Superb documentary archive of the first of Porsche’s many overall wins. I was a Ferrari P and Ford GT40 matchbox toy cars devotee at the time. I had Porsche’s too but knew very little about them until the mid 70s when their legend resumed play and I had grown into a modelling enthusiast and obsessed about but could not afford the Martini 935 and 936 Tamiya model kits.
Despite being Bavarian (not Barbarian ;) I am devoted to the ole Wyer GT40 girl winning '68 and '69 with Rodriguez resp. Ickx at the helm ... still Porsche 917 to me is the untouchable icon of its time .. straight out of hell with a beautiful twinkle all around . be it in Kommerzienrätin Red, Psychedelic Martini or Gulf Wyer liveries 🌷:)
I thought Nils Holgerson was just flying geese from Sweden and over Scandinavia. It's great to know he also drives the fabulous 971, nice job from Pierre France
Honestly kind of upset the Porsche #20 didn't win. Jo Siffert drove that car to the limit and was over 10 laps ahead of the rest of the field before messing up a gear shift and taking the engine out of commission :(
1937 = 432 km/h: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernd_Rosemeyer Most impressive is that the Porsche 917 could also take turns, while having a high topspeed. Declassing all of the revolutoniary competitors, like Ferrari and even the mighty Ford GT40.
so many classic and beautiful Porsches!

But that‘s what endurance racing is about.. there is a reason why it‘s called: „to finish first, first you have to finish!“
Cars drove without lights during the dark evening. Crazy drivers.
