Good reaction! I see the screaming or growls as an instrument. Just another way to express youself, Leo is extremley talented, just another way yo express himself. :) We have also have to remeber that most of Leos stuff a have a lot of humor, this is a pretty good example. Have nice day, even tho im late to the show :)
I think you would like a band called Edguy, no screaming or growling, just a great powermetal band, with a lot of humor in their lyrics.

Obviously everyone has there own taste. How can it be classified as talent? The death growl or simply growl is used in more than just the Metal genre and uses an extended vocal technique. It's not easy. The screaming is very pleasurable to my ears and millions of others.

Originally back in the day, Metal was focused towards the angry youth of the 80's. We used to get pumped just by the riffs and bass drum pounding your chest. The screaming was a way for the band to voice their anger along with youth to let us know they were angry too! Well that was my take on it at least. But in general Metal was always a music to listen to and get pumped up or hyped up. Great for listening to during workouts or ass kickings lol.

If you "scream" the wrong way you destroy your voice. In a way adding distortion to your voice may take more talent because it can be done right or horribly wrong.

If you want an idea of good vocal fry scream singers you could check out Jinjer - Teacher Teacher
Now I know most people would steer you towards their song Pisces to shock you when Tatiana switches into her vocal fry mode, but I think the song Teacher Teacher is a stronger representation of the talent that is contained within the band Jinjer.

I think the scream singing taps into the baser side of the human psyche. It is appealing to those who need to purge themselves through this primal type screaming and the driving metal is the perfect accompaniment. Personally I do not care for it on a day to day basis but I have had days where I throw on a head banger to release frustration and scream along. You should react to the group Jinjer doing Pisces (Live Sessions). The combination of progressive rock and death metal is interesting and the fact that the lead singer, Tatiana, is a female is a jaw dropper. Very unique and worth checking out.

If you want to hear a great Leo Moracchioli cover, absolutely react to his cover of Lady Gaga's "Born this Way"
I think that one is his best.

Metal is the most expansive genre. You sound like you would like Power Metal and Symphonic Metal, but if you want Pirate Metal you have Alestorm.

You should check out a band called falling in reverse! It's a mix of rap, metal and just kind of all over the place. I'd start with a song called losing my mind, then the song called losing my life and then the song called drugs. It's a trilogy of sorts and you could throw I popular monster after those. I feel like you'd like them!!

I just discovered them a few days ago and love them. I reacted to some of their music already.

I'd say most (good) metal doesn't even have that growling/screaming. Sometimes it's appropriate, but generally I appreciate singers that use it sparingly. Now, the death metal growling DOES take talent, I just don't like it much either. I'd like to understand the lyrics, thanks. Although female vocalists might be an exception in my case... check Arch Enemy out if you want to find out.
