- Here I'm jamming the piece I put together for my Jackson American Series Soloist feature "The Soloist with Brandon Ellis", and of course teaching it for the SLD members. When I flew to LA to perform this for their pro-shot video, I had no idea I was going to have to play it on a strap, hahah! I would have prepared something easier... Instead I threw in every difficult technique I know. Here I am in the comfort of my Herman Miller Aeron chair doing it the most justice I can and showing off this great sounding and playing axe.

Dude everytime you post it makes me pick up my guitar and just wail. Forever an inspiration.
Agreed, me too!
Same
Had to reply. Same for me too.
Yep
I also have to pick up my guitar - to throw it out of the window! :D
Dude please make a solo album of this greatness!!!
Dude. You're my favorite guitarist of all time
More than Marty Friedman?
i like this guy as much as kiko loureiro and tosin abasi, with javier reyes they make my top four
But what about *Insert any guitarist that I like more*??? What about them?? Yall need to stop ✋️
@@JuniperF Dude, no one will top Jimi...
(I'm jk)
Even more than Domenico Bini?
Everything this guy plays sounds amazing to me i don't know why
+ it is so much fun to watch
I love your bends and vibrato so much man.
Your tone and attack is the sound we all try to achieve. You're playing is incredible as well. You inspire all of us to be better players. Thank you!
Here’s his setup from what I remember:
EVH 5150 III EL34
EVH 5150 Iconic
Maxon OD808 Overdrive Pedal
MXR Carbon Copy Delay Pedal
Jim Dunlop Flow 1.0 mm Ultex picks (he used to use Tortex, but I’m not sure if he permanently switched to Ultex)
Jackson Brandon Ellis Signature Kelly (he modded it most recently with EVO Gold fretwire, Hantug Floyd Rose tremolos, Schaller Sure Claws and a Seymour Duncan pickup that he created using a PAB-1 and some other model that I can’t remember off the top of my head)
Jim Dunlop Performance Plus strings (11-56 for C standard tuning, 9-46 for E standard tuning)
Brandon’s a hell of a player and a gearhead as well!
I was kind of burnt out on guitar , but you always make me practice again sooner or later.
Thank you!
Maybe guitar is not for you if you need someone else to motivate you to pick it up.
@@thereisnopandemic Well I have been playing for over 15 years. It can get frustrating when you feel like you are not progressing after practicing for years ...
Stupid comment. Burnout is a real thing in every institution
@@thereisnopandemic That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard regarding guitar playing. So by your logic, every single guitar player out there just decided they're going to pick up a guitar without listening to ANY music before hand? People are inspired by music, and music is created by people who play INSTRUMENTS, so as musicians we're all inspired by other people. I've been playing for around 22 years and I agree with s4tchowns, It can get frustrating sometimes when trying to improve technical ability, and sometimes we just need that one thing to "remind" us why we do it.
Finally, we have someone who is obviously very talented with the 80's style super tasty, bluesy, yet neoclassical and technical playing style. Great feel great attack combined with the awesome mix of creative phrases in interesting soloing. Real pleasure to listen those solos. Keep on shredding. 🤘
always such a sinister melodic vibe 10/10
Yesssss so sick
Brandon can play the guitar better than I can dream of playing.
This boy is amazing! Great feeling and vibrato!! 🤘🤘🙌👏👏
spectacular playing so clean and fluid
Yes! What a Jackson is for 🤘🤘🤘 💥💥💥
One my favorite recent solos of yours B.E. well done! it has a classical/orchestral vibe to it.
Now that's a demo!
Everything you play sounds so precise and well executed. So good!
Fucking incredible runs. That picking hand is just fascinating
Best vibrato in the business 🤟🤟🍻
When I need inspiration this is the dude I watch!!! Thank you
the best modern player of this generation.
Very cool! Jackson is lucky to have you onboard. Saw the video you did on their channel. Nice that you got one of these. I like the color.
This is Paul Gilbert level sweeping arpeggios. Just so smooth and seamless.
interesting enough paul gilbert said himself he is not good at sweeping
Paul doesn't sweep :D always string skipping. Jason Becker level though!!!
Heard some Greg Howe influence at 1:03
Great composition, Brandon Ellis! Congrats for the endorsee Jackson guitars.
I just watched your Tornado of Souls cover... just woooow. I've listened to so many covers of that song and hands down, yours is on another level. I can go as far as to say that I think I liked yours more than the original. Goddamn it was amazing.
Beautiful melodies, and yes! that soloist sound amazing!
Just one word: professional!
That guitar is beautiful and Brandon's playing is smooth as silk. I could listen to him all day.
Just fixed my jackson performer, this got me keen as on getting stuck back into it, maddest guitar player!
Вот чей обзор на новую коллекцию Jackson я хотел посмотреть!
So inspirational! Damn I wish someday I'll play on this level of brilliance.

That little hommage to Yngwie is very classy for those who remember that REH video.
You’re not in the zone man, you’ve become the mayor of the zone !

Sick playing
Yeah, you make that Jackson sound soooo epic! And it looks great too :)
Your playing always makes me go from six to noon..
So I guess after you shot that commercial for Jackson you took off running with the guitar? 🤣
I just pictured him jumping through a window lol
😶🌫️
First stop - upgrade the trem 😂
@@jessemitchell4618 *oooops*
@jessemitchell4618 To what? The OFR is almost exactly the same, and actually missing features over the 1500. You could “upgrade” to a Gotoh 1996 or a OFR, but the difference will be negligible.
God that was nice
SICK !!!
The new Gibson SL3!
They never thought electric guitar could sound as beautiful as cello or violin.
Awesome Brandon killer tone great licks is that going through your 5150
Shred is back!
woaaaaaaaaaaaaa killer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'd love to hear this over a backing track
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Amazing. And is that a Leatherwolf shirt?
Love ur guitar collection brandon, that color is spot on!!!! What shade of blue is that??? It is killer!
They call it riviera blue! Its a pretty unique shade, like a pastel baby blue
Great!
Fuck yeah dude!!

Nice bro I got my x series sl3x neon orange 🧡 soloist and gave her azz a shred adjustment 😜 I love using those big chords too your my hero your the guitar hero 🎸 that's classy not trashy but only thrashy lmao
Could you please do "Death mask Devine" ? It's one of my favorites. Keep shedding Brandon!

You a fan of Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem)? A couple of the things you played sound like him.
Now do a JS32 demo :D
That h&k sounds killer! I believe that’s what your playing through?
Thats right, Triamp Mk3
@@BrandonEllisGtr man I tried to win one when h&k did that competition. I was jamming on my gm40 today check it out if you have time ruclips.net/video/9plH_CM8X2g/видео.html

Your vibrato is sooooooooooo f*#*÷*ng good

I thought you were just a random guitarist till now lol. Then today I saw that you are the guitarist for BDM a name I heard somewhere.
0:57 I heard that somewhere but not on a guitar. I just can't remember though.
Fuck yeah!
You should do some work with Jordan Ziff
I feel that You, mr. Ellis, must do an collaboration with Jeff Loomis
I have seen some complaints that the bridge is a 1500 series instead of an OFR or even Schaller Floyd, especially when there are Jacksons at lesser price ranges with an OFR, what is your opinion? Is the current bridge sufficient?
Is there a Jackson at a lesser price point with an OFR? I think the japan ones have gotohs... Honestly on my guitars I only use the Hantug trems, titanium and stainless steel, anything less is a compromise to me. The original floyd, I will want to put on a push in style bar assembly, and swap the screws for stainless etc. The 1500 is made of the same materials to the same spec, but has those upgrades already, but is made in korea. Out of the box Id take it over an out of the box OFR. But if you upgrade out an OFR you get something slightly better. I like the Gotohs probably better than OFRs because of their bar assembly. Luckily the route these days accomodates all of these options and people who want to upgrade their hardware will do so as they please. I think it makes sense what they did with the 1500 to keep the price point attainable for more people but to also have a trem that can perform well out of the box for much time to come.
@@BrandonEllisGtr So the newer Japan series have OFRs from what it claims on the jackson site for 8 to 9 hundred less than this series, I am not a trem guy personally, everything I have is fixed besides a charvel dk24, but I get being disappointed the real deal or equivalent isn't on an american product. I would be interested in the Sophia replacements personally.
@@TheGreatBaronOBeefDip can you point me to that? Im genuinely curious, all I am finding is the MJ Soloist sl2 for 2700 with the gotoh, or the concept series soloist made in korea
@@BrandonEllisGtr Its the concert series walnut soloist for 600 less dollars, I saw it in a video by a guy named sixstrings.
@@TheGreatBaronOBeefDip right, those are made in korea, kinda the opposite compromise
Just wondering if there’s any more plans for tbdm as a fan who’s on the ground floor from the beginning I just wanted to say your work in that band was paramount and I miss it already
Brian (guitarist) is taking the vocal helm and previous guitarist, Ryan Knight, will take his place on the guitar alongside Brandon 🤘
@@colinlehman6379 I read the article the day they posted I’m hoping this is the right move and it’s received well, I’m definitely looking forward to it!
@@GoatneckRCC Me too! I have a feeling they are gonna absolutely crush it though!
Is that a Jason Becker thing in the middle there?
RAD! 🤘
🤘😎🤘
Who is this guy that makes this guitar speak in this manner 😂 Great playing and guitar
At a 3k price point, do they put the 1500 Floyd on because of the compound radius? An Original Floyd requires serious shimming to get flat enough but for the money, a cheaper model dressed with stainless screws seems a little disappointing.
As far as I know the 1000 is same spec as the OFR so I don't think so. I think the reason is so the guitar costs 2600 and not 3k. And the unit functions just as well, or in my opinion, better, with the push in bar... To be a little contrarian, I think it is absolutely insane that an Original Floyd Rose doesn't come with stainless steel hardware, or a bar assembly that can rival Gotoh's at half the price. I think the 1500, while being made in a country that people perceive in the guitar world as second class (which is a pretty disagreeable outlook to me anyways), is a step in the right direction by coming out of the box with the bare minimum level of upgrades I'd need to do to feel comfortable taking it on tour. On my signature kelly we have a floyd 1000 instead of an OFR because I wanted the price of the guitar to be attainable. Obviously I spare no expense on my floyds, I use 900 dollar titanium trems on my stage guitars. But the people who love their guitars will play with their hardware and pickups etc. The SL3 is not meant to be the top top top end of the line. Its the same model designation as the budget soloists of old. Its a utilitarian entry level into a USA Jackson made on a production level that comes in at LESS than 3k in a USA where inflation is absolutely rife...look around...I can't believe what things cost these days in every day life, but I am getting used to it.
