The old Hoover's are still to this day the best way of getting carpets/rugs 100% clean, I really can't understand why today's vacuums aren't just modern versions of this type of vac. You imagine how good a modern day senior style vac would be, with a 700w motor, still have beater bars and with modern HEPA bag technology. It'd be like the good ol' Hoover's but using the latest tech. I really wish they'd bring out a modern vac like this 😊
I've heard you can convert these with hepa F&G bags and 4 brush agitators, so it's worth it to get one of these old girls. I've converted a Sanitaire SC889A to a 4 row brushroll and with only 780 watts it SPANKS anything this side of a Hoover Senior, Hoover Elite (and it's MANY derivatives, regardless of 7 blade or 20 blade fan), Kirby (Heritage 2 and up), and feels about on par with an older Royal Everlast.
The bottom fill bag works really well for what it is I think. The dirt was designed to fill around the tube until it builds a central concave in the middle and then the dirt would continue to build up, leaving a gap in the centre, until the bag was full. Like you say though, the top fill is definitely a better idea.
Its just too messy to empty though, I think the only way I have done it with letting out 0 dust is to tip the whole machine upside down and then change the bag. Most of my machines are bottom fill apart from the late Junior and Senior, but I think top fill is much better.
My wife had inherited a 652A Senior and, with the help of a friendly parts person, I bought a bunch of bits and converted it to top-fill. Performance was much better, as you say. Sadly, the machine was disposed of years ago.
I didn’t know Kirby has new owners. Are you saying that Scott and Fetzer no longer own them? BTW Roger , you have really nice hands and cute feet! I really enjoy your videos. Thank you
Scott & Fetzer do not own the Kirby brand anymore. Kirby has been removed from their brand portfolio on their website. A company called Right Lane Industries now own the Kirby brand.
Wow. Has that been a long time? Until I subscribe to your channel a couple weeks ago, I haven’t really kept up with the vacuum cleaner industry. I REALLY hope they don’t go to China (or elsewhere for that matter) and become cheap pieces of crap. Thanks for the response. SL
People are bidding over 300 for this model on ebay! I can understand them wanting 150 - 200 for it but 315 & bids still rising?? Is this a more rare model?
As it was exclusive to CoOp there are probably less of this model around so it is rarer than the standard Seniors. I wouldn’t be surprised if the model on eBay gets re-listed due to a non paying winning bidder due to time wasters bidding on items with no intention of paying if they win. It has happened to me a few times and I’ve seen it time and time again on eBay when the bids raise to silly prices.
I love the growl of this machine, and it doesn’t seem overly loud. It’s actually more soothing.
Sounds like a kitten purring...... lovely to hear it in action.... happy memories 😀
My parents had a senior in blue and later a junior in yellowish colour if I remember . Can’t beat the classic old original Hoovers .

When it comes to carpet cleaning, bells and whistles don't do the job-sensible, efficient designs like this Hoover do, and do it beautifully.
I now find myself trawling through EBay looking for a vintage hoover 😱😧😳🤷♂️
I like the style of the hood and headlight. Wish we had that model here in the U.S.A.
Vintage Hoover upright vacuum cleaners were popular in the United Kingdom in the 1960s and 1980s

Am I dreaming two videos in one day
The Hoover one was uploaded by mistake. You should have got that on Wednesday.
@@ibaisaic Nobody is complaining. We appreciate the effort you put into these.
It's doing better at dirt pickup that some of the new cleaners you have done.

I'm tempted to get one more again got three a junior 1346, ranger 4002, and senior 652.
Lovely vac.
Couldn’t have said the ending any better.
It is amazing how far superior a Kirby is built and performs compared to other brands.
Let’s hope Kirby’s new owners don’t start buying in Chinese made vacuums and slapping the Kirby name on them.
I had one of those, but mine was blue
It had a feel goid freq of I think 725 hz.Sane freq as my son's remote control car.
“When you insert the converter, you automatically break off a screw and damage the fan” (lol)!!!
I've seen other collectors cut the too off a Sebo or Miele fleece bag.
Cant beat a Older Hoover Senior whit a vintage vacuum raw power thats why i always use my vintage compact canister nothing matches it

I think it’s a fairly recent development.

@@ibaisaic yes. I was thinking that. I shall keep watching. If the price goes down enough i will pounce on it
How much did that bad boy cost???
Brand new at today's price £450.00
Seems like Hoover cleaners have very poor designs in several ways (ie: converters, bottom fill bags, removal of bottom plate to change belt etc..,)
