  • This video provides a basic introduction into electric potential energy. It explains how to calculate it given the magnitude of the electric charge, electric field, as well as the height of the charged particle from some reference point. It also provides examples of calculating electric potential and the work done by an electric force to accomplish a certain task.

    If V=E*d (22:50) then U=-q*E*y becomes U=-q*V, which is the opposite of what you wrote (U=qV). I think this is a matter of sign conventions. If you are to specify that V=E*d, then I think U=-q*V.
    This seems to lead to the inconsistency with E. At 22:32 you find E=10,000V/m, but then at 28:27 you use E=-10,000V/m. If we use V=-E*d (which would give U=q*V, which is what you use), then V=100V=-E*(0.01), so that E=-10,000V/m.

      Look up spaced repetition. Also review the same new material first thing before sleep and first thing in the morning.
      I'd recommend taking notes, review before bed, again in the morning. Then it can be reviewed 1-2 days later, and again later in the week, at a minimum. This let's you study choose a different subject the next day for the sleep/wake trick.

    • @natncat
      @natncat 3 года назад +2

      i was wondering this too and when i looked up other sources, it appears that the sign is not really consistently reported, just as long as it's opposite the work done. so i saw some sources that said W = -qEy and U = qEy, some that said W =qEy (use the sign of q) and U=qEy. So i guess sign doesn't matter so long and the sign used for W and U are opposite

    Is there difference between electric potential and electric potential energy

    • @griffonvulture1506
      @griffonvulture1506 2 года назад +2

      Yes. Electric potential = e.p. energy / test charge.
      Test charge is a charge of a particle whose dimensions and mass are negligible. You can think of it as a point or a dot in the field.
      Now potential is saying how much potential energy is needed to move that dot out of place.
      "In short, an electric potential is the electric potential energy per unit charge." en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_potential

    please can you help a noob, can somebody tell me if i can wire a 3 pole
    relay as a single pole, i think thats what i want/need?, i needed a
    relay to turn on and off from - 24vac,on the coil side-, 240v 35a on the
    main load , and with out spending silly money i could only find a 3
    pole one cheap, thats 35 amps , all i need it to do is when activated by
    the 24v ac , allow the current of my 240v ac to pass to make the
    circuit, and that can be just the live or the live and neutral, etc etc
    if
    it can be done?, would wiring it so my live splits and goes in to all 3
    poles and then out all 3 poles(when activated), to give more current,
    as its for my mig welder ,(24v trigger), so more amps the better, thank
    you

      Hey there, wonderful question I’d like to offer my solutions..
      As you know a^2 + b^2 = c^2
      So if two legs of a triangle are 7 and 9, and your missing the hypotenuse here’s how to answer.
      7^2 = 49 , 9^2 = 81.
      So that’s: 49+ 81 = the Square root of C.
      130 = square root of c
      That’s equals : 10 times the square root of 13.

    The homeowner desires that a ceiling fan with light kits be installed in 5 different rooms.
    Each fan contains a light kit that can accomodate four 60-watt lamps. Each fan motor draws a current of 1.8 amperes when operated on high speed.
    It is assumed that each fan can operate more than three hours at a time and therefore must be considered a continuos-duty device. The fans are to be connected to a 15-ampere circuit.
    Because the devices are continuos duty, the circuit current must be limited to 80% of the continuos connected load.
    How many fans can be connected to a single 15-ampere circuit?
    I have an answet i just dont know if i did it correcltly 😅 TIA
