I’m from Finland and our press is already deeper in this discussion. Just few points 1. We don’t use rake attachments in tractors/bulldozers, americans do. We do collect the branches and stuff with machines, but it’s for energy harvesting, not to prevent forest fires. 2. We thin out the forests. In result, there’s less demand for water from the trees, so there are plants growing on the forest bed. This cools down the air in the forest. 3. Climate: it just rained for three weeks and now the temperature dropped below zero and will propably stay that way for few months. If it rains alot during winter, the melting snow is going to keep the ground wet for a while. Point 3 doesn’t really apply to California or any state in the south.
One Plus I don’t work in the logging industry. My family owns some forest and I’ve been involved in the clear cutting in the past. The fuel from the forest floor was always collected, but it was more of a trash (one year we burned it in a bonfire). Today it’s worth something.

Last summer was really hot and dry and one weekend there was 4 simultaneous forest fires near the capital along 4 of the 6 main highways. To be fair Finland isn’t known for its wildfires so they must be doing something right, all California needs to do is relocate all their forests to the arctic circle and BAM problem solved. Pretty sure Finland is mostly under snow by this time of year so that is a great fire preventative and then when the snow melts in Summer the ground is too wet for fires. So you see the problem with California is simply location you’d think a realestate guy would know that.

To be fair Finland isn’t known for its wildfires so they must be doing something right, all California needs to do is relocate all their forests to the arctic circle and BAM problem solved.
Pretty sure Finland is mostly under snow by this time of year so that is a great fire preventative and then when the snow melts in Summer the ground is too wet for fires. So you see the problem with California is simply location you’d think a realestate guy would know that.
Still waiting for snow, but the last few months have been very wet, and it's already so cold that the water doesn't evaporate from the ground until next spring. Winter in California is like chilly summer day in Finland.

cleaning up the forest to prevent fire is nothing new. I learned about this in school in Norway 20 years ago. The problem with america is that you live in cities where nobody lived 100 years ago and every time you try to stop a forrest fire you just make the next fire even worse. Then you blame global warming and Trump for all your problems. We always had forrest fire in cold countries like Norway. We even had a problem with malaria in the 1800s.
