Excellent video. I've learnt more about ducks in the 7 mins of your vid than I ever have. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge : )
A naughty wild duck lays eggs in the front garden and disappears. The resident took the eggs put them in the incubator and took care as A pet. I met one of the ducks in the village of Cotswolds while I doing a Walking Tour Video. Now this duck has more followers than me on Tiktok 😛
Absolutely love this ! I was looking at having chickens for my allotment but I am quite interested in having ducks now. This video was very useful and will make sure to fully research before getting ducks ❤ 🦆
That was a really informative video. Im interested in ducks, mainly for slug control, but I've been put off by everyone telling me they need to be put away and let out. I have chickens, and have a system in place that gives me the freedom to go on holiday. Do you know of any breeds that are more likely to be trained to go in/out by themselves?
Thank you for the brilliant video! Very helpful and informative! May I ask, you say the ducks are too heavy to fly? Is this because of the breed of your ducks I don’t seem to see a part where you say :)
Hi I'm in Pembrokeshire too. Where is a good place to get ducks and is there an ideal number per square metre of garden? How small a garden is too small?
wow...I've watched your video... beautiful video, you are genius and creative.... I have a feeling this video will go viral... I hope you are always happy my friend... full support for you from us...🤗🤭👍 Greetings from rain color universe
I love women with those kinds of teeth. I'm weird right? I have no idea what you call those angles of teeth, but I have always found myself crushing on chicks with teeth like that. I can not explain why I find them so attractive. yes, I'm being serious. I'm talking about where the Human K9 teeth protrude slightly further out than the two front teeth or the two front teeth are angle inward slightly more than the K9 teeth. She probably hates her teeth, but I love 'em.
If you want eggs be careful what breed you buy. Normal ducks will give 150 per year in spring and summer . Choose egg laying breeds like Indian runner, khaki Campbell , harlequin .....these breeds will give 280 to 350 each for 4 years . Much more than a chicken which has a productiive life of just 18 months to 2 years . These breeds are well worth searching for from a reputable breeder. They are really fun pets to keep but are an easy target for foxes and dogs .
Yes for sure, these are the best breed if you want the maximum number of eggs, but we don’t eat that many so they work for us! And they’re pretty friendly too which I love ☺️
huge problem with ducks are predators . Dogs and foxes will not stop until they have taken some birds . Foxes will wait even during the day for an opportunity to take a bird quickly and silently . Even pet dogs in the area will attack given the first chance !! Beware ....
I mean the fact that you refer to them as pets in the description on the front of the video causes me to immediately question your actual duck experience.

how does the mini stream in your garden work? do you use a pump? if not where does the water come from/end up?
Very informative and well edited video! Many thanks. I'm about to get 5 Khaki Campbells for my homestead in Malaysia.

+1 for mentioning danger of chicken feed medication chemicals
Yeah it’s so important!!
omg youre the one who has inspired me to get ducks! My first question is will they be ok in just a garden? Do I need a field?

Duck are definitely delicious as well.
Do you have a breed preference? Do you use the birds for meat at all or just the eggs?

You're stunning x
I want one or more but sadly i live in a council house😅😅🤦🏻♀️ maybe one day 💜
Oww not ideal, I hope you get a nice garden one day so you can have ducks 🦆
@@inthecottagegardenuk I hope so 🩷🩷 because that would be nice 🇬🇧🏴🩷
Compost the duck manure, putting it directly on vegetable gardens will put you at risk for getting salmonella
Duck name suggestions:
Bill
Drake
Mallary
Scoot
Weber
Benedict
Egbert
Plucky
iam from India, once upon day think 10th class, the cottage lady English book chapter so crazy
because there were rare so expensive🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 very valuable
Would the ducks be noisy? 🦆
could you intermingle ducks and chickens?

Yeah one of my worries. Fenced in backyard and a Pyr has me less worried, however my hound is the worry
Ducks have a lot of salmonella!

The "actual duck experience" in question seems to be in the background of pretty much the entire video... might want to get your eyesight checked.
Lol was thinking the same thing. Very happy critters, lovely area! Awesome video!
