I honestly like that they left the joke about going home at the end. I can see this movie being screened in theaters in the future. Movie theaters will show old movies from time to time and I can see this movie having a lasting popularity like all other Pixar films.
I think there was also a Ray Charles reference to Joe Gardner’s father Ray. Jamie Foxx who voices the character won an OSCAR for his Ray Charles portrayal in the movie RAY.
Did anyone notice the soul that seemed depressed and didn’t feel like running away from the great beyond? It made me think that person may have committed suicide
honestly I think terry could be either a he or a she since you can’t really tell, especially since terry is just “the telling of the universe in a way a human mind can comprehend”
I was going to say Soul is like Coco and Inside our having a baby since it deals with the after life, emotions, life experiences, responses, perspectives, etc.
I watched the movie at 2am while everyone was asleep and I definitely don't remember the amount of details and animation progress Pixar has made from Toy Story 1. That's it. I'm rewatching.
At 0:50 in this video he says "considering that the only other numbered soul mentioned in the movie is in the billions..." to infer how old 22 is. However in the movie, after Joe falls into the Great Before/You Seminar and is being mobbed by new souls, the first Jerry comes over to intervene and at 13:21 calls one of the new souls "37".
The ending with Terry telling audiences to go home worked for me. I watched the movie last night at theaters. I'm based in Hong Kong. Relevant, so not odd.
I haven't seen it. I'm stopping this video immediately and renting it! It looks incredible! And actually a new idea for a movie - we all thought man had already tapped the cupboard dry, to mix metaphors.

Co-director Kemp Powers confirmed that Ratzenberger's appearance was not a voice role as per usual, but instead a tribute as a non-speaking background character in the film that was animated in his likeness. Thus, despite Ratzenberger's likeness being represented in the film, Soul is officially the first Pixar film to not feature his voice or personal involvement.
I was watching sister act 2 the other day and noticed an uncanny resemblance towards his mother and rita's mother in soul 2. The personality is identical. Maybe it hints that rita grew up to despise music and found the best part of her musical life was in high school. Considering the movie was taken place in the 80's and she was already a teen ager in the movie this could very well be. She tried to take off her musical career but found it rather difficult. She eventually takes the advice her mother gave her and found a way to pay the bills and became successful at it as an entrepreneur. She eventually grew up and opened a sewing/seamstress shop for the neighborhood. The main character in soul his mother could very well be rita from sister act 2. You know the main reason a lot of props get reused aren't just for Easter Eggs but because they've already been modelled and finalised haha. LESS WORK! Very nice.
I just want to say I’m very happy with Disney having a gender neutral character and NOT having a “it’s a tomboyish woman!” Reveal. Also respect for the narrator using “they” for 22.
