You have no idea how helpful this video was for me!! I got this song dropped on me for this weekend and was having a hard time figuring out the parts. Thank you so much!!
Great tutorial! I really liked the way you broke it down, giving the student a chance to be successful at each part before putting it all together. Thanks!
I really appreciate your video lessons it helps to learn a song in segments then play along in addition to your explanations playing a fill slow and then up to speed. Thanks!
I love all the small things😍 And blink 182 is my best band to lern and thank you for that😃 I started with doing it with bass drum and snare🥲 And now i do two kicks wich is really hard and make me tired and sweaty 😅 And i am 6 years old🤣🤣🤣 The band AC/DC is my best band but i love learning blink 182-😄
Cool. Thanks man. Explained very well. I needed to learn this number before Saturday. Its Wednesday now and couldn't be arsed to go through the song over and over. As I have many more numbers to get through. Thanks again.
Thanks for stopping by, this might be difficult for a song to begin with, check out my easy songs playlist for a good starting point or my beginner drum course coming in over the next few weeks
For the awesome fill midway through verse one i used to do what you do - keep right hand doing 8th notes on hats and snare and add the inbetween 16th notes on snare with my left. I actually find it easier to do the 8th note snare after the second hihat hit (Pss dakadaka pss KA) with my left and break the constant 8th notes of the right. Just gives that micro second extra breathing space at full tempo and ensures i get a good snare hit on the beat Try it. That final hat to snare move can be rushed and ill-defined
@@ThomMillsDrums its a really easy habit to fall into "Oh look..every 8th note is hit so ill just keep my right playing constantly" I realised to break that rule on "one good reason". The final fill in the "breakdown" goes 1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a S t f k S -S t f k S - S t f f R L R R -R L R R - RLRL F. F Is easier at first but ultimately less fluid to play than R L R L -R L R L - RLRL F. F
@@ThomMillsDrums literally just uploaded cover of one good reason. At the the 2min30 mark is the fill i mean - watch how the left hand comes down on the snare after the kick. Had just started up again after 10 years if not drumming because of lockdown and it just happened by accident. Ps listen on headphones or tv as toms dont come through on phone
Thanks a lot for this Video! I struggled a lot trying to figure out what happens on the drums by listening to it. But while playing along it ends in a desaster without a clear plan... So i decided to play it much more simlyfied, so my band was able to play it. But that never satisfyied me though they said it was ok. Fun comes along with confidence 🙂.
Don’t worry too much about the detail, try and and just get the main groove feel down and the details can be filled in later. Keep it up and keep working it’s a tough song and will come in time!
you hit a tom during your performance instead of the hi-hat, during the first fill but the timing was still perfect ;) Great Video though brother your a excellent drummer and teacher.
My approach is im covering the song not duplicating it. I dont feel i have to play the fills exactly like Travis does. Do your own thing. If it sounds good it works.
For sure my man, you don’t have to replicate all the parts. I’d say making sure kick patterns are correct makes a massive difference and makes it groove and feel good, slots in with the other instruments and also just knowing the structure helps massively. Not sure if this one does but I usually include the song chart (structure) in the description so check that out!
I definitely agree that when playing a song, it's perfectly fine to do your own thing, that's really great to develop creativity and your own style. I will say however, it can be useful to learn some songs exactly the way they were written, it allows you to possibly learn how and why certain drummers do the things they do, and helps discover new things. So essentially I think there's value in both.
I'm 15 and learning how to play drums! Blink-182 is one of my favorite bands so this is awesome
Radical!
Thank you for your clear, concise, easy to understand instructions.
Well thank you sir!

Thanks man, I wish! thanks for watching
Great tutorial! I really liked the way you broke it down, giving the student a chance to be successful at each part before putting it all together. Thanks!
Yeah that’s it, if you break it down into manageable chunks it’s easier to digest

Soooo Glad to hear that!
This was so good
Thanks matey!

Great Job breaking it down! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the lesson , easy to learn it!!
Rad!
I learned more from this 15min video then trying to play along with the actual song. Lol
Great stuff, that’s the idea!
Tnx sir my first time to saw your video and it quite interesting for me coz i really want to explore more to improve my skill on drumming…tnx…

You are so welcome!
Very nice lesson. Much much better than all the others on the web. Well done. All I needed was the sticking on the fill and you nailed it. Thanks.
Nice one glad to be of service Todd!
That is a true lesson my friend
Thanks a lot!

Nice breakdown. I find it easier to do that triplet fill leading with my left hand.
Fair play, whatever works best for you!

Nice one terry!
Wish I could keep up
Have you tried playing quarter notes in the verses instead ?
To hard
It is a tough one, not easy to play straight away tempo is quite fast too so maybe take a look at my easy songs course / playlist?
