What’s the most challenging aspect of tackling war for you? Is it capturing the emotional weight of war, developing the psychological impact, or balancing action with character depth? Let me know in the comments-I'd love to hear how you approach creating these complex characters!
For me, the challenge is capturing the emotional weight without slowing down the story. I try to ground action scenes in what the character personally stands to lose or gain. It adds intensity while keeping readers invested
For me, personally, capturing the tension that comes with war, a tension that may transcend generations and breed a cruelty that supersedes reason (and different ways to express that cruelty) was the most difficult part of capturing the essence of war for me.
