My parents were both born and raised in NYC. Dad was born in 1917 and saw Ruth and Gehrig and co. play. He was a HUGE Yankees fan. Our family moved to Detroit in 1959, a year before I was born. He rooted for the Tigers but was still a devoted Yankees fan. As a kid it made no sense to me. We watched games together all the time, and on the rare occasions where a Yankees - Tigers game was on TV we were 'adversaries'. He often kept score when he watched a game. He'd make up one of those scorebook 'grids' for both tams, fill out the names for both lineups and track every hitter. He loved to talk about those old Yankees teams. He would have enjoyed seeing this. Great memories.

In May of 97' I was a freshman in high school and I stayed up late most nights and watched Leno and Conan, which came on at 11:35pm & 12:35am respectively. I always went to school the next day tired and nodded off most of the day. My teachers were concerned and I told them why I was always tired. They suggested that I taped the shows and watched them after school. I said "that's not an option when you're poor & don't own a VCR". Back then, you watched your favorite shows when they came on or you missed it forever. So we thought. Had I known I'd be watching reruns as an adult, maybe I would've done better in school. 😂 Probably not but it's a nice thought.
