    @sammcgregor5455 Месяц назад +30

    I've only been training jiu jitsu for a couple of years, but it seems to me you often see pretty bad bottom game plans in MMA. People don't ever try to sweep, the emphasis is always on getting to the feet. People who get back control cross the legs. People don't kick grapplers cause they don't want to get taken down, then get taken down anyway, without the benefit of landing anything. I feel like the meta will change in the next few years because of these dagis, and it might look like lots of sweeps and body work

    • @chefxhyrule242
      @chefxhyrule242 Месяц назад +4

      I always say this, strikers get taken down and try to get up as fast as possible and it leads to getting taken down time after time and controlled where as grapplers can scramble and grapple off their back which leads to the fight being on the feet. I’ve always said if strikers wanna keep the fight in the feet take a page out of the grapplers book and counter grapple which tends to bring the fight back up.

    The “giggler/john wane” is the sweep you see here in this video where its the inside leg and the rotation of the knees causing the sweep.
    The “knee lever” is when you take your outside leg over the top of the opponents leg and drag their heel away from their body. This torques the knee to cause the sweep.

    Awesome video.
    I always go for the underhook, then to a single into Dogfight position. This's my game at the bottom halfguard. And I'm familiar with Knee Lever from Danaher, but I never used it. But after this video, I would definitely try it next time at the Mats
    Thank you.

    hi slack ive been listening to the pod for about a year now and this is the first time ive seen one of these, how often do you do them on the patreon because if it's relatively often ill definitely subscribe

      not super often but there’s enough extra content to justify it, it’s the only patreon i’ve ever paid for and the only reason i even have the app on my phone, however, im not sure what tea he’s been sipping on this week but he uploaded a 40 min striking breakdown video this week as well as this

    Would you ever consider covering some Russian scene stuff? It's mostly ACA at this point I guess (though there are some good dudes in RCC and a couple in FNG/AMC) but some of the top guys on the Russian scene are also some of the top guys in the world. However nobody ever talks about them and in the larger MMA sphere (outside of Russia, I presume) it's like they don't exist. Islam Omarov has to be top 5 in the world, right? Am I crazy?
    Anyway aside from my digression Zavurov was an amazing talent back in the day. Khabib and Islam have both said on multiple occasions they looked up to him when they were green and still coming up. His impact on their careers is understated.

    The only problem is fighter like Khabib would never get swept like that. I thought that as soon as I seen it.
    If you look @ 6:58 Khabib would have the opponents legs crossed and straddled by that point. With more weight on / over the hips.

    Cage walking is something that Dricus does very well. I think when we see a DDP vs Khamzat fight that khamzat will get him down quite easily, but get swept easily and then get the shit beat out of him
