    Good stuff, thanks for all the helpful tips. A little more feedback: 1. fully charge all your devices before you leave home. 2. Bring a little cash (but not a whole lot). 3. Seats next to the bathroom get the most noise and foot traffic. 4. Don't get stupid or drunk; the driver can legally leave you on the side of the road if he sees you as a disturbance. 5. Don't get caught drinking on the bus, the driver will read you the riot act and possibly kick you off the bus, even if you're not being bothersome. 6. Big city greyhound terminals are usually in the worst part of town - ATL/Dallas/LA/etc - straight gangster, be super careful. Don't wander 5 feet outside the terminal, especially in ATL (feels like Kabul). Strangely, the El Paso greyhound terminal is a beautiful work of art. 7. Every time I've ridden through Arizona or New Mexico, a group of released prisoners got on the bus. They just finished doing serious time and they're literally out of prison for the first time in decades - so they are the most upright citizen you've ever had the pleasure of sitting next to, at least for today, lol.

      I'm going Greyhound in 2023, and don't worry, ATL still feels like Kabul.

    One thing you need to mention is that Greyhound cranks up the AC in summer to the point where you know what the chicken in the 'fridge feels like, and cranks up the heat in the winter to the point where you feel like you're in a Turkish bathhouse, so dress accordingly.

  • @tenfourproductionsllc
    @tenfourproductionsllc 6 лет назад +70

    Sit toward the front of the bus. You'll get off the bus sooner and you can beeline to the food counters without having to stand in line. Then you can relax until it reboards.

      @tenfourproductionsllc 6 лет назад +9

      2nd tip. If you know you are going to have a good size layover, check out google maps of the area outside. You can then determine or plan if you want to venture out to that McDonalds or Starbucks or whatever.

    As a frequent Greyhounder, I also recommend having a VERY distinctive bag in general...for instance, my go to checked bag is bright purple with stickers so I can easily spot it among the sea of black and navy blue bags...also, always bring a snack and water bottle when possible.Some stations may have broken vending machines, or you may take a break somewhere where there isn't much to choose from.

      Hello! Just gonna copy and paste my question here for the two of you.
      I'm a short female and quite young. I am excited but a bit nervous about taking the greyhound for the first time. My trip will be about a day and a half. I'm planning on buying my ticket *5 days* before leaving. Just 5. Is that good enough? I want to be able to sit near the driver, as you have suggested in other videos.

    • @pearll_abcdgarcia2906

      The big discounts start at 2 or 3 weeks. So at 5 days it might not be as cheap as it could be.

    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️THANK YOU SO MUCH❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I just had my first greyhound trip from Pensacola Fl all the way back home to Columbia Sc that lasted from 11:15am Sunday to 8am Monday and your tips saved my life literally!! even though I’m 27 I’m still a young black female traveling alone so it’s scary and without the proper knowledge anything could’ve happened but I sat up front like the second row so there was no drama I got to sit alone with my mean face even tho I’m nice lol and even through two transfers I still got to be alone which was very peaceful lol I kept my tickets close I paid attention to my surroundings and kept up with the schedule my bags were the right size so I got to take both on with me even though usually it’s one I’m just extremely grateful for all the tips the first day I knew I’d be taking the bus I watched all your videos they gave me so much confidence even if you choose to never ride the bus again the times that you have definitely were beneficial to me and plenty of others who would never know without you Barack will always be the greatest of all time and yes you do sound like him but you’re also very informative and easy on the eye just like him lol you made things so clear and took all the fear out of something that was very necessary for my well being and I can continue to take trips and create more precious memories I know this is just RUclips but I feel like I met you in person so with all this being said I pray God blesses you and everything you do with all my heart thank you!!!

    This is good material. I've been on the greyhound numerous of time. Everything you mentioned was to the letter. My Sister will be traveling this morning on the greyhound for the first time now I can give her a rundown on what she need to do and expect. I was only going to tell her to bring snacks and keep an eye on her bags and they do have restrooms on the bus. My sister is a cleanaholic. I can hear her telling others "My sister never told me about the filthy restroom or could be long layovers blah blah blah". Never will hear the end of it(Lol). So I better call her now before she boards. BTW I listened to this video from the beginning to end. Enjoyed every minute of it. Was educational and fun to watch. Thanks!

    I rode Greyhound from Wichita Falls TX to Myrtle Beach SC (I think it took me 2 1/2 days?!?!)... My experience was not all that bad, the only thing I really hated was at night... I felt like we stopped every three hours for a bus stop, thus every time I was about to fall asleep I would wake up due to the bus stop. One tip I would give would be to have some snacks with your carry on. Sometimes we would not stop to eat and I ended up waiting for two hours to get food. Oh another tip, I was military so I was automatically on the bus first and if you have your CAC you can get on the bus first

One 14 hour about 2008.. got 1 coming up in about 2 weeks from Shreveport,LA.to Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca Mexico. G-dog can get me to Mex.CITY then ADO from there so I'm in for about a40-50 hr.marathon w/layovers and what not.Love your channel brother!!!!...Even an old Greyhound veteran like me learned a lot from your videos.I remember one video of yours where you said "You don't want to be stuck at the bus station in Shreveport.La.for several hours"...Man oh man I can DEFINITELY say you are right-on with that one!....Being my home town I've been in and out of that one A LOT!!!....its got to be the one that feels the most "UNSAFE"in my limited expirience and Dallas.TX.is really sketchy too....I used to suggest that people can bring a pillow with them for sittin or sleeping more comfortably but the last couple of times I rode the seats were quite comfortable you can always leave it or give it away @ your final stop.Anyhoo thanks again for all the sound advice looking forward to more cool videos....Your friend in travel,BRIAN.

The tipps you gave are extremely useful and improvising on the road is something, I already had to learn on my interrail trip through southern Europe 2 years ago. When your train isn´t working anymore 60 miles before you reach Rome and you don´t know where you are and don´t speak a single word italian, you learn a lot^^

    Very timely tips for me ... my first trip coming up in 10 days and it's a 22 hour ordeal!!! Four transfers and one International border crossing. Not looking forward to this at all ... I'm LARGE size and decided to take a chance and booked two seats. I did speak to the ticket agent at my boarding location and she said the driver will certainly try and accommodate if possible. Otherwise I fear for the poor sumabitch that will have to sit beside me ... :O One layover is almost 5 hours and that doesn't impress me at all. Just not something I am looking forward to and hopefully will never happen again. Just a strange set of circumstance that forced me to take the bus to get home. One tip i have for the charging issue, get a power bank or borrow one from a friend/relative. Then you can charge your phone from any situation, not power outlet, no problem! You can even put your phone and power bank in your pack together and charge

    main tip...if Amtrak goes where you are going..take them. Also my experiences told me to always bring fabreeze stick ons..you will encounter people with crazy bad body odor..if you have to get off and back on the bus try to have no checked luggage for example when crossing into canada..the driver will tell you to go back to the same seat..but there is always an asshole who will take your seat. so sit up front so you are 1st in line or just take a carry on..you will be 1st in customs and 1st out, so you can get your seat back. and PLEASE take ear buds,headphones,etc..to block out the shit you do not want to hear!! don't rule out amtrak..my last trip from pittsburgh to NYC was only $130 roundtrip..which was comparable to greyhound and megabus. Thanks for your vids, very informative.

    Is it worth it to get priority boarding? Going across country for first time in a cpl weeks. 63 hr trip. So nervous. Always hear people being late and missing their connecting bus

      Depends on the station. Baltimore enforces it, Washington enforces it but Atlanta and Columbia SC don't.

    I have a question can I bring a check back a carry-on One that fits in the overhead bin and a backpack?

    • @fundyourlifestyle
      @fundyourlifestyle  7 лет назад +3

      You should be able too. They will usually let you get away with a carry on and a backpack as long as you can stow both of them in the overhead bin or under your seat.

    I honestly prefer never to take Greyhound. I hate to fly, so my preferred method is Amtrak. However, Amtrak does not go everywhere so they will include a Greyhound ticket for places not served by the train. My experiences with Greyhound range from uneventful to downright awful. One trip I had my wallet stolen in the station, one trip the bus driver was crazy and threatened all the passengers and stopped the bus right before the exit to the station and locked everyone in the bus. As much as I hate flying, I think I would prefer it over the bus.

    I'm a short female and quite young. I am excited but a bit nervous about taking the greyhound for the first time. My trip will be about a day and a half. I'm planning on buying my ticket **5 days** before leaving. Just 5. Is that good enough? I want to be able to sit near the driver, as you have suggested in other videos.

    • @fundyourlifestyle
      @fundyourlifestyle  6 лет назад +1

      5 days should be good enough. You may not get as good a discount as you would if you booked a little earlier but you should still be ok

    Hey tim! How are you doing? With the declining quality of services with greyhound it makes you wish continental trailways was still around! As a kid greyhound bus lines was my favorite but also traveled continental railways was always right around the corner. What made trailways go under?
