    Him being special is not the Argument. The argument is if he is great. Greatness is achieved over time. One or two great seasons does not make one great. Odell is a great talent, and one of the best wr in the league, but has not put in the work to be considered great yet. Warren Sapp was correct. Those that actually compete at the highest level understood what he was saying.

      Obj is a great player but Idk if he is the missing piece to a super bowl team. Only time will tell, he has time to mature. Larry Fitzgerald was much similar to him in relation to just putting up numbers and stats. Kurt Warner has to guide Larry into being a better teammate. Odell will be fine if he’s on a team with an OG of a leader, the giants don’t have any lol. Every bad team lacks leadership and they lose no matter how great player are on that team, hence the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    A defensive players would feel that way. Too bad Warren Sapp is almost universally wrong about everything which is exactly why nobody misses him on NFL Network and were pretty happy he was gone. I remember when he was adamant that McNabb had an IV because he had a wrap on his arm during a game, and then it comes out that it was actually for turf burn and McNabb in his usual passive/aggressive way roasted his dumbass for it.
    Here's his stats. In his first four years, because he only played four games the fourth year and then was put on IR; going into this recent 2018 season he was the only player in NFL history to have a minimum of *90 catches & 1300 yards* for their first three seasons with an aging Eli Manning as his QB. Despite his injury, he was still second in TDs going into the 2018 season since he was drafted - with 34.
    Currently ODB Jr has three less TDs than Deandre Hopkins, despite playing *36 less games.* If we use his injury year as a metric, he only played 47 games in his first four years and had 4424 yards. There's only *THREE* players in the history of the NFL that were better; Mike Evans (4579 in 61 games), Randy Moss (5396 in 64 games which is nuts), & Jerry Rice (4881 in 60 games). Closest player behind him that I've seen was TY Hilton although Tyreek Hill has the chance to pass the yards. He leads everybody else in catches during those years, and nobody is catching up in both combined. Sapp on some bullshit as usual.
    Also I own NFL gloves and can say that the stick factor is an excuse. Why isn't everybody else doing the same numbers then? If it's really the gloves then why is Randy Moss so far ahead in the first four years? If these modern gloves are so good and sticky, why aren't receivers putting up catch numbers like Jerry Rice, who used StickUm on his?
    By the way. Dude is 6'2 with 10" hands. I'm 6'3 with 9 1/2 inch hands, I can wrap my hand around most of football neverless what OBD jr can do.

    You can say that every NFL player is special because they made it but if OBJ didn't play for a big corporation like the Giants and played for any other team like the Browns, it would've been different. The Giants made him and that over blown catch he make against the Cowboys.

    We have a non athlete and a female commentator laughing at the hall of fame ex pro who seen all types of football and made a career of it lmao
    I think his point is that Odell is talented-not great. There is a certain level of expectation and prestige that comes with being “great”. Would even go as far to say Odell is a great talent.

    • @cortp898
      @cortp898 4 года назад

      K Will Thats a great career comparison. I think that is Odell’s floor at the moment barring injury & covid now lol. He has that potential to be more though and I think that’s what Jemele missed in Sapp’s comments.
      Also Vlad isn’t sports savvy enough to understand that and properly explain that to Jemel. He asks her the question shaped into a “would ya listen to this” context.

  • @rockabye_baby187

    I understand why he. Said what he said. Because from his standard OBJ is NOT great. He's a playmaker when he plays. He does act like a diva way too much for what he's actually accomplished as a pro. Mostly it's a me thing with Odell. Not a team success thing or we. So the Rams picked him up for their run to the title but Odell wasn't with that team from jump. He was wasting away in Cleveland after the Giants didn't want his ass no more. Paid him the big contract never made them winners either. We remember the embarrassing loss to GB where they was hanging out on boats and stuff beforehand. Go out to GB without shirts on and got they asses whipped. Season over. So...for me, he can make great catches at times. That. Doesn't mean someone is a great player. Randy Moss was a great player. Jerry Rice. Tim Brown. They achieved things Odell has not. He's usually hurt more than he plays too. It's a fact.
