted the public life and with that goes truth telling.
