Beyonce's label really hates YT apparently.....to see my actual full reaction with the songs go to www.patreon.com/swiftologist
God, why (the short film) Lemonade isn't in RUclips for us to behold in marvel while we routinely ponder the meaning of life is beyond me, I mean, she's really sacrificing a solid earning there just to punish YT for some reason 🥲
I don't understand a person who can CRITIQUE a musical artist with jibber jabber and hasn't made an album themselves. Stick to listening...NOT CRITIQUING!!!
I'm way better at it than you would ever be, flop..........stick to leaving comments, dont make videos!! @@allenrice-cw8dc

The beetles wrote blackbird specifically about black women in the midst of the civil rights movement soooooo it's a perfect choice for this album
I didn’t know that!
❤❤❤❤❤
Additional info:
They wrote it specifically after hearing about the Little Rock Nine - the first black students sent to a previously all-white school in order to desegregate it. The nine kids included male and female students alike - the song was in support of them and other black people fighting for the civil rights movement
I listened to Cowboy Carter yesterday (which I like it more than Renaissance) and when I heard her own version of Blackbird, I was like "NO WAY!" because The Beatles are my favorite artist of all time!
The BeAtles.
celine malone💀
Post Dion ☠️
Post I-got-my-eye-on / Hot Malone 🤩
now will he show up for april 19th?
beyonslay just caused a level 1000000000 motherquake and slayed the roof off the house with just her cowboy carter boots
@acorn9134or your average redneck country music listener
@acorn9134 she shredded motherella onto a slayizza and served it in a warm cuntainer
Missed opportunity to call them Cowboy Cunter boots.
shakespear is shaking trying to read this
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beyonce is an album-first artist. Not every song is palatable on its own, the whole thing forces you to actually delve into it and bear with her
I agree its quite a chore listening ... lol
@@bg6326 Then don't.
I feel like 16 carriages is not about struggling financially but struggling to be so young in the music industry. Specifically being so young on destiny’s child and the fear that comes with it
It’s an mag and take on an original black chain gang song - which is “16 carriages long” per timing which was done. much of country music is modeled after this.
“Jolene found dead in Miami” SENT ME
Beyonce and Miley’s voices blended so beautifully.
Yelp like butter, smooth butter, beautifully done
the album was longz kinda exhausting and EXCELLENT. i dont even understand how Beyonce keeps doing this.
People are quite simple aren't they
Beyoncé just continuously out does herself. Cowboy Carter has been on repeat, she’s done it again. As always 🖤
OHHH BEYOLOGIST YOU NEVER FAIL US
NO ONE is doing seamless transitions like she is. I guess it’s kind of a challenge but I’ve never seen an artist have so many transitions not only between songs, but the last track transitions into the first, AND separate PROJECTS flow into each other?! Insane.
16 Carriages is not about being poor, it's more about the journey from childhood and the struggles of growing up in the industry and spotlight. Beyonce has always used her music to express her feelings and who she is, and you're right she doesn't do many interviews but in her more adult life she uses her art, the documentaries and movies to let her fans in. You have to identify more with her to understand, so I do understand your commentary as someone who doesn't connect completely.
Supposedly Blackbird was written about the civil rights movement. If so, it adds so much more meaning to the song selection and theme of the album.
Yes! Paul McCartney wrote it as an ode to Black women in the 60s civil rights movement!
yes Paul Mccartney talked about it in a video he did for GQ here on youtube a few years ago
Paul McCartney has been consistent over the years in saying that Blackbird was inspired by racial struggle in the southern United States, and specifically that the figure should be interpreted as a black woman waiting for her moment to arise. So for Bey to choose young Black women artists to feature in this iconic Beatles song (and we know the Fab Four are famous culture vultures, ehem, *heavily inspired* by Black music) is such a CHOICE
Yes! Culture vultures is right and more people should say that!
"One thing that I think sometimes alienates me from Beyonce is that her work is so detailed and referential" - said the Swiftologist. The fan of TAYLOR SWIFT
(Love your videos
lol I thought the same thing!
Beyonce is sooooo layered. ❤
Lol I think he means is she is referencial to music history, whereas Taylor is referencial to her own personal history

"Protector" is giving me "Mother is mothering."
But so far, my favorite track is "Daughter."
And her version of Jolene SLAYS.
Also "Spaghetti" is giving me Houston Urban Cowboy. It really reminds me of Houston's hip hop scene.
Daughter left me SPEECHLESS. Her vocals, that haunting melody, omg it’s so good.
post malone is one of my favorite singers - great voice, distinct diction, insane hooks. levi's jeans is so good & i can't wait for fortnight!
Right?! So excited
And a genre bender!
if anything, beyonce is one HELL of a visionary.
this isn't her most digestible music, and i fs need more time w it.
the gp expecting perfectly edited, sleek, tight albums r going to cry "filler" left and right but the sprawling mess of it all feels extremely intentional to me. the album's saying such varied, important things!!
even if i dont necessarily love the style i can appreciate the art. god bless bey and god bless u for taking no days off.✌
So eloquently said. Thank you for speaking truth!!! ❤
Ngl I’m a huge Lana fan but I can’t see her topping this act. Beyoncé definitely is gonna win country this year. This was insanely good even for a genre I don’t even like
I like catchy singles and all but I’ve always been an album-lover, always looking for the best conceptual body of work. Some people won’t get this album and that’s okay but for those who did, this was a movie for the ears and the mind. Stunning project from start to finish. ❤
OMG YaYa is everything to me! I get the musical references, it makes me want to dance and sing, it has a meaningful social and political message, it’s sex positive and crosses genre boundaries. It is literally a masterpiece and I felt that way about upon immediate listen and the more I hear it the more I understand why.
THIS.
So many layers to every song and ppl NEED to pay attention and listen up!
Beyoncé's family did start middle to upper-class but they did struggle financially at some point when her dad quit his job to fully dedicate himself to managing destiny child. I hope this help recontextualize the lyrics
Boots on the ground. We clap for you and queen bey 👑👑
Also patiently waiting the patreon upload!! Can't wait to see your full reaction 🫶🏼
What makes the outrage so ridiculous is that African Americans are in the DNA of country music. It was founded and molded by the black community. Even the the banjo is an instrument inspired by west african stringed instruments.
Yaya has changed my life
I get ur approach to this album. Its because you are a swiftie, and they are more on the songwriting aspect of song while beyonce is more on the voice and structures she's working on. Personally, I really love this album, it is on par with renaissance for me.
I was HOPING you would but never thought you actually WOULD.
Always feeding the peasants! ❤❤❤❤❤
I will say the more you listen to it, the more you "get" it and the ENTIRE story of the album thats woven throughout.
Seriously! I would love if he went back to do a review of renaissance too!
2024 is the year of yeehaw 🤠
Love how you mentioned going on a ride, because that's exactly how I felt the whole album - like I was on a ride at an amusement park being guided by all the interludes. It was honestly a really fun first listen!
I just learned the Black Bird was inspired by The Little Rock 9. The fact Beyoncé and other new black female country singers are singing it…how poetic. And Jesus her mind. 😮
american requiem is definitely a very weird psychedelic song and not everyone is gonna “get it”, but I also think u just need to listen to other types of music other than pop
The album is too good 😭 and it gets better every listen?!??
This is an amazing album. I'm happy that you doing this video
Amazing work Zack! You always upload at the perfect time and your videos never disappoint! My top 3 are II MOST WANTED, LEVIIS JEANS, AND BODYGUARD
yess ive been waiting for this thank godddd !!
The shorter songs run into the other songs so if you pause between them you are taking them as fillers but they are parts of larger songs
II Most Wanted with Miley gives Thelma and Louise vibes. I love it! Bodyguard also just feels like a chill drive on a summer day. And I got literal chills on Daughter and Blackbird. This album is going to be my summer soundtrack.
I think the most surprising thing for me watching this was realizing that Zach has never heard Circles or Sunflower when he was so shocked that Posty sings 😂
Celine Malone/Post Dion indeed.
You did this video! 💞 Love it! Thank you very much!
SO GLAD you reacted to this!!!
Thank you for being so quick!! Would love to see you fix the track list 😁
Loving this album, I’ve just been listening to it start to finish, absorbing…
Yeah loved this reaction. ♥️
Congratulations on your new era, Zach the Beyologist 🤠
Country radio is not gonna embrace this album not only because they're racist but also because it's not mediocre enough. They don't even play Zach Bryan despite the fact that he's like their platonic ideal of a country music star because he's too good, and too REAL.
ikr she doesn't sing about being drunk and heartbroken and whiny :( stay mad lol
Yup! They would have to raise the bar and other artists would have to rise to the occasion. They don’t want that.
"but also because it's not mediocre enough" !!!! exactly that
I hear Texas Hold Em and Jolene on the San Francisco country station from time to time, but they don't even play Mickey Guyton, or Brittney Spencers who's had a breakthrough these past few months. It's obscenely obvious. And yet, they have no issues embracing Elle King who started off in alternative rock, and Gwen Stefani when she collabs with Blake.

ICONIC BEHAVIOR FROM BEYONCÉ AND THEE SWIFTOLOGIST
A few years ago Paul Mccartney talked about how the civil rights movement and the protests of the 1960s were the inspiration behind blackbird and that the song is basically his words of encouragement for black women (he also said that blackbird actually means black girl so “blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learns to fly” = “black girl singing in the dead of night…”)
Bird is 1960's British slang for a girl so that fits.
I'm not a Beyonce scholar, in fact I haven't listened to renaisence but I loved this album! it was so enjoyable to me and I didn't feel the lenght of it. So impressed and I'm happy that "country" is a theme for some artists this year because people have been trying to gatekeep everything that it could be for so long (i like country/folk stuff just not too rednecky) and i'm so glad that beyonce said: I'm Beyonce if I want to do country I'll do country and if you're one of those people who say they like "all music except country" guess what? now you do"
welp that’s relatable content 💀💀 (love your content!)
Great review
Thank you 😊
@23:08 “Celine Malone - Post Dion!” 😂 ily great review, per usual🫶
Oh????? I did NOT expect this!!! GAG
Ooooh I would absolutely LOVE a deep dive into the rigidity of traditional country music and how it inevitably excludes or slowly pushes out anyone who isn't straight, white, and either apolitical or outright conservative. I would be SEATED for an exploration into that topic! I really enjoyed Cowboy Carter and I'm a big fan of both Kacey and Maren. Great vid as always Zack!
I still believe Taylor was only accepted into country due to her being a sweet pretty little young blonde thing. She didn’t have a powerhouse voice and compared to other country artists, of average songwriting skills. Usually country stars are the whole package. But she had radio appeal to a young demographic which is a product that is pretty easy to sell
@@hermitwatcher8997 Our Song was that bish tbh. Easily one of the catchiest country classics of the 2000's like Stuck Like Glue and Before He Cheats, and it elevated her into a household name.
Thank you, I've been so disorientated, this is a good introduction.
My day is made whenever you upload a new video!! ❤❤❤
I have so much work today so I cant listen to it all yet, but even from the small bit I've heard it is obvious this album is incredible.
Did anyone else catch the plethora of 90s references? Titanic, Candle in the Wind, RIIVERDANCE (obvi has a very long history but was HUGE in the 90s), Nick-at-Nite!
Riverdance is the pure honey of Cowboy Carter
I won’t lie this is the first Beyoncé album I’ve listened in full for a long long time and I’m loving it. Here for the cuntry sound.
Post Malone does actually sing. You mentioned him being a rapper on EOAS, but as of late I think he’s more of a pop artist.
I loved 16 carriages and I adored her and Miley’s collaboration. Those harmonies were tight
I loved it and cant wait to see what Act III is. Renaissance was great too but every time i put it on im kinda bummed out I'm not in the club, so I can see myself potentially listening to Cowboy Carter more in my everyday life.
I've heard act iii is rock...
Omg never been this early. Thank gosh I opened RUclips
No days off-ologist!
just for fun is my favorite track so far-- it's stunning!
Beyonce did a great job, and this is a beautiful art piece.
Miley and Beyonce collab is what we needed❤ and yes Post malone is from TX, and it looks like he's doing folk/ country music recently
Those colors look amazing on u!
Yes! I thought the same!
thank you! x
They truly do!
“CELINE MALONE! POST DION!!!” 😂 I loooove LEVII’S JEANS and it has me even more amped for Posty’s feature on TTPD!
For me, i definitely think some songs are growers, but there is also songs on the album that i immediately took liking too but i feel like if i play them album again for the second time today and just let it played i will grow to love it more because only played it once since i listen to it when it was released at midnight
Not a person alive can say a thing about this album if Willie Nelson's on it. 🎉👏🏻
yesss the Beyoncé intro!!!! I’d love to see more Beyoncé content :)
Swiftologist to Beyologist - yes yes yes
Looking forward to “why Cowboy Carter deserves AOTY”
I think Beyonce, being an insider, is still an outsider. I don't have anything to back that up, it's just something I sense about her. Like she may be "worshiped" but she isn't part of the circle who worship her.
But she has hit a level to where she can say some things, and no one is going to try and stop her.
People just don't quite know what to make of her even after all this time, and all those albums.
I wonder if her background includes singing in church, because I feel church vibes and hear church arrangements, which aren't dissimilar from the roots of country. Not country pop, but the roots of storytelling country/folk, such as Woody Guthrie, infused with esrly blues ie Robert Johnson.
This isn't a R&B/soul/pop x country crossover, it's more like a collage of the roots of all the music that has made those other styles possible.
Like she went time traveling, and brought influences back, then gave those her own spin and update.
The music isn't my preferred sound, but I can't deny it is a deep and meaningful and well produced project.
To say this is "just Beyonce doing country" is a disservice and misses the point, in my opinion.
👏👏👏🌠
II Most Wanted ❤ one of my fav songs on the Album. Brilliant collab between Beyonce and Miley. Their vocals just meld, blend and harmonise so beautifully and perfectly imo!
Both these queens are genre chameleons.
Miley's vocals is so country, she truly slaps in this genre!!!
Idk I love this one more after three listens than I did renaissance when it first came out. I just immediately get it and vibe with the experimentation, moreso than with some of the weirder renny songs like I'm That Girl
I LOVE THIS ALBUM (BETTER THAN RENAISSANCE??). alsooo what do you think about the "taylor background vocals" in bodyguard? twitter swifties are CONVINCED it's her and i kinda hear it. thoughts?
I kinda hear her in Riverdance ad libs at the end
Okay I just looked it up and People Magazine confirms it's not her
It’s been debunked it’s not Taylor
Nonsense
it's as expected then...
I've not been this gripped by a Beyonce project in a first listen for a while. I absolutely loved it. Will pick my favourites after a few more listens. The first song was very Led Zeppelin to me (hints of the rock album coming up?). Yeah I'm just gonna go enjoy it now
There's a rumor that she will do rock next, to make the 3 popular genres that originally popularized by Black community (cmiiw)
@@Lunearien I'm all for it, I think she'd suit rock so well and I would never be the same after hearing it. This is from an extremely casual Beyonce listener who continues to be blown away by Cowboy Carter
@@KarolinaK00 Totally relate. I haven't really listen to her music especially the new ones, but this album had me on a choke hold. It is sooo good! I wish she do more promotion so people won't sleep on this gem (I heard some beyhive saying she stopped promoting album or doing press stuff, and only focuses on tours or so 😶)
Country music gatekeeps so hard they have their own separate award show which is crazy. Beyonce is breaking barriers with this that paves the way for more black artists as well as slighted/excluded country artists such as Kacey Musgraves that have been kind of kicked out because Kacey openly talks about astrology/smoking weed which "isn't allowed" in country music.
Talking about weed has been a thing in outlaw country for a long time Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr, Toby Keith so not that. They didn't like Kacey because she went to a more pop sound and also because country music is tougher on women.
"Where's the man? He should also be dead." said with a completely straight face. That took me out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also right after you said the title "Spaghetti," an ad for fried chicken came on 😂💀
i know this is unrelated, but did you know kate hudson released a country music video? It's really good- I like it and my fave song from this album so far is texas hold 'em and i love her cover of blackbird
So you mention that you don’t see the point of Oh Louisiana and I can understand how you might not see it, but there is a subset of country music regional to Louisiana called Zydeco, she mentions going to the Zydeco in another song, which other wise known as a Fe Do Do is a dance where Zydeco music is played. And while she calls on her Louisiana Creole Heritage a lot in the album I feel Oh Louisiana is a homage to the crooning sound of Zydeco music and her love of the place as her cultural routes. All that to say I think it has a very important part on this record and is one of my favorite interludes and wish I could get an extended version. Dessert Eagle is my least favorite song on album.
Suchhhhhh a good album! I love Desert Eagle & Tyrant
in our yeehaw era!!!!!!!!!
Seated for the Country Queen
i read in the comments of another review that alligator tears could be her talking about her kids and i like that interpretation way more than changing for a man lol
yehey Levi's Jeans!
WOW THAT WAS QUICK
when zack and madeline, or anyone says boots, they’re actually referring to Beyoncé cuntree boots, because those are beyond the virgin mary boots
i might be reaching... but this is definitely AOTY SO FAR.
oh no not a reach. and with jay z calling out the fact that she's never won AOTY, the grammys will be sure to quickly rectify that.
@@maryem9225 watch them fuck it up again, I have zero faith in those racists old white men lol
(cowboy) boots the house down….i am so happy i’m alive to see the rise of the beyologist 🙈
I’ve not really been a big fan of Beyonce before this album, but after releasing this album my boyfriend has started listening to her and inadvertently so have I. He is a big fan of country music, so today after work I’m getting him the album on vinyl as a present. I think this album has the potential to get country fans to be more open to other music, and people who have not been fans of country to like country.
It’s so nice to see Swiftie creators making Beyonce content too
LEGEND
Plaid is your color!

This is a motherquake masterpiece.
Listen to Cornbread and Butter Beans by Carolina Chocolate drops or their Hit Em Up Style cover! Their singer did banjo on Texas Hold ‘Em. Sooo good if you like bluegrass.
Would you be interested in reacting to Kacey Musgraves new album deeper well? (If you havent listened already)
Really beautiful piece of work.
