Headbangers ball.. reading kerrang magazine.. great bands.. no social media.. good days, pity i didn't realise it at the time. "The only authorship we have over our lives is retrospective"
I don't think he's socially awkward at all... not in a group of people, in every day life. What you're seeing is someone not used to being in front of a camera.
You gotta remember something about “The Seattle Scene.” Soundgarden was formed in 1984, and Green River was formed in 1985. The “sound” was “Grunge.” Nirvana formed YEARS later, and was more Punk than Grunge. Nirvana was “outside” of “The Seattle Scene” that had built for YEARS. Nirvana was the newcomer who was making Punk Music. People in the “scene” didn’t know a lot about Nirvana.
The bands you mentioned were all disciples of the Melvins guitar sound, Nirvana all hung around with the Melvins. Grunge was a style of dress, not a sound at first. Pearl Jam members weren’t from Seattle, only Stone Goddard was. Get your facts straight.
Eddie Vedder was drawing on himself the entire fucking time, then chimed in every so often to talk about sexecutioner, or, basketball, or Soundgarden, literally anything but PJ
Young Mike McCready without his polaroid, Eddie writing lyrics all over his body, just picturing Eddie 6'2 and Chris 6'7 chasing the black dog in the rain!
I saw Pearl Jam at performed in Seattle (with the pointed it the Space Needle), Moore Theater, Memorial Football, Drop in the Park (Cypress Hill, Pearl Jam) Magnusson Park, and saw at Seattle Coliseum 2 times, and Pearl Jam at Safeco Field.
Nevermind was second Nirvana's album. The band existed since 1988...It was not before Nirvana.. It was during Nirvana. Just nobody cared. I always wonder how Nirvana success with Nevermind was like ok thing but Pearl Jam susces with Ten was so soooo suspicious...and dissected.. To me that way so hypocritical. Especially that PJ didn't become famous because of some fancy conceptual video or something. They actually became who they are by playing live and leaving blood sweat and tears on the stage. That's how people start talking about them..and they began like opening for RHCP(they played first-so called third band) . This is a quote from RHCP 's book: "My friend Eddie' s in a band just signed by Epic. Third band on our tour doesn't mean much, but as the tour rolled i noticed kids coming out earlier. By the end of the tour Pearl Jam was the biggest band on the planet".
Nah they prolly just told him not to look at the camera. There weren't millions of them Everywhere in 1991. He was just feeling awkward. Both of em were.
Fugazi. They're an amazing band, that you should spend some time getting to know. Check out 13 songs. Ed was a big fan of that album and often used bits of their lyrics in early PJ improvs.
lol Eddie is short..but cute. But Chris Cornell was 6'2 and just a beautiful man!!! *edit* its cute that they have this couch on a platform so that their feet would touch😉
@@cindycassellgilbert5404 you think someone that is 5'7" wouldn't be able to put their feet on the ground sitting on a normal couch without a platform???
Eddie Vedder was gifted by the Universe with that voice. And he is so pretty !
“I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m 6”2’ and grew up playing ball…we just seem like we’re all naturals”. 😂 He’s so messing with the interviewer 😂 🏀
Vedder is an old soul...
for resl

I know...I just melted inside.
what I wouldn't give for a 1080p quality clip of just that portion of the interview
@@FAIRYGIRL911 i found that somewhere on tumblr a while ago. but not on video, a gif maybe. search for things like "pearl jam/ eddie vedder enhanced"
I love Pearl Jam and Eddie is sooo freaking beautiful talented man and I love Mike also sooo freaking talented!!! 💛🤘
I love how Eddie is a little socially awkward.
Miss WV out of this fake account I’m completely socially awkward
I don't think he's socially awkward at all... not in a group of people, in every day life. What you're seeing is someone not used to being in front of a camera.
I think he is stoned.
Camille Sauve No, Stone isn’t in this interview. It’s just Mike and Ed
wildmercuryfilms that’s not what they meant lol

McCready's family moved to Seattle within weeks after he was born. McCready is FROM Seattle too, Slappy.
grunge is a scene not a genre
I love Eddie referring to Mr. BUNGLE!!! PJ and Bungle, 2 of my forever favorites.
Eddie is really messing with the host here. This interview never disappoints.
He isn't messing with him. This is every Vedder interview. He's a try hard douche.
@@arthurrimbaud7287 lol I think you are talking about yourself
"This is about as goofy as we get, coming on this show."

Ed said in an interview that he was writing on his arms to make fun of rikki's tattoos.

I love how all the bands hate rikki 😭
Shit, the 90s are so gone. It's 2019??? WTF!!!! Glad pearl jam is still around. Wish the 3 others were still with us. "One way ticket Headstone."
😔😔😔
Eddie likes Mr. Bungle and I think I'm gonna cry tears of joy
exactly
I guess we all need 50 yo eddie to react to this interview lol
I wonder to myself the same question
I’d love to see it!
Yes!
Young Mike McCready without his polaroid, Eddie writing lyrics all over his body, just picturing Eddie 6'2 and Chris 6'7 chasing the black dog in the rain!
eddie's only 5'7" and chris was 6'2" but it's more fun to fuck with interviewers i guess.
this makes me really miss the 90s...and even mtv.
"And we're never going to stop, and it's really small, we're staying really small hopefully for very small prices"

Pearl Jam was on Headbanger’s Ball?!? (jaw drops)
they weren't sure how to market them at the time, as metal or as rock. then nirvana made alternative a viable category.
They didn’t even mentioned Nirvana. That’s how EARLY this is.

Funny how they mentioned Alice in chains, soundgarden, and queensryche but not nirvana
white deion Nevermind was released in September this interview was in April

This mtv host was a joke back then when mtv was playing commercial music and then realized that they wanted a piece of the alt/underground pie.
Damn Eddie never liked Dave A..
Why and what was he writing on his arms?
Fugazi. Amazing band if you don’t know them.

Because he can, he wants to, it's his arm...

Fugazi - a underground band he has promoted until today
What is it with Eddie writing on his arm
In another interview he said he used to write lyrics on himself in permanent marker.
It says fugazi
he also said he was writing on his arms to make fun of rachtman's tattoos.
Why do I feel like both these dudes are on acid during this
