Is your Ebike power cutting out? Power issues fixed!

- If you are experiencing intermittent power failures, or any kind of power issues with your Electric bike and your battery is the Hailong 2 type. More likely than not this will fix your issues.
The metal contactors inside the battery become "stretched out" over time and need to be bent back so that they make contact with the battery mount prongs again.
It is a relatively easy repair that almost anyone can do at home.
My Heybike Mars had this problem when I had it for 53 weeks, one week after the warranty expired. They did sent me new display for free thinking it was the power button. Didn't work, so I bought a new controller (for cheap) and that didn't fix it.
The Mars battery sits in a well with four prongs that stick up. That's where your video interested me. For my battery I had to remove the housing on the connector end of my batter and actually remove the battery lead clasps and close them in, like in your video. Now my battery makes a secure connection to the prongs in the battery well and my bike is fully functional. I even rode it to work this morning.
I cannot thank you enough for your video.
Just found the pins super lose after 5000 miles of use! Thank you so much for the data.!
my ebike kept cutting out,did what you said, bike works fine now, thanks alot.
I have the same problem. Hopefully this works
Thank you 100x. I had an ebike collecting dust in my garage, this did the trick. I thought I had a bad controller.
You can get electrical contact cement which you can put on contacts that stop corrosion and also ensure a electrically sound connection.
Do you mean contact cleaner?
I recently had to do this. I believe it was from having to take the battery off several times daily in the winter to charge it inside. I never leave my ebike battery in the cold and let it sit inside to warm up before charging it. Just bent the pins tighter together and it works fine now. Too bad I had to spend $70 for a controller that is not needed. Oh well at least I got a spare controller just in case. It was a 4 pin Hailong 1-2 with the power leads only connecting to the outer most pairs.
I bent the metal clips CLOSER together, not farther apart. To enable better contact with the pins when I slid the battery back onto the shoe. That fixed my issue-for now, anyway.
it was a bit difficult wasn't it? bc they wanna remain spread out, poor design
After seeing this video I just sprayed the male and female connections with some contact electrical cleaner. It worked
you just became my idol, thanks for the tip!!! sharing is caring.
Thanks for watching!
I was caught in a rain storm and the bike shut down, I dried it for two days and it started up again so I went for long ride on a beach and it shut down again so, I pedaled my ass 10 miles home, charged the battery and dried it again, took it out it died on me again. I just did what your video suggested and it seems to be ok. I also lost the keys for the battery so, it was alittle loose from prying it off. Thank you so much for this video I think it's fixed, going for a rip now. I will update if it dies again.
Yh same happen to my bike today let me know
We have three Rambo 750 doing this on our elk hunt(2023). We will be trying it today.
Hi, my problem is when I ride it it dies in couple of seconds even beeing full charged, any ideea what the problem would be? It works fine as long I don't ride it,really weird
I have the same issue. The power doesn't cut out, but the motor does.
Why?
I have the same problem the bike cut off while I’m riding then I squeeze break levers then it jumps back on but now it’s worse then before can’t enjoy the bike keep cutting off
@@susiekendrick1650 I ended up having to replace the controller. Works again
Plz did you find solution ?? I have the same
I've been racking my brain trying to figure this out and it's the most simplest things, thank you ❤
cant tell how much this helps, I've been troubleshooting all morning and didn't check this, (just everything else) I'll try this and get back to ya but if u say 90% thats gotta be the issue
Thanks bro worked prefect! After I did this I had to put the battery on charge and hold down the power button. This just reset things and it didn’t cut out anymore
You are a life saver thank you so much for putting this video out ther.
This totally solved my problem. Thx for the video!
Man you are a genius! Save a lot of $. This vid truly helps
Thanks Jhonnynerdout
You said bend them together then u said bend them apart I’m confused
Obviously you bend them together so they are closer to the contacts on the battery
Thank you!!! It worked
Thanks for posting! will give it a try
Thanks for the advice. It solved my problem.
Tried this but it didn't work. Can I replace the connectors all together?
wait a minute you wanna bend these tabs inward so they are closer together not spread them apart, its a bit difficult cuz they wanna remain spread out but you gotta work w it.
I was one day away from ordering the display/thumb throttle for my friends super73 s1, it was pretty poorly cared for with only 600 miles, so much so i replaced kickstand/ headlight/ added accessories. Cant wait to try this tomorrow and hope it works. Display will shit off and then when it is on, theottle is intermediate but PAS will work. Anyone know where to find display just in case?
Mine cuts out the same place (2 miles) and won't come back on until the charger is connected. It sparked a few times when I previously connected the charger, could thus have damaged something? Also the energy bar (battery level) always says 100% on the display
I have the same problem, still don't know how to fix this,do you have any suggestions?
@@dacianking8609 I removed the bms, wired it up without it and haven't had a problem for more than 800 miles. But if you know nothing about batteries or electronics buy a new battery. If you do, buy a new bms and solder it on yourself. The reason this happened is plugging charger in to battery whilst still connected to bike. I'm guessing you've done the same and saw sparks now and again when connecting charger cable?
@@dacianking8609 also the bms makes sure it doesn't overcharge and set fire to battery. So I use a multimeter to measure the voltage. 54.6 is max it should be charged and I set alarms to let me know when to disconnect. I do not recommend this, even though it works for me, it is extremely dangerous to the unaware. Buy a new battery. Sorry I know it's the worst news to hear. You can wire three DeWalt 9ah 18v batteries parallel giving a whopping 27 ah battery life for £100 ish. Learn about batteries on RUclips. It's super easy.
thank you !!for showing how to remove the holder, I was looking for it everywhere
What if you have a battery with the round plug with two prongs in the center. Females on the battery and males on the bike?
The prongs in the centre are grounds they don't actually do anything
These suck had that problem constantly due to dune jumping ect so I brought the two pole connecter from Luna cycle, fits the battto the bit you slide it on allot better with out movement that causes arcing ect.
Will dielectric grease help?
I'm trying this method right now but my bike still seems to shut off shortly after using the throttle or putting it in any power mode basically.
Update: so at first the screwdriver trick didn't seem to work like in the video so I followed someone's advice on spraying electric contact cleaner on the male and female ends. Now the battery won't even turn on. I'm afraid I just screwed myself.
Second update: the battery came back on but it still died immediately after I tried to use pedal assist or the throttle. I give up.
My m20 shit the bed. Its a brand new $1400 paper weight.
Thanks champion,worked for me.
Thanks so much, I'll bet that's it!
You said to bend them together until almost touching. Then said bend them further apart?? Can you elaborate? Thank you for the vid too!!
That did the trick. Thank you!
I'll try it. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip
I have this problem i think, when i turn the throttle handle the bike starts to move but then stops and even jerks. I tried this fix but it did not seem to work. One thing i did notice is, on my shoe i have 5 pins but only 4 tabs on the battery to close up. The one in the middle is a blank or have they broken off? Should i have 5? On yours you have 4 of each.
I have the same issue with the power cutting out, did u find a fix?
@ALD yes. I found that a break sensor was too good. When I hit a bump it triggered the brake and the bike cut out. I had to replace the unit and now it is fine. I originally dis one cited everything and ran the bike after plugging in each thing individually
Hello, I have no idea what it could be, but my fat bike (ouxie v8) is working perfectly, charges well and everything works, etc. until the battery drops below a certain percentage, approximately after 15 km of riding, then it still shows on my screen It seems to have around 46 volt output, but as soon as the support starts working it cuts out after a second and the lights that indicate how full the battery is no longer work, I have never actually had this problem but it came out of nowhere. Do you know if something like this can be solved and if you have any tips, that would be great!
bro i was so worried. thank you so mf much
I seem to be getting this problem but it works when I'm not on the bike but when I off the bike and pull the throttle it goes without error 6 but when I ride it it works then does error 6
I have a Swagtron eb-5 and if I power it on and ride it it acts as if it was turned off when it’s still powered on, then it starts working again after 30 seconds then repeats. Idk if the problem is this or if the battery is done for, my father left it on his shed all winter and I believe the cold weather damaged it. I may be returning it to Swagtron to be repaired.
Cold storage doesn’t hurt lithium batteries, but some are self- heated for extreme cold use.
Thanks from Spain. 🚴♀🔧🪛
Thank you!
Hi have tried this and 4 more batterys still getting a decent in power loss it comes back on with in seconds can it be the battery to low in power as in 52 to 72 v for a 1500w motor 17ah controller
Having this same problem but I tried this and it didn’t work. Any other ideas?
Any ideas how to remove a battery that's gotten stuck on the frame and yes I have turned the The key. But it won't budge the matter how hard I push and pull. Please help I rellay don't want to have to send it back to my dealer. For a simple fix.
Cool video 😮😊
My Ancheer failed after 2 weeks. Battery looks like that. Multimeter test....... 1 and 4, 54 volts. 2 and 3, zero. 2 and 4, zero. Is that bad?
what if my bike works with throttle but when I use paddle assist cuts out? Sometimes it works for miles sometimes every second turn just cuts off its really frustrating any idea?
Hello,
I have NKY226B02 battery and NKJ039 battery charger. The battery was dead so I send it to the regeneration. After the regeneration I put the battery to the charger and it's charging very slowly. I measured it. There was 27,4V and 0,135A (charger is 29,4V 1,8A) - maybe the charger is faulty also. I put the battery to the laboratory power supply. I put on 29,4V and 1,8A. At the start the battery takes something like 0,175A and after one second it's disconnecting charging. Do I have to put some voltage to the third pin, (between third pin and negative is 10k Ohms - guess NTC sensor) to force the BMS to charge? I'm so confused because I don't know that something goes wrong with regeneration, the charger lost the current efficiency or what? Please if You can give me the advice, since I have no experience with that type of electronics.
Please help me 😫 i did this and did not alive my problem…..I have the same battery and plate, my bike was working fine and one day stopped turning on……the battery still shows it’s charged and All my wires are connected securely……..lcd won’t turn on plz help.
hey could ypu please help i recently bought an ado a20 and it just cuts off even though the battery shows i hav 38.5v in the battery hav tried this but wasnt the issue any help wud be appreciatef thank u
I have same bettery, the pins has no volatge also battery level display is blank. Has 60% charge. please advise.
put it on charge for 24 hours
What happens if you take out the 4 screws that seem to be holding the outer cover in place. Looks like it may actually reveal the pins your talking about. Better than shoving a screwdriver beyond where you can see right?
I have the same Hail-long brand battery on order. A 18650 1000w 49v Samsung battery.
Its the female pins that you have to fix. They are on the battery. You dont want to unscrew the battery cover if you don't really have to. Trust me on that.
His talking?
Hello! I have a Scott e-sub tour bike and i have a problem with the motor. It suddenly started not connecting the gears inside. I mean: whether or not the bike is on or off, when pedaling i dont get any transmission inside the motor. Please help!

Sadly this didn't work for me. Is the battery supposed to be producing voltage across all 4 prongs? I'm only getting volts on the meter across the two outer most prongs, but it is still registering 39 volts on a 36 volt battery. The volt meter is also showing that only the same outer most prongs (one negative, one positive) have continuity as well.
Even with just the outer prongs, 39v is 39v and should run your sysem. Does the display come on at all when you try to power it up?
@@nomadcyclespdx The Display turns on, and shows a full battery. The motor will run as long as it does not exceed 100w draw on the battery, either in pedal assist or hand throttle, but the instant it goes over that 100w level, the display immediately turns off and will not turn back on until I take the battery off the bike and reinsert it, then it'll repeat the same thing.
I am assuming (90% sure) the battery is just going bad, given I just eclipsed the 1400 mile mark on it over the past two years and, before the battery started acting wonky, I was using the bike daily, both for fun and commuting to work, and before this issue, it was starting to discharge SIGNIFICANTLY quicker than when it was new, and trips I used to be able to do on full electric with power to spare were draining it down.
The issue is I don't know any other way of testing it other than with the volt meter, and I am paranoid that there is something else wrong with the bike that I can't find.
@@Malachi_Marx mine keeps cutting out at the exact same place. Which is a good walk away lol. Shengmilo are sending me a new circuit board for the battery, if this fixes it I'll let you know mate
I've got the same battery but a later model that doesn't have connectors that you can bend. But the symptoms seem right for this to be the problem. Any thoughts?
Hello Rowan, can you send a photo of what your working with to my email? brad@nomadcyclespdx.com
I shocked myself
hey... i have 36 volt 500 watt hub engine front wheel kit that i bought for 6 years ago...it started to cut and stop when im climing...never done that before..so i thought my batteri was finished..so i bought a new 36 volt 10.4 amp..but it still keep stopping when it get to a hill/climing..so im woundring what is wrong..? can some body help me..:)

If this is the problem does the display turn off also?
Yes!
my bike is turning off when i turn left , and i cant turn it on if its on left side :/
Often, if the main wire harness has connectors close to the head tube of a bike, a short will develop over time. If you want help with it, email me at brad@nomadcyclespdx.com
My m20 is trash. I replaced the rear tire tube because a leaking valve stem from the factory. I only unplugged the 1 connection. The bike has power, but now it won't work on pedal assist or throttle and no shops will touch it. PIECE OF 💩
I have a electric scooter that works for less than a minute, goes as if it dies then after a few seconds it works again can anyone help thanks
*_Is your Ebike power cutting out?_* Then you should have bought a better bike, Pumpkin.
that didn't work with me !
I’ve lost the key for this type off battery. Any advice to unlock the battery..?
I can get you an entirely new tumbler, with a new set of keys. You have to drill out the existing lock, to get it to release. If you want one, please email, brad@nomadcyclespdx.com
My bike cut out on hills
Same thing is happening on my electric scooter, I bought a lithium 20AH battery for it but it keeps cutting out when i have stopped an starting off again, sometimes tho it is cutting out on me, An i do not know why, Can anyone help me on this plz......................
You got it fixed yet, I’m under the same issue
@@rahabrizmy Breaks was my issue, Has a safety cut off wire an if the break gets pulled in even a tiny bit the motor cuts out, That might be same issue with you aswell..
@@mad-b264 thanks, I’d like to clarify that after the power cuts out does it require to remove and reattach the battery wire in order for it to work again ?
@@rahabrizmy If the battery got a BMS, Then no, As far as I know, Lol, The Battery management system stops the battery over charging or short circuiting, It all goes down too how expensive the battery was, Again unless we as people pay big money for quality we get duped into buying crap, There is a lot of vids online with people selling something as the best online until you buy it that is, The world of Personal Electric Transport is far too expensive, 4-6 grand for a electric bike just coz it goes 40-50 mph is going bit too far if you ask me, Even the wolf warrior electric scooter could be bit cheaper in my eyes, Mass production an with covid-19 I thought the government would be pushing for people too use PEV, Scooter or electric bike, Transport on your own single person vehicle, I loves my scooter, Needs an upgrade or new one but the cost is what's stopping me upgrade, Wish government would help more people use a form of PEV transport...

What your wanna gonna do ???????
Battery suddenly stopped ?

Gonna wanna lol
While riding my e bike it ride fast then it slow down
In the UK they are limited to about 16mph so if you go faster than this it will switch off until you drop your speed to below 16pmh. You can cycle faster but you will not get any help from the motor.
who tought you English?
Im having the same issue. This is happenning while the speed limiter is disconnected. So its not because of speed limit. I've replaced motor, lcd, controller and pas sensor (i have a spare ebike). Problem persists. Which can only mean its the battery. :(
