And still people complain about the subscription... for the stuff Adobe pushes out I rather pay a subscription than pay a onetime fee and never get stuff like that. And great Video! Thank you
As I'm fond of saying in my Lightroom classes, "For the privilege of living in the San Francisco Bay Area, we pay over $50/day in property taxes. For the Photography Plan, which includes Photoshop and Lightroom, syncing between devices, and in 2 clicks uploads a Lightroom gallery I can share with a link, and contributes to my sense of creativity and beauty, I spend 33 cents as day."
Thanks for the tutorial on the web version. I use the web version on my work laptop and have gotten really great results! The only downside is our internet connection gets a bit wonky causing the site to freeze. Otherwise, it’s an excellent resource.
UPDATE: A strong, stable broadband internet connection is a MUST. I just spent 45 minutes on an edit that LR Web didn't sync to the cloud. Very frustrating! I won't be doing anymore lunchtime edits at work on the web version.
Still convinced that Adobe's long term goal is to eliminate the need to "install" anything on the computer - makes it so much more easy to control - no need to accommodate operating systems or weird computer configurations or restrictions in Windows or Apple. The only drawback is the need to be connected - but that is becoming less and less of a challenge no matter where you are.
I can't believe you just did a full-on edit in a web browser. Mind blown. I can't wait to give this a try and see how the performance compares to an aging laptop. (Not good. Got frustrated after 30 seconds when the radial gradient froze. Still nice to see all the tools there. Was hoping running it on the cloud server would be better than locally, but it just doesn't work that way.)
@@brianmatiash Edge browser, Win 10 laptop, i7 (gen4), 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, dedicated graphics card. It's outdated and I don't blame Adobe on this one as I can't expect them to make new software run on old machines at this point. Just got my hopes up. This laptop still handles LrC and PS pretty well, so I am hanging on.
Brian, what are your thoughts about using iCloud stored photos (not in Apple Photos app) for local access and archiving in LR, as a viable alternative to an external drive. Thank you, looking forward to Adobe MAX in October!
It is still not clear for me, what is the advantage in using Lightroom Web. I have Lightroom cloud installed on my computer and Lightroom mobile on my iPad. When actually I would like to use web version instead and why?
Fair questions, Tadeus. Check out my accompanying blog post where I explain some reasons why some photographers may want to consider LR Web: www.matiash.com/blog/lightroom-web-masking
Excellent video - thank you! I have used LR Classic on my desktop for years but am about to dive into LR with a new iPad Pro, so your videos are very helpful.
I 100% use the Auto button, but it's mostly as a "preview" mode to see what tone and color corrections I could expect. After I see it, I usually undo Auto and begin making my manual adjustments. But, there have been plenty of times when I am in a pinch and Auto gets me 80% of the way there.
Thanks for keeping us updated on Lightroom. I note that the web version masking, like the iPad version, doesn’t support intersect masking like Classic and the desktop Lightroom version.
It’s true that while there currently isn’t an explicit intersect UI option, you can easily replicate it because it is basically “subtract + invert.” So you can get intersect functionality in LR Web and LR Mobile by doing that.
@@brianmatiash That is a technique that I use, and mostly it works, but it makes it hard to see and thus make an accurate selection in some cases. I await the day when Lightroom offers the same features across all devices.
Great video, so I can use now more functions via web instead of my old Ipad.

That's one of the healthiest opinions I've seen, Armin. And I agree 100%.

I really think you’re hitting the nail on the head here. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Which browser did you try? Also, what are the specs of the computer?

Doesn't seem to work with Chrome or Safari on my iPad. Do you think this will get updated in the near future?
Have you tried using the "Request Desktop Site" option when navigating to the URL? That may work, but I haven't tested it.

Thanks for putting in the effort to make this video tutorial.
Constructive feedback: Please make shorter videos and get to the core topic quickly.
Any chance you would include your original image so I can try to replicate what you did?
Wow, another video that goes where most others don't go! Massively useful, especially if you use a tablet! Thank you!!
My pleasure, Ralph! Mama always warned me about not going where most others don't go, but I never was a good listener. 😆
I still find it absolutely insane that the Web browser version of LR has more features than the iPad app.
Can Lightroom Mobile users use this?
Thanks, as always great stuff!!

I appreciate that, Sue! Thank you!
Awesome! Unbelievable editing power machine on the web. Adobe really rocks. Thanks a lot for sharing.
My pleasure, my friend! Always good to see your name pop up!
Likewise 😊
This is a wonderful tutorial. Thanks Brian!
My pleasure, Stephen!
Quick question - do you ever hit the Auto button and edit from there? I've never used LrW, interesting video Brian. Love lupines!

@@brianmatiash I haven’t considered undoing it and continuing with edits based on what auto looked like. Interesting. 😎
