I scream at the screen all the time when "Top Ranked" fighters are on their back and NEVER EVEN TRY FOR SWEEPS !!! I'm 135lbs and love jiu jitsu and don't like how mma fighters cannot get off their backs. Love this dude 😎
I've only been training jiu jitsu for a couple of years, but it seems to me you often see pretty bad bottom game plans in MMA. People don't ever try to sweep, the emphasis is always on getting to the feet. People who get back control cross the legs. People don't kick grapplers cause they don't want to get taken down, then get taken down anyway, without the benefit of landing anything. I feel like the meta will change in the next few years because of these dagis, and it might look like lots of sweeps and body work
I always say this, strikers get taken down and try to get up as fast as possible and it leads to getting taken down time after time and controlled where as grapplers can scramble and grapple off their back which leads to the fight being on the feet. I’ve always said if strikers wanna keep the fight in the feet take a page out of the grapplers book and counter grapple which tends to bring the fight back up.
He said in the video that you obviously cant sweep the guy if hes not pressuring you with momentum you'd have to eat/block a few shots while attempting to sweep because if theyre just ontop of you doing nothing then you obviously cant use their own momentum to get em off of you
That’s why i had such high hopes and still believe charlie boy do bronx can get the W. He just undermined/overlooked islams striking to much. You can be your own worse enemy sometimes. But grappling exchange was pretty much what i thought it was gonna be. And surprisingly dustin had some good success for as long as he could. And in comparison to when he fought khabib.
