I'm finding if my USB cable that is plugged into the dash moves up or down slightly it disconnects from Android Auto. I am using a good ANKER USB cable. My Camry is a 2020. I guess over the years the socket has gotten lose. There are 2 pieces of bent metal that press against the Male connector. Bending those slightly towards the center should make a tighter fit. I'm leaning towards that as a possible solution.
Same exact problem. New Kenwood Excelon Head Unit, disconnects at certain points on my commute, But when I am on in my other rig with an older Clarion head unit from 2015 it connects a plays via bluetooth with NO ISSUES. It does not use car play though. Pretty upsetting that an expensive top of the line unit has crappy connectivity and my budget Clarion from 2015 has zero issues. Or am I missing something?
I have a 2022 Tucson Hondai. This Happens to me at very specific points. It by a bank and UFC gym In waikele Hawaii. And another spot more west side of the island. It used to only disconnect. Now it black outs my audio display for 15 seconds. It happens only in this location.
I’m starting to think it has something to do with the infrastructure for Smart Meters. I know the locations it happens in for me, none of them are near an airport, but it’s always near a tower of some sort. What’s interesting is you don’t need a cellular connection for wireless CarPlay to work, so it’s something interfering with the WiFi connection between the phone and the radio
@@JohnnyKReviews im actually filling a report with the FCC after thinking about it. I drive a lot, and have a pinpoint on several areas it happens in. I know they have rules that say some devices must accept interference but not create it, and that some devices can create interference for other devices. Clearly this is an issue that other people experience, so maybe if enough people bug them about it, a solution can be found.
Still does it when I'm wired if i loose signal it dropped and the screen prompts that the time hasn't been set in android auto and drops the connection to the phone.
I have this issue at same locations daily, very frustrating, kind of miss just regular blue tooth, I may get another radio without android auto and apple car play, I have both apple for work and android as personal phone
The solution suggested in this video worked for me. Just go to the gear symbol on the screen, disconnect the andriod auto, and reconnect. It takes fesm sec only. The map on the car screen is live again.

My connection is just loose. I have a wired connection to Android Auto/Apple Car Play, but I would love to know how to fix that. I'm able to connect my phone via Bluetooth but I can't access Android Auto that way. I still use Google maps on my phone that's connected to my rearview mirror so I can watch it easier. I basically have a feature on my car that I simply cannot use and don't want to have a mechanic fix it for monetary reasons. I want to fix it myself if possible.
@@saulsn3362 I believe it’s a hardware issue and on many of these devices that are 3rd party. Since GM etc don’t make them they buy them from other vendors
Hmm interesting theory but isn't it a local wifi and Bluetooth connection inside your car? It should not drop a local Hotspot connection inside the car.
It's fascinating because my wife used to work for Hyundai so we owned a series of hyundais starting with 2015 and ending 2019 I think. All of those years had disconnection with Android auto very frequently. We owned two elantras and one sonata during that time and all of them had the same problem. Interestingly enough, we also bought a 2016 Kia optima and that also had constant disconnections We now own a 2023 Hyundai sonata and rarely is there ever a disconnection.
@@bobsimmons1470 I see thank you for sharing. I do not know GM’s purchasing and if they knew about this before placing the order. I know with Hyundais and Kia’s many did not have “wireless” CarPlay until recent models, example: Ioniq 5 and ev6

It’s 100% interference. It’s only at specific locations in my town. I can almost exactly tell a passenger when it will disconnect.

In Las Vegas it disconnects at the spaghetti bowl freeway i95/i15 interchange then again when you pass the Aria Hotel Casino complex area.
215/i11 drops every time. Also near Jean
Omg yes I got the wireless it’s making me crazy 2023 car and when I talk on my phone it will even disconnect my call

Thank you for your comment. Most likely it's the satalittle interference or radar that is very strong.

it happens in my city as well so im using wired,

Just turn off CarPlay or android auto. You can use blue tooth only. I disconnect at same locations too. Sucks.
I get disconnected in my stock honda crv radio but not in my other car with an aftermarket radio so I think it's the Hobda radio that's the problem
