Based on the state of various ruins and even alleged recorded, it seems very reasonable that our realm is cyclical and massive "world ending" events have happened relatively frequently. How frequently, how many times, and for how long are questions that may only be answered by The Almighty. I always toy around with the idea that our hidden history is less of a conspiracy and more of the result of records lost to time. Certainly there's some chicanery with the modern chronology, but that doesn't have to imply that anyone knows a more accurate one. We could be where we are because of a combination of certain agendas and honest historians trying to do the best they can (with groupthink leading them often times astray).
