The original plan was that Michael was going to fake his death, and start a new life changing his name to Michael De Santa, Trevor was suppose to get shot and die and Brad was suppose to get arrested, but instead of that happening Brad got into the cross fire failing the plan. Fast Forward to 2013, in which he hears his quote “You forget a thousand things everyday kid, you make sure this is one of them.” Which indicates that he’s still alive after all those years ago in which then he realized.
