- Join us as we continue our mini South Wales road trip by visiting Barry Island Pleasure Park
Barry Island is about 30mins drive east up the coast from Coney Beach Porthcawl and is an easy to do day trip by fitting both amuse parks in one day
Barry Island is owned by the famous British showman, Henry Danter (definitely not Harry) and the park itself is famous for previously housing rides created by John Wardley, unfortunately they no longer exist
Barry Island Pleasure Park is cramped full of rides for the whole family to enjoy including the brand new Mondial Top Scan which Henry Danter has recently just bought from Coney Beach
Footage was filmed in HD 1080p 50fps using a Max Lens Mod attached and with official accessories

John Wardley did quite a bit of work at the park in his early days. Converted the Ghost Train into Uncle Frankenstein's Scream Machine, made alterations to the Jungle Ride, and designed the Whacky Goldmine and Log Flume.
Went today as it’s our local park, octopus is still in the same spot, it’s not working still not sure what’s going on with it
The dodgems now have roofs! And the top scan is epic and all the lights were working, that and the Super trooper look stunning in the dark 👍

hi Coaster Crazy another great vlog i loved your reply to my comment on your porthcawl vlog it is great to see you at Barry island i cant believe how much it has changed over the years i must say Henry Danter has brought life back to it he has brought some truly fantasic rides such as the octopus jets and top scan i hope he brings more i can remember when i was a kid my mum would take me my brother and my sister to barry island by train when we saw the old log flume we knew that we was in barry i never been to barry now for years i hope to go one day
Totally agree with you Andy. I love a bit of hang time on a coaster.. but those flat rides are terrifying!

I, for one, LOVE that you cover the fun fairs and smaller parks. It makes me nostalgic for all the travelling fairs and carnivals I attended growing up. They were the best and I always looked forward to going to them. Those were the rides and atmosphere that got me really excited!

I live near it on 1 ride my whole life flashed before my eyes
When I was a kid, I am sure that Cyclone was called Galaxy, and was next to a great classic Funhouse that had a 90 degree slide at the end, I remember back in the late 70's seeing a Radio 1 Roadshow hosted by Peter Powell in the pleasure park, ah for the good old days.
This Cyclone coaster is only a few years old but it a new coaster from the old Pinfari models of the same type
@@Coaster_Crazy Yep it is exactly the same as the one back in the 70's, but different cars, no overhead seatbelts back in those days. I remember sat in the bar in Butlins with mum and dad with my Pepsi looking over the fair and wishing I was there. They would give me £1 to play on the arcade machines in Butlins, and I would sneak out and go to the fair, needless to say they had one eye on the Butlins security gate and always saw me sneaking out.
Crap then as well.
i think butlins in mine head late 90s has a octopus was great at the time
Hi Andy , when will you come back to Belgium? Plopsa has the new Mack spinning coaster themed after Tomorrowland, Bellewaerde has a new coaster, Walibi has the new megacoaster, Bobbejaanland has Fury.... Lots of new rides to discover.
We will be coming back to Belgium as soon as we can travel from the UK again as of yet we just don’t know when that will be, hopefully next month
Factory tours would be awesome
Yeah I'd like to see a factory tour myself, used to work in a boat building yard so can appreciate the engineering involved in creating machines like the rides from welding, electrical, hydraulic engineering perspective.

My local park, old Basra is sadly way past its ‘ hey day ‘ when I was a kid and they had the classic log flume and butlins, it’s a shell of its former self, it’s a nice day out for the beach ect but I don’t go to the fair much anymore but my teenagers go in the summer
The Wacky Goldmine rides was one of my faves, I loved my holidays in Barry back in the 70's/80's

@@evehosgood No that was after my time, we stopped going as a family in 1982, and I went back with a mate in 1984 and that was the last time. I am hoping to take a day trip in the next month. I remember the Log Flume a beautiful ride, but always got soaked, the Ghost Train was fun, Enterprise was mega for it's day, but I always found the Pitate Ship a bit boring. I loved the arcade, I think it was called Lucky Penny? That is where I became addicted to Pinball Tables.
@@darranbeal6887 ah I was born In 1984 so it was early - mid 90s for me really, there was a pirate ship that went totally upside down I remember that, and the Evolution, it was like this huge KMG ( don’t think they made it though ) that left you upside down for ages! It was so tall you could see it from a few spots around Barry, it got moved to Great Yarmouth but it’s gone from there now

Andy for years Ive loved the channel but please try and talk your wife into being more involved! We all want to know the INCREDIBLE WOMAN WHO PUTS UP WITH YOUR COASTER ADDICTION! She is one of the few who allow it!! My wife likes family style coasters but she's more apt to tell me to shove off on me own VS tagging along. ☹
She doesn’t like being on camera and I try not to get her in it ! Haha nothing wrong with going to parks on your own but it’s always better to have some company

I know if I had a vlog my wife would be saying thw following: "BABE, I DON'T CARE if they wasted A TON OF theming money on JP Velocicoaster because they wanted to add a trim break right before the rides biggest drop!" I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THOSE PARTS ARE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!

2 important points... Us locals don't call that travesty the 'Log Flume', we're still mourning the *real* Log Flume which was demolished when Mr Danter took over(one of 2 last remaining permanent rides(the other being the Jungle Boat) which had been left to rot away of the years) a NEW Log Flume was promised when he took over... We are still waiting!
The most important ride there now, historically, is the Gravitron.. what you see is the original model which was at Barry way back from circa 84!
I know this as I constantly went on it :-)
The owner of the ride is a local lad, who loved it so much,he just had to buy it, bring it back to Barry, and restore it to it's former glory!
