I stopped feeding the birds when my blue birds went elsewhere. Since then the Squirrels, chipmunks racoons ,possum ,slugs ,flies , ants and only God knows what must be really hungry by now . I couldn't care less ,and Im so relieved. 😊
it needs a giant Trey or some way to catch all the seeds. It’s not worth the rats. I have a house wren and just provide a little birdhouse. The couple is super nice and they sing a pleasing song. So far they’ve returned every year.
I can relate. I have a suction cupped feeder on my upper double hung window, and in the summer, with the screen down, the squirrels jump up to the screen, and claw up to the feeder. PITA
I've seen squirrels go passed all kinds of baffles, but not when I put a slinky on instead

The tray is great idea.
Squirrels climb right up the mullion on my windows and jump on feeder. Huge mess.
