What a lovely way to get some of the flavour of the day. Thanks for taking the time to record and post this If I'm not mistaken you filmed this in Purley, and if I'm right, I once lost a quid in a fruit machine in that "Jolly Farmers", so quickly that it put me off gambling for life.
Remember that spot well. Used to catch a bus home from there for about a year in the early 70’s. Jolly Gardeners was an Ind Coope pub back then. Interesting that people’s respect for these old vehicles has not improved in fact I’d say it’s got worse over the years since I last watched - insufficient room left for braking or turning etc but for a change, a dry day by the looks.
I think it would even enhance that "good-ol-days" sort of "flavour" if those motorists used a red singal disc (lollipop) as an indicator. I know that horse-carriages over here have to use them, and when the owner of Germany's oldest car with a fully valid road registration (a Benz "Victoria" from 1894) takes it out of the museum where it lives as a loan, he waves it.
I am so glad to see this is still going strong my mum my dad and I used to do this run right up until about 1972 and we did it from 1953
PURLEY, had my first real job just round the corner in 1966 ,a lot has changed since then

Glad you enjoyed it
Brings back memories. Love it. Thankyou. 😊😊
Lovely to see. It is such an historic event and it never gets televised , not even a mention on the news.
Purley, lived there for 38 years. Looks cleaner than many other parts of London. Was that by special arrangement, I wonder.
Wonderful! seemingly quite sprightly off the mark some of them ... and not at all smokey (apart from the odd one or two)
Like the bikes with the big wheel
