Grandpa was so wise! The lady playing the professor's wife was Will Geer's real life daughter. She played this role and another one later on Roni Carter (If I have that name right) the young woman who Mary Ellen met when she did some nursing on the mountain. She was the sister of the young man called Sweet Billy. At first she tried to get Mary Ellen to leave but they were pretty equal in stubbornness and Mary Ellen wasn't going anywhere. Later on she encouraged Mary Ellen when she wanted to become a doctor in order to better help those people after Sweet Billy died.
