I think they have "disappeared" is because lots of adults (35+) don't really cook dinner they way their grandmothers (or even their mothers) did. This is a good list to use for folks who want to, though.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you. I'm 39 and I rarely eat a meal I don't cook myself. I like knowing what's in what I'm eating. It's funny too because a bunch of the stuff I cook really is what my grandparents ate. Every time I watch one of these videos I'm like, "how is this forgotten? I frequently make these things." 😅

It really is rare anyone in this generation Cook's. They buy pre prepared dinners and call it cooking.
      The worst thing for you.
Of course a few people out there know how to cook.

@@katherineeckrich2039 agreed, but I think it's coming around again. I never understood why people would either buy or build huge gorgeous kitchens and then use them to heat up box dinners. Because they didn't want to mess up the kitchen. I actually kind of blame things like food tv. They make it look so complicated. Is intimidating. There's a channel here on RUclips that's fun to follow called Auntie chef. It's just a guy who started out heating up Box Dinners you got a copy of the Julia Child book and started teaching himself how to cook. Mistakes and all. That does help because most would make many of the same mistakes. That's part of learning. You do it right every time, then I questioned if you're actually cooking!

Noticed that some of these recipes are labor intensive. In todays world with busy, tight schedules, a meal that takes more than 3 steps is too time consuming for weeknight families. Maybe for a weekend gourmet project or a special "impress the company" effort, some of these arent forgotten, they're just too much work.

My mum use to make Chicken Kiev, but it was different from what you showed. She started with chicken drumsticks, deboning eachchopping off the bone to create a handle at one end, then stuffing with garlic butter and the sewing up the flap. So a cheaper option all be it more labour intensive.

The gelatin used in the chicken mold was Knox unflavored gelatin. I had chicken divan not to long ago. It's not a Southern Classic, it came from Harlem in New York. Musicians, getting finished with their gigs when the clubs closed, and they weren't sure whether they wanted supper, or breakfast, so they put them together
