"It's not a fire truck unless it's got a Q-Siren."
With more than 50 years of fire service tradition and history, the Federal Signal Q2B Electro-Mechanical Siren is a beautifully streamlined, chrome-plated siren designed to provide unparalleled reliability for long-life operation. When mounted on emergency vehicles, the Q2B delivers powerful warning sound, more than any other electromechanical siren.
A heavy-duty coaster clutch is standard on Q2B models. This unique coaster clutch design enables the siren to deliver longer coast-down sound once power is removed to reduce battery drain. The "worry free" clutch is subject to very little wear and requires no service attention or adjustments. Using the standard electric brake quickly silences the siren. The Q2B-P comes with pedestal and housing for bumper mounting.

Im so tired of fire trucks sounding like an ambulance or police car🙁
it 's not a fire truck unless it has stuttertone airhorns and a Q2B
Omg
On God
The clutches are very easy to disassemble for service. You can tell when they have a quick wind down the clutch needs services. My personally Q2b is from the early 1960’s. A quick clutch test to do is a “Peak To Stop Test” a proper Q should have a 3-4 minute peak to stop time. This is where you hold the siren down until it is fully peaked at the highest pitch, usually 10-15 seconds. Once you release the switch you start the timer. My Q will coast for about 3:45 seconds. If your Q isn’t coasting properly it is an easy fix. Lube the brass clutch assembly and threads but NOT the clutch material itself. I have rebuilt
several old Q’s and they all work properly after lubing the centrifugal clutch.
Finally a real siren
Love the sound but not the best for intersections. I was going through a green light and it was at its lowest wind down and I did not hear it at all and almost got t-boned by a fire truck
If they were busting a red why wasn't it wound up all the way? Sounds like user error.
Every tool out there can suffer from operator error. They are great for intersections but they need to be ON! Same with a light bar, a light bar can’t warn oncoming drivers if the bar isn’t ON! Air horns are also great for intersection but they need to be honked to be effective!!!
Invalid comment.
you didnt see the lights??? lol
First person to notice that Chris trimmed his face during the changeover from Stuart to Chris LOL
I would love to see a demo! :)
Federal Signal still uses their original lightning bolt "F" logo on this siren vs the modern "FS" logo.
This would be fun in an older Honda civic as a horn.
Zazur fire truck 🚒
We had a rescue squad 1968 Ford c gerstenslager till 1985 and there was a small bend in the teeth assembly most special Q2b in st Paul history of Q2b 1950-2022...tone was off by few notes,we always knew when that squad in the hood👍
I still dont understand how this thing controls it self, is it a computer or something? Its not like other sirens where its a pre recorded loop so how does it know when to wind up and wind down when the switch is on?
@@peterenglish2573 huh, would have thought it was more high tech than that. Then again what do I know I build coffins for a living.
Just a smaller and mobile air raid siren.
Until August, FDNY Battalion Chief 9 Getting Real Q2B Higher Pitch Sound Like Osaka Motor Siren 24 Volts!!!
The B and M SUPER CHIEF is by far the loudest and strongest sounding siren made.
Its 100% AMERICAN made Thank You. Often called the Ferrari of noise and the Rolls Royce of Quality.
Love sirenet I just ordered a wig wag from y'all.
Thanks James :)
A wig wag RR crossing signal?
Is this something your looking for?
Wig wag RR signals are no longer in production
No ground?
Bolting it down completes the grounding.
Weird way to ensure a continuous ground but I guess it works. Federal Signal wouldn't let us down.
Tbey finally did it!
Love the dying cow
