I was already off loading stuff online when I saw this video earlier the summer. So I set this $1000 goal (which was pretty much the cost of putting 3 kids through summer activities). It took me 3 months And a fun chart on the wall ... but I did it yesterday!! $1000 waahooo! Thanks for the challange!
Excellent ideas! I can't wait to start brainstorming! My brother-in-law just started a junk hauling side hustle. He has a truck and a trailer, he gets a workout, and lots of people need the service since they've been stuck at home seeing their clutter during COVID! I thought it was a great idea.
Wow, that is brilliant! Definite need. Little to no start-up costs for him. Using the resources he already has to bring in extra money. And not only that but he found a way to get PAID to get fit!! What better motivation to keep working out 😂 -Hannah :)
Thanks so much for being so matter-of-fact and sensible, and for the info on selling the clutter! You've given me the nudge to stop hesitating over starting my Etsy shop.
Peggy, that's amazing!! We never know until we just dive in and give it a try. If you keep it small and simple, launch with confidence and see where it takes you!! I'm excited for you to launch the shop! Feel free to follow up back here with a link on launch day so I can check it out!! -Hannah :)
Oh, heck yeah!! LOVE that! I've never tried Mercari myself, but I've made LOADS on Poshmark and Facebook Marketplace. So much so that I had to file those sales for taxes 😂 🌻 Hannah
Awesome video, I love the tips that you give about side hustling. I will be sure to use some of them in my next update. I'm on the road to financial freedom!!
WOOOHOOOO!! That is such exciting news!! Let us know if you end up pursuing a new side hustle, we'd love to here about what direction you went with it!! -Hannah :)
Hannah, what is the best way to track any income via side hustles in YNAB? There is no category breakdowns for income like expenses, it is all "to be budgeted"!! Thanks and good video!!
It should still go to to be budgeted so you can give your side hustle dollars jobs but you can make the payee "side hustle" so you can run a report later to see home much you made
I echo what Samantha said! You have a couple options for how you can handle the money: (1) Throw it ALL in To Be Budgeted and use it all to fund all your expenses. That payee tip of Samantha's was brilliant and a great way to organize your earnings. (2) Create a "Side Hustle" category in your budget, and whenever you deposit a new paycheck/income, budget it directly to this category. Then when you want to spend this particular money, you can move it to whatever category you want to spend from before you make the purchase and know that you were using your "side hustle" money for it. (3) If your side hustle is lucrative enough, consider creating a separate bank account for it. Then you could create your very own budget for it! Best of luck! Hope you find what best works for you! -Hannah :)
Great video! The key to taking control of expenses is to budget. Many people have started to realize that 9-5 income is not a safe bet. Circumstances can change instantly. Like this recent crisis, one day all was “peachy”. The next thing you know cities are closed and states are on lockdown and many countries are shutdown., and you can’t find toilet paper anywhere. It's important to make a list of the things that earn respect from your head and your heart. I can't wait it see more content!!!
I'd say a lot of us are just learning that for the first time! Up until a few weeks ago I though 9-5s were the safest bet there was! We simply never know. So excited to see the creative sparks fly as we find ways to make new/more income! -Hannah :)
I really looooooooved this video! Thank you! As a short term step I'm selling the violin and trombone I've been meaning to sell for the last 10 years. Loved the brainstorm! Re-inspired!
Wow! Brilliant! Sometimes we get so used to the things around us that we stop seeing them, like the trombone and violin living in the basement corner. I'm the same way about the camera equipment I've outgrown or since upgraded. Time to sell! -Hannah :)

Oh no, not the nail stickers! Whatever you do, do not buy into MLMs (multi-level marketing, network marketing, social selling, whatever)! Less than 1% of people will ever make money at them but there are thousands of people willing to talk about how MLMs ruined their lives and finances
I refuse to watch any videos that don't include Hannah. She makes the videos so fun and interesting to learn content that I would consider a snooze fest LOL
Go for it! My family and I used to busk in our downtown area to raise money for certain causes-it brought in a surprising amount of money for us just having fun on a street corner! I wonder if searching a website like Indeed could help you brainstorm or give you some ideas for ways people utilize musicians? It's amazing to get to take advantage of a skill that's not only a talent but also a blast for you! When the work is fun, it sure makes it a lot more enjoyable :) -Hannah :)
You convinced me to sell stuff and I made $435 in August. That's way better than any yard sale I've ever had.
how did you sell your stuff?
This is probably the most down to earth and helpful side hustle content I've seen! The first part is especially helpful. Thank you.

This is THE BEST side hustle video I have watched! Thank you for being honest, funny and down to earth, love your videos :)
😂 this is how I try to justify all the hobbies. Great video, thanks! I love YNAB!
Ha!! If you can make money doing a HOBBY then I think you've found yourself a golden situation :)

I bought that spreadsheet in 2005 or 2006 and I still have it lol.
Dang brotha!! That's amazing! Quite a different aesthetic from YNAB today, huh?? 😂

Great job Hannah and great content, thanks. Creativity is key in flowing thru uncertainty!
Amen sista!

Thanks to Hannah's suggestion I made my first sale on Mercari. Woohoo! Decluttering and earning some side cash.
Oh, heck yeah!! LOVE that! I've never tried Mercari myself, but I've made LOADS on Poshmark and Facebook Marketplace. So much so that I had to file those sales for taxes 😂

Love the helpful video. So much info, I had to watch it twice. Love your shirt too.
Thank you Minnie! It was a gift from my sweet sister-in-law, and it's from Target!

You Need A Budget (YNAB) totally agree
Very good point!! I've been focused on honing in my budget over the past few months, and it's life changing!
It's a right of passage in Utah to get sucked into some weird pyramid scheme sales thing.
Lots of good tips and very entertaining! Thank you!

I know, right?? 😑 I was young and I wanted the discount. MLM or not, sales will never be for me! Trust me, I'll steer clear!!

I got stuck on step #1: skills :(
