Carrie IRL seems to have an unbecoming demeanor. I don't know if she's actually cold, or if she's just socially awkward, but she is not very good at interviews and often comes off as aloof (in a bad way). Corin and Janet have far warmer personalities.

This is probably the worst interview I have ever seen. They were not into it all, Nardwuar is doing his thing, but the sense of humor was just not there. They either don't like him or they were cranky. I also think 11:49 she just assumed he meant Portlandia was the only reason why they were popular and got defensive quick.
Carrie is too busy considering that poser St. Vincent as a producer for their next record, thereby ruining the band. That's why she isn't "excited" in this interview.
Do you expect everyone to just be off the walls, screaming, and bouncing around all day long for your entertainment? Also, touring is a very tiring process.

She does have an incredibly dry sense of humor, and is impossibly cool...almost like she's silently judging you for being less intelligent than she is but in fairness, we all probably are. Sometimes she can just quietly stare and be polite and it's still remarkably funny.
