God, I can spot the work of so many key animators in there. That Goku SSJ frame on Namek was done by Ohara Tai'ichirou. The Super Saiyan transformation scene by Masaki Satou, the Piccolo and Goku team up frame presumably by Masahiro Shimanuki. God we even got a glimpse at the very, hand drawn original key frames. So much cool stuff in here it's unbelieveable.
I think the problem with super was that they just didn't have the passion anymore. After all, the franchise is 38 years old. I also think a big part of it is the digital way of animating now that made the animators a bit...lazy.
So much work, colouring items, brushed, files, storage... So much work. I can't even comprehended how they are colouring those cels like vector colouring.
this is awesome :D i draw myself so these were some nice insights, also all these nice machines and oldschool stuff! also 6:00 + are some nice things for yall dbz fans!
I kw I'm obviously stating the obvious but it looks like theres a lot for work that goes into every anime no matter how many episodes or whatever project they were working on
Yep. Back in the 80s and 90s they did exactly by hand and it took them months to finish episodes under strict timeframes. That's where the home media releases comes in. Even with Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z in it's original airing there would be bad animation in the episodes because of the tight timeframes that they have to finish episodes or at least to the point of being able to air. After the latest episode airs on TV the station would send it back to Toei Animation so they can finish the episode and fix the bad animation or animation errors in the episodes so they can release them on home media like VHS Tapes. That fixed up animation is what the rest of the world would get when they release it in other countries.
Wow! the tedious repetition of animation must me mind numbing. I wonder how long it takes for it not to be fun anymore. Great! behind the scene video, thanks!
I wish they still did it like this all the time, you loose so much in the digital age, cellular will always be superior to me, just they way it looks moves and the hard work put into it (not saying there no hard work in digital but there’s definitely a lot less). Really feels like moving pictures which is the entire point of it to me, a moving manga or comic, digital doesn’t feel like that at all, there’s some nice digital animation out there, but it’ll never be as good as this to me.
@Cash Quest essentially yes, little more complicated than that but yeah basically, you might be amazed if you went and watched a video on how it works, it’s really some fascinating stuff.
Totaly agree. Also, computer images/animation are much more glosier and dead in later years... DB super and other anime after gt lack grit and heart. Broly movie was somewhat an exception, visualy at least
This shows how improve akira toriyama was because the dragon ball z video game animations were always much better then the show animations plus the pictures look like dragon ball z kai animation which came out in 2009
6:08 actual original arts of the iconic scenes! This is my dream museum right here. The best thing in history!

@@wesker01001 How things were animated. You're useless.
They still have that frame of when goku turned into a ssj 😱😱😱 amazing 🔥
After seeing this no one should ever complain about super bad animation because it takes a lot to animate
I think super has good animation but it's likely its animated different nower days as we have the technology to easily animate
Yeah to me the animation was better in super than in Z
Super has a lot of well animated scenes. I really dislike the artstyle of Super though.
