    thank you for the video i ended up doing the same thing changing out the stock filter and replaced it a racor 645 fuel filter assembly with the water separator including the clear fuel bowl that's under the filter diaphram and so far its been working excellent i had the same problem last winter the engine would start and cut out after 10 seconds

  • @SuperDryBeef
    @SuperDryBeef 8 лет назад +10

    quick tip: fill the filter with fuel before putting it on so the pump won't have to fill it before it can reach the engine.

      He is still driving it and loves it. Guy never does any maintenance so I doubt he has even replaced the filter on it since we did the conversion 🤣

      Lol I bought a dorman I’m gonna replace mine with guy told me to cut the wire at the base on old and new and solder old heater and water wires to new Dorman base and water separator wire can’t quite remember which ones are which but I’m pretty sure he eliminated the one in the middle of it’s been 5 yrs and he’s still driving it without wires connected I should assume I should worry about hooking the wires up but at the same time not totally deleting them lol

    you guys should disconnected the pink wire on i.p. and NOT hooked up the hose suction side of the i.p. until fuel came out of the napa base cranking it(also 8 glows disconnected if on the OEM card still) .... THEN hook up suction hose to i.p. and reconnect pink wire it would have fired right up yall cranked for a whole minute on that starter thru the high point air bubbles in the new filter base bleeding air while letting air goto to i.p. Just went through it draining 'H2o' from the stock base. I forgot to reprime the base thru the top vent. If you prime the base via top vent (w pink wire pulled on the i.p.) beforehand they fire right TF up! Prime the base by cranking w/o the hose hooked up and i.p. off!

    On the drain line, did you plug it off or leave it wide open?

    Everyone read this filter it's not meant for installation of diesel engines, that modification can cause a serious explosion injury or death.

      @EKAutoTech  11 месяцев назад

      Can you provide a link to something showing this? Do me a favor. Get a coffee can fill it with diesel, drop a match on it and lets see how explosive diesel fuel/home heating oil is. Record it post it an youtube for us to see.

    Can you please show me how the fuel lines get connected, which fuel line goes where I have the same filter.
    And did you put a electric fuel pump or is it still a manual fuel pump ?

      Even a diagram

    • @EKAutoTech
      @EKAutoTech  6 лет назад +4

      George Orwell when you remove the factory fuel filter you will see some rubber hoses. The factory filter housing is marked with inlet and out when you remove it.
      When you connect those hoses to the new filter, simply connect the one from the fuel tank to the inlet side(left side of new filter assembly), and the other hose to the outlet (right side of new filter assembly).
      We did not replace the pump with an electric one. We kept the original. Hope this helps.

  • @EKAutoTech
    @EKAutoTech  8 лет назад +1

    I'll get u the part numbers soon, but as far as the lines go it's pretty easy since the factory fuel filter housing has "inlet" marked on one of the fuel line ports

    • @EKAutoTech
      @EKAutoTech  8 лет назад

      +EK Auto Tech @Brendan, the Fuel filter kit you can buy at NAPA, and the part is PurePro F100-6W. It usually goes on a home oil heating system, but it will work on your diesel, as it is basically the same fuel just dyed a different color and taxed up the wazooo. Kit comes with the filter, bracket, and gauge.

      +Dethklok do you mean the little breather screw on the top new filter housing? if so, you have to use a thread sealer. Either teflon tape or something similar to make sure it doesntt drip

    • @EKAutoTech
      @EKAutoTech  8 лет назад

      Edwin Cases the third hose is just for the water in fuel drain tube. you dont need it with the replacement setup we installed. if u change the filter often enough, water in fuel shouldnt be an issue.

  • @jeremycole6450
    @jeremycole6450 8 лет назад

    Where did you get this fuel filter set, with the bracket and gauge? By turning that screw were you bleeding the air out of the system that way or did you just have to crank until it was gone

    • @EKAutoTech
      @EKAutoTech  8 лет назад +2

      Jeremy Cole thanks for watching. the bracket is the same bracket that holds the factory style filter, we just flipped it. that screw on the top is used to bleed off air. when putting the spin on filter on, we fill it with diesel, install it, then with the bleeder screw loosened, we crank the engine until diesel starts to come out. once it comes out, tighten the screw and you should be all set. the filter and guage came as a set from home depot. it can be found in the heating system area.

    Thats an oil filter isnt it....alot of other conversion videos people are using #3123 fuel filter from Napa how is the one your using filtering fuel.....dont know much about my truck response would help.Thanks!

    • @EKAutoTech
      @EKAutoTech  5 лет назад

      Yes, the filter here is a home heating oil filter. Home heating oil is virtually the same as diesel fuel. The truck owner who brought the whole setup works on heating systems and decided to use the heating oil filter he had on hand.
