What I've noticed about metal heads reacting to orchestras and sometimes classical is that they appreciate the musicality. What I try to explain to people is that metal has a lot of technique and layers to it, it's not just hitting instruments. That's why I think metal heads and the metal musicians can appreciate classical and other kinds of music all the same.
You’re 1000% spot on! Especially in my case, I absolutely love orchestral and classical music in general. Especially old 1920s/30s silent horror movie soundtracks.
