probably sitting in at his wood desk in his house made of wood writing slogans on cardbord placlards about saving the forests. so long as we replant its better than waiting for a dry year and a forest fire then what good did the trees do?
this is so close to where i live im only 17 but i have a huge interest in this kind of stuff my dad has been logging this island for like 25 years now and always looked up towards that, So now its my time to get in this buissness!
This is really interesting to me and should be shown to all those countries and companies thinking of felling trees where no trees will be replaced. It is obvious the trees still standing are a 'harbour' for animals and creates its own weather allowing the water that would either drop on the hillside or on the river's 'flood-plain' to be soaked up and used to fix the trees and hillside and everything else to the land, thus preventing floods and landslides. Do have any info on planting of trees?
I wonder if you can tell me what happens with the off-cuts and branches ripped off the new trees. Is that waste a danger to the growth of the new Forest, and do you leave all that waste in straight lines that will not encumber the planting of the new trees? Often thought about that and also wondered if you need to 'tidy-up' as you go or whether, by the time the new Forest is planted most of those off-cuts with have started to break down naturally? I thank you so much for this brilliant video.
Hi Toby, I almost wrote Tony, how many times has that happened to you, ;-). That phrase Hoi chucker is new to me though I have watch thousands of Forestry vids. Take care, I have subbed, and I thank you so much for the explanation, it helps to grab whats going on straight away, thank you. mrbluenun
I would be most obliged if anyone can tell me what the piece of metal used as a 'lever' to rest the end of the log when moving, is called. As this seems to be a pretty serious and part way knowledgeable comments list I am subbing all those here, you do not have to tell me what you will be sending me as payment for this I am kind that way! ;-) Joking needless to say!!! ;-) :-) :-D
I like the cable log loaders - much more than the boring hydraulics ;-)
I got quite a few hits on this video so I was thinking some might think Hoe Chucking might mean something totally different all together.

I believe you referring to the heel.
It's called a heel.
mrbluenun do you mean the heel rack that's on the boom of the shovel?
looks pretty f,n slow to me ! a back spar & grappel yarder would lick that up twice as fast ???
tarde o temprano les cobrará factura la naturaleza ..
what a cluster fuck, a 6 man crew, including shovel and yarder operator would have this knocked out no time.
Yes, I'm sure that Western Forest Products knows exactly what their costs are on this block. Somehow I doubt you do.
So is it cool to cut Old Growth Forests on Vancouver Island? People noticed you guys cut 12 foot Diameter Cedars near Port Renfrew. Not cool.
Ben Stewart no it is real cool !
Piss off hippie to another channel.
Nothing lasts forever. get use to it. And if you think they do this with malice then you as dumb as you look.
