Fantastic music. What a shame people only think in Disco music when talk about the seventies. We had glam rock which was too far out to survive. But it was infinite while it lasted.
Will have to revisit this. Had this image in my head of someone playing an ‘Angie Bowie’ like character well. This has just clarified for me that it was a Tony Collette!!!!!
The female lead in "Mute" (2018) is an "Angie Bowie", from the POV of her son (oedipal) being abandoned by a ~rock star dad who's on a bender with his pedo friend.
I saw this film when it came out in the cinema and loved it, had to watch it three times. I've also got the DVD and have rewatch it time to time. I just love it.
In the Music Business people rise high and then they fall low - there is stiff competition between bands - your star can shine a long time, but if you are too sure of yourself and vain your star can fade into forget, forget, forget ....only certain people who adapt themselves to the tastes of their audience, can last long.Like Madonna ....
Oh how I love to find this trailers of movies Ive loved always with the voice of this man, I read in a comment of another movie trailer that they stop making this narrated format after this man died, anybody know if is true??
I remember seeing this and being told it was actually about David Bowie and either Brian Eno or Iggy Pop.So long ago . . college days, though I guess it came out much earlier. . . .I just remember the song "Baby's on Fire" . . .and the main character was a total selfish dick 😂
This Movie has the Rated R soon to know as Restricted also it contains Themes/Title, Languages, Violence, Sexualization, Horrors, and Drugs which is NOT for kids under the age of 1-12...
I watched it and I liked a lot the actors Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ewan McGregor and Toni Collette. All my respect to them. The ”gay stuff” is ok, as Bowie said, mainly the bars, the clothes, the mannerisms, the attitude, the teenager's problems with identity, but I found the actual kissing and romance thing a bit silly. I surely hope no one thinks that this story is true! I mean real Angie Bowie was nowhere that innocent, Bowie was not in love with fucking Iggy Pop and the breakup between Bowie and Angie was not as simple as it is presented here. I really found it a quite disturbing to see Iggy in that situation. Someone imagined Iggy quoting Oscar Wilde and kissing Bowie onstage? Now I've seen it all!
The 70's were far more than the bad wigs and blatent bisexuality this film portrays .... If anyone stepped up looking like brian slade they'd be laughed off the stage .....none of them ring true ... even Izzard is unbelievable. A 90's crass view from people who weren't there think it went down ... no way .... "yeah ... splat a wig and some makeup and we've nailed a decade" ... this falls so short of describing even the narrow band it targets that is laughable... if i wasn't so offended.
What was it with trailers back then. Who was that guy with the shitty American voice. If you think this is bad watch usual suspects trailer ruclips.net/video/oiXdPolca5w/видео.html
One of my all time favourite films, but I feel sorry for anyone who saw that trailer and thought it was going to be a murder mystery.
My Top 20 film. Really cool. I seriously don't understand why Bowie sued, it's obviously an exaggeration, a sneaky caricature of glam and punk!
I wish I came flying out of the closet like this…
woo dunit?
@@targard.quantumfrack6854 The Butler did it.
@@adriajawort dang I was convinced it was colonel wheelchair!
Never has a trailer been less about a movie.
is better, new flicks tell all the story in the trailer, like black Adam
I am not sure how I developed specifically, but I do promise that this movie had a formative impact on my teenage years.
I haven’t seen this yet, but I wish I had when I was young!
Always thought this myself. Was my first foray into the music before my time and I'm forever thankful it was a thing.
This trailer seriously does the film no justice
Fantastic music. What a shame people only think in Disco music when talk about the seventies. We had glam rock which was too far out to survive. But it was infinite while it lasted.
disco was better
No chance .disco was crap
LOVE this movie. Play and play it over and over... never get tired of it.
one of the best movies in history. One of the worst trailers in history.
So...
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..."
One of the best soundtracks for a film
&
One of the most quotable movies of all time
1:02 I can watch that hundreds of times.
The trailer definitely does not do this movie justice.
The elevator pitch would be “Citizen Bowie”

Still even now😂
this one I have to see although I get that the trailer doesn't do the movie any justice, it makes me even more curious!
One of my favourite movies. I went as Maxwell Demon for Hallowe'en in about 1999.
I saw this film when it came out in the cinema and loved it, had to watch it three times. I've also got the DVD and have rewatch it time to time. I just love it.

David Bowie is more influential, important and relevant than Madonna. Even Madonna was inspired by Bowie.
Will you look at that young and promissing cast!
🤩🤩🤩
this movie is so sad and deep
David Bowie????
Yes
Based loosely on.
And Iggy Pop

A combo of the major glam rock stars, including Bolan's tragic early death.
Was that Eddie Izzard at the start? Might have to give this a look
Bowie
Plot twist: the movie is better than the trailer!😂
Pure Glam

AWESOME MOVIE
Hm, doesn't do the movie any justice...
Oh gawd what a ridiculously bad trailer for such a strange and beautiful film! I just watched Velvet Goldmine tonight for about the 5th time.
Where can i see this? I like 70's stuff.
The film frequently quotes Oscar Wilde but is still unwatchable
they used T.rex's 20th Century
Boy love the song & T.Rex.
A really bad cover of the song.
that guy looks like simon le bon
That voice-over..... This is not a Michael Bay movie you bigots.
😂
I was told placebo would be in the movie?
1:12 reminds me ofAdam Lambert
Harry Is My Bae Haha, yep.
