    Matt,
    I have a question on my 2019 KTM SX-F 450. I bought a Hi-Flow water pump for it and while i was going to change the prop, I went a head and changed the seal as well. I also have a "2019 Service Manual". Here is my issue. When i took the clutch cover off (1st time)with the water pump gear, I didn't realize there is balance gear on the water pump shaft. This gear has 2 dots. One of them is on one side and the other is on the other 180 degrees on the back side. The manual which i check several times, does "NOT" mention ANYTHING about these 2 dots,or the dot on the crankshaft gear where it turns the water pump gear. I'm assuming one of these 2 dots from the water-pump balancing gear has to lineup with the dot on the crank gear. Its so strange that service manual does NOT mention ANYTHING about ANY dots on any of these gears.
    (((((((FYI, my main concern is that the water pump gear has a " piece of metal wight" on it, I'm assuming its for engine vibration to keep the engine vibration down, not 100% sure. Not really sure why water pump gear is shaped like that with weight balance on it,))))))
    Anyway, would you happen to know the proper installation of this water pump gear and the lining up the dots?
    I appreciate any help or advice. Thank you

    How should I use my clutch when i come into a rut?...do i rely on momentum and pull in the clutch or just balls to the walls and pin it?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 года назад +5

      If you're on a motocross track, you always want to carry as much speed as possible into the rut and let your momentum get you through long enough until you're ready to accelerate out. If you need to give a little has while in the turn, then use the clutch to modulate the power without unsettling the bike. Unless I absolutely have to, I try no to pull my clutch in while in a rut. But every turn is different so this sin't gospel. Just remember, Dungey wasn't the gnarliest dude on a bike in terms of raw speed, but he was amazing at carrying excellent speed/momentum through corners. - Chase

    Thanks

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 лет назад +1

      Couple things could be causing that. Sometimes when a bike isn't warmed up it can jump a little, you might need to adjust your clutch lever farther out or you may have too much slack in your cable. Try those out and see it that helps.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 лет назад +1

      There are a couple things that could be causing creep in your clutch. Some things to try are the following: 1. make sure you have your lever adjusted far enough out. 2. have the right amount of free play in your cable 3. If you have aftermarket levers, try using the stock lever again and see if it gets better, sometimes after market levers change where you clutch engages. This literally just happened the other day. Try those out and let me know if they help.-Chase

    New friction and drive plates, bikes on stand in gear with clutch lever in, but rear wheel spins. Normal?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 лет назад

      Yep. With the clutch lever pulled in, your clutch is disengaged, allowing your wheel to spin.

    • @jtp824
      @jtp824 6 лет назад

      It's more like it's not fully disengaged for some reason. Like it's spinning under the engine power, but not as fast as when the clutch lever is all the way out in gear. Is it because the new plates build up more friction?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 лет назад +1

    • @rmatvmc

      You would need to look at your service manual, but make sure you've got the clutch plates and steels installed in the correct order. Does your bike have a judder spring? If yes, did you remove and not put it back? I'd go back through it and double check everything is in correctly. - Chase

    • @rmatvmc
