i think this show should have gone on so much longer than it did. It's no classic or masterpiece, but then neither is Newsies- and that lasted for I think two or three years, deservedly so. I adore the music and the characters in this show, I don't know what the critics were seeing wrong that the audiences weren't.
actually, the musical portrays them as they actually were; also, bonnie did not kill anyone- she just carried a gun to set clyde straight when he tried to mess with her (and also to take a sarcastic photo). the CRITICS were the real reason the show closed; audiences loved the realistic light that the show placed on them.

The fact that this was only on Broadway for a month before it closed devastated me because I wanted to see it so bad when I finally got there. I'm in love with the music, I'm such a fan of both Laura and Jeremy, and even though I never got to see it, I still think it closed way too early.
well he had a show for Newsies at Papermill that night after this press rehearsal. He was rehearsing this during the day and doing the Papermill run at night
FANTASTIC PRODUCTION!!! So grateful to have been privileged to view this production and witness these performers remarkable abilities! Still hopeful it will come around again and be shared with the world one day soon! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽ENCORE

I actually went to see it four times in that short period it was running 🤣. Thinking back, it’s crazy (and sad) to remember how short lived it was. So glad we got that excellent cast recording and the music wasn’t lost forever.
To this day it is one of my favorite musicals . I was so lucky to see it before it closed. Jeff Calhoun and the cast and creative team did a WONDERFUL job!!!
I'm going to see the show tomorrow!!! :D I'm so excited! It looks great! Frank Wildhorn better win that TONY!!! I'm pretty sure he deserves it as well as the entire company! :)
it doesn't matter how "realistic" or "accurate" it was tbh. it was good. ofc, most musicals are not real. just because wicked isn't actually about a real life green girl doesn't mean it should've closed in 28 days. saying it deserved to shut down because it focused on the love story is kinda shitty

The reason the Newsies got extended is that they had/have a awesome fan base that really pushed Disney hard to extend the run!
