I have ran Hercules tires for 20 years… my neighbors had a tire shop and I bought through them. AT, road tires, Mud Tires… all were great.

I used Dynabeeds on my Harley. I hated them, at low speed it caused vibration from being out of ballance. HD corp was not happy and made the dealer rebalance them without the need a for free and required them to stop selling them.
On a trailer - no problem, mud on the tires - should work. I just wanted to put that out there, they are not for light weight cars and motorcycles.

There's too many factors coming into play to get a mileage warranty. I always told my customers it was expected service life, not a warranty, and was simply a way of comparing one tire to another when deciding what to buy.

Great video and super content! You keep hitting all the right buttons with your educational approach to what everyone needs to know to navigate life’s daily challenges better! 👍👍. I’m a Continental tire guy for my F350. They are what came on it and I’ve had the best service out of them. Mine are loaded rated @ 121 and speed rated at an “S”. To add to the conversations on things that really affect tire wear……. The front linkage components wearing, such as tie rod ends, shocks, U-joints at front axle ends on 4WD trucks and steering boxes on older trucks like I drive. I’m about to cross over the 600,000 mile threshold and it’s my daily driver, toter, hauler etc. I’m just totally all over preventative Maintence. I will never have another truck because of the $100,000 dollar price tags these days and would rather take extremely good care of this one and save $$$$. Again PERFECT content!! 🔥🔥👍👍

The biggest problem I have is knowing proper inflation. Do you go by the vehicle manufacturer or do you go by what the tire actually says, or do you split the difference? I have found neither matches.

    • @RockhillfarmYT

These tires say 80 and my vehicle says 65
I think without it loaded Trailer 65 is probably good but if you’re way down, I would go 80.
Not really an expert but I had them set them at 75

    • @amandadavis9726

You have to go off of weight,…believe it or not. This is speaking from experience. If you have an HD pickup,…the fronts should be inflated to max. I set my rears according to how much contact the tire is actually making with the ground. By doing that, you inflate the rears to max, and then drive a half mile or so, and then stop and check to see how much is touching the ground by looking at the tread. You’ll notice that the tread will “appear” to have two colors. The lighter color is simply the dirt from the road, and the darker is the tire itself,…which is usually toward the shoulders. You’ll want to lower the pressure until you get about half of the shoulder lugs in contact with the road. I’ve been doing it that way for almost 25 years,…and I get good even wear on my tires. Don’t ever go by the door jam sticker. You’ll never get max life from your tires. I’ve even done that on my duallies over the years. Right now, the tires on my ‘05 Chevy 3500, I run 265/75-16 HTs, and are set at 80 fronts, and 65 rears. My ‘06 Dodge 2500 is set at 80F/70R. I rotate the tires at every oil change at 5k miles.

Good morning Brock. The only tires that I'll buy are Good Years. I'm on my second set of Good Year Dura Tracs on my Tundra. It has 18" wheels and I paid $350. each. I can usually get 75 to 80 thousand miles out of them. They're not noisy but you could climb the side of the Empire State Building in a blizzard with them. The cupping on the front tires in my experience is normal on a 4 wd. vehicle but you can minimize it by keeping the tires rotated regularly. 5000 miles is recommended but since I'm older now and get it done at the dealer I let it go to 10,000 miles. I don't really know anything about Hercules tires so keep us informed about how they work for you. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂

Just put on a new set of shoes on my 2021 Sierra AT4 1500. The factory Duratrac mud tires at 29k miles got so noisy it drove me crazy. The tires I chose only come 10 ply rated so they are about twice as heavy, but boy are they quiet. Still had 40% or better on the old ones...Choices we make I guess.

The torque sticks use a twisting motion to make the stop tighting. If you read the instructions on a set of torque sticks they tell you only use a air impact set to torque 250lbs. I tried these on a m18 milwaukee ½" drive impact rated torque 400lbs. A 75 foot pound rated stick was torquing to 100 foot pounds. They are good to get you really close if everything is setup right. I think they are a good idea and help people to not over tight nuts and bolts.
I personally have a thing about quality name brand tires (Michelin, nitto or toyo) on my 2500 and 3500 that i haul heavy with or drive long distances with. I gotten 75k out of Michelins. I also try not buy china made tires. We all get stuck on trailer tires with china made tires and they don't last for me anyway. Now my beater drive to work truck I'll run cheap tires on because they rot off before i wear them out.
I haven't tried balance beads in tires. I have had friends that have and talked about them both good and bad. The biggest complaint they had is driving under 30mph they don't really work (this is what they are telling me). I would like to know what you think about balance beads.

Tires are so much better than even 10 years ago!
I use tire rack and consumer reports for reviews. And buy from tire rack. When the tire manufacturer has a sale, almost always.
I have winter and summer tires on most of my vehicles, truck for sure. Winter tires let me pull out a couple random drivers every winter. None of whom have winter tires!
I also have a brother in law with a tie mounting thing, so I but him some beer, then take them to Walmart to balance.
Separate wheels for each set, so I almost never have to mount/balance.
Edit: range d and e are rarely needed unless towing regularly at max tongue weight. And range c is much smoother.

Torque sticks have to be used properly. The gun has to be slightly set higher than the torque stick rating. Too low and you can have loose lug nuts. To high and you can still over tighten the lug nut. ( the stick acts like a spring )

Hey Brock, loved the video. It was really good and informative. I have some questions. I’m searching the Hercules website for ram 2500 trucks (which I plan to acquire soon); it keeps saying they don’t make it no matter what configuration I put in Hercules. What model tire did you get exactly? My second question is I love those ceramic beads from M-Pact. They used to have a similar product for Harleys back of the day. The problem was, though the beads would first polish and wear through the actual tire hub. I’m pretty sure those bees though were metal. Do they have any information on what effect they have on tire hubs? Anyway, this is a really great video and Colleen and I really enjoyed it.

If I'm not happy with the tires and take them back, what do they do with the tires - sell them at a slightly discounted price to somebody else or do they offer them to me at a cheaper price, or?

Driving a heavy duty truck, you aren't gonna get 40-60k out of a set of tires, its a heavy truck, its built to work, tow, haul, etc. you have a lot of weight riding on those tires...so NEVER expect to get the tread life that is advertised. You need a set of tires rated for the weight of the truck, plus whatever you might be towing, so putting passenger car tires on a heavy duty truck is a poor idea, not to mention makes the truck pretty useless for its actual purpose...you overload the tires just about immediately in just truck weight LOL. I have 10 ply tires on my HD truck, they are a light all terrain tire, so they are a bit more aggressive than a set of all season tires, but not very aggressive to get the obnoxious highway noise you'll get with the mud terrain type tires that so many people think they need.

    • @rodneythornburg818
      @rodneythornburg818 4 месяца назад

You are running the wrong tires, not keeping correct air pressure or rotating them when they need it. I've gotten 60k, 70k and 75k out of a set of tires on 2500 and 3500 diesel engine trucks. I know people that haul heavy loaded trailers 2 or 3 times a week and are 60k to 70k out of a set of tires.
It all comes down to a quality tire, air pressure, front end inline, rotating regularly and not doing burn out.
