Stunning colour combo you have gathered. Love your aesthetic Kaci. Beautiful pattern choices too. I can't wait to see all your garments. I fully support you keeping your children's lives totally private. 🥰
It was so fun watching you work through your color and pattern choices, and I think you've nailed it! Like so many of us, knitting is a big part of who you are, and showcasing your beautiful and lovingly hand-made garments will make for a much cherished family photo. I can't wait to see the finished sweaters : )
I find that members of my family are only willing to wear certain knits. As much as they compliment me on sweaters I knits I find that they all prefer specific accessories. To get a great photo of you all in your knits will be such a lovely memory.
Your Stria cardigan has all the colors you mentioned (different hues of some colors of course) Love that color scheme and excited to hear your updates on the sweaters!
I think it would be adorable if you knit hats for everyone out of the same sweater yarns but, of course, switching up on who wears what color so that nobody’s sweater and hat are matching. It’s a good way to distribute color throughout the composition while still keeping it unified.😊
Such a warm and fuzzy idea, both literally and figuratively. I am currently on a hat mission for my family. Archer by Sari Nordlund for my Mum, North Sea by Petite Knit for my brother and Dad, and the Classic Ribbed hat for my nieces, and in-laws. Haven't decided on a pattern for my Husband yet, but he already has a few
This video was so fun! Your knit wardrobe for your kids is so beautiful! You definitely made me want to knit Cargill sweaters for my kids. I also almost screamed when you said, “Toque! We don’t toke.”
I really, really, really enjoyed this episode! It was really interesting to see how you pulled the colors together and your thought process on this. I think your color palette and your choices of sweaters was really great. I can't wait to see this unfold.
Love your ideas and what about some pattern something like a plaid shirt collar under one of the sweaters, or even better a fair isle cowl ( like on one of the children’s patterns you showed) or a colourwork hat. You do have a lot of solids so could be good to augment those, you could use some of the leftovers!
Sounds like you've thought it through and planned it out with plenty of time to knit them! can't wait to see your collection of sweaters! Love that you keep your kiddos private
Nailed it!! I love all your patterns and colors - and I would so RUN (not walk) away from that scratchy yarn!!! Life is just too short to wear scratchy wool 😂 and your Stria ROCKS!!! Another great video - I love how you mix them up and do more than just FOs & wips & acquisitions, oh my!! ❤
Well, hmmm, so many ideas for a fun photo project!! I liked the kids’ colorwork sweater-would love to see that (also saves you one make). Also I hope you’ll wear a shawl or cowl too. Maybe a few hats to round out the warm fall earthy vibes. What about one stripey sweater or a skirt? Since you have some already that could work (for you and several kids, I think you said), I’d start with others so you don’t run out of time or get stressed. If you have extra time, then knit to replace those already-made items. Your color palette is well-honed so I don’t think there’s any worry-everything will go together just beautifully. 😊
About your aran weight yarn problem for your own sweater, I thought about Drops air or the equivalent at Camarose (Snefnug?) for maximum softness. On the plus side, the range of colors is amazing ! Hope you find your perfect match. Ps. I love your inspiration videos, always a lot of depth in your thought process.
I love the idea of planning out knits for a family photo. Lettlopi and I even think Rauma Vams is too rustic for you because you are in a warmer climate. The sort of “rule of thumb” if you will, is the warmer the temp the scratchier the wool will be, at least with 100% nsw wool.
Of course the sweater You are wearing now blends with those other sweaters….just saying if time is short…saw the sneak peak of Andreas sweater. Look forward to your color choices
For that impossible to pronounce Aran weight pullover that I am now also obsessed with, have you considered Arranmore by Fibre Co? It has that rustic "old world" look, is great to knit, and softens to a "comfy old sweatshirt" softness with wet blocking. Best of all, it wears like cast iron. My Jameson jumper (pullover sweater) is one of my "grab & go" staples, and after all these years, it still looks like new.
This was such an interesting podcast. My family wants to do a photo shoot this fall and the ideas of how you are planning the colors and garments was informative and inspiring. Hope you can get those knits done! The photo is going to look awesome no matter what you wear. 😊
You are so inspiring thank you . Have you considered a knitted dress or skirt for one of your daughters? The Little Magnolia by Camila Vad is a quick knit if you start running out of time. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your family.
Kaci, I love your idea for your family photo! It’s going to be beautiful. Your children’s knits are wonderful! You’ve inspired me to put that on my to-do list for this year. I knit the Fridag Vest for my adult daughter. I did not use the suggested yarn, but a light worsted acrylic held double - turned out great (after frogging the first one and re-knitting it to fit better, that is. Lol). Quick knit and easy-to-follow pattern
Rauma Vams is a Norske wool and is about as rustic as its regular Rauma finulgarn line. It’s not as rustic as Lettlopi. The reason why it is considered “sturdy” is because it was created at first, for accessories. Vams is a thick yarn with a gauge of 16-14 m on 5-6 needles. I’ve knit a couple of turtleneck slipovers with this yarn and it is quite soft after soaking and blocking. I don’t have a problem with it around my neck and I like a snug fit. So, if Lettlopi doesn’t bother you, this won’t. However, the best way is to purchase a ball of it and knit up a practice tube and wear it as a turtleneck for yourself. If it’s compatible with your skin, then order more. I’ve been rubbing a ball of it back and forth against the skin of my neck for a few minutes without a problem. Have fun knitting and I love your podcasts!
Hi Kaci, I really enjoyed this video and your discussion of coordinating colors in a group photo, and also I love all of the pattern options you are considering . I was stuck by how the colors of the yarns you were showing us match all of the colors around you that we see in your videos , like the background color of the wall, the things you hang on it and other things you surround yourself with (the exception being that you chose dark blue for the sweater, rather than the dark green of the plants LOL!) You will all looking stunning in those warm and earthy tones.
Okay, my $0.02 is that if you don't like the feel of Lettlopi against your skin then Vams is going to be a very poor choice. I can, and do, wear Lettlopi against my skin with no issues. I made an Easy V by Caitlin Hunter using Vams and it is so borderline for me. I generally layer and even layering I can feel the prickles. Honestly Vams would make an amazing heirloom piece and wear better than iron, it just won't be the most amazingly comfortable sweater 😂 Really enjoyed this episode!
I find Rauma’s Vams far too scratchy to use in a turtleneck sweater, so I would advise against it. I’d be happy to send you a skein of scraps in deep green from a vest that I made myself, if I’d like to feel for yourself. The great thing about many of Rauma’s yarns, though, is a gigantic colourchart! 🌈🤩
I have two boys and I really know what do you mean by storm sweater for a boy because I really want to do that for my kids since I knitted Ingrid sweater for my husband. As much as I like the Ingrid sweater and storm sweater but I think it’s boyish. And not suitable for feminine woman. I really like the sweater with the three strands held together. I’m really excited to see the progress for that sweater.
In regards to Rauma Vams yarn, the girls (Corrine and Maggie) on the Woolly Thistle have knitted with it and could probably give you an opinion about the yarn.
Kacie (so sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly), I have to thank you because you just helped me solve a yarn choice problem! I'm gathering supplies to knit the Friday Tee from Petit Knit (my first top down sweater, eek!), but have had a hard time settling on a color palette. When I saw you in your Stria Cardigan win the neutral base with colorful stripes, I was so inspired. Thank you so much for your help and love the podcast!
love all your colors choices and patterns. I have made a pair of socks out of the vams and it is very rustic I would not advise you to use it would not buy again. I like a little rustic but not that rustic for sure. I like a ramboulet yarn inrecently made a cowl from mountain meadow wool and it was their cody sport loved the yarn it is a ramboulet so good luck 😊and happy knitting.
The Rauma Vams yarn isn’t that scratchy but I would imagine it would be kinds scratchy on the neck. It’s very warm. I would compare it to Peer Gynt if Peer Gynt was thicker and with more air in it and a tad more rustic. It’s used a lot for felting, like felted mittens - which makes for amazing mittens btw🤌🏼
I love that you don't share anything about your kids! Not every KnitTuber shows that nuch respect for their kids. I support you 100%! (And i also generally love your aesthetic, you have such an eye for colour❤)
I love your colour palette and project ideas. Though I will say that I was a bit surprised at the idea of a cream cardigan for your son. I think it will look amazing, but I wouldn’t trust any of my kids near such a light colour. Perhaps your children are more civilized than mine though 😂 I especially like your choices for you and your husband and that you will both be wearing cables.
I think Rauma Vams compares more to Plotulopi than Lettlopi. And I think it’s less scratchy that plotulopi, but still quite rustic. I love rustic wool, but wouldn’t knit a turtle neck sweater in Vams for myself (so i would have modified the fridagsgenser to a crew neck)
Kaci-about your merch: even though the graphic is on Canva, as long as you're not using a ready made template from Canva, I think you can still use an element for commercial use without getting dinged with copyright. Could it be “for the love of fiber” that's setting it off?
Hi Kaci I wouldn't recommend Rauma Vams for an "indoor jumper". I am not particularly sensitive to wool either. I have made an outdoor sweater with a rollneck using Rauma vams and its really thick and warm perfect for winter walks or being outside in the garden but I definitely wouldnt be able to wear it inside.( maybe as a cardigan ) hope this helps
I just finished my Colette pullover this morning and I will say to pay close attention to the sizing. There's not a size that fits my upper chest (42 in) with any amount of recommended ease, which is so surprising as I've never had a problem with Sari's patterns before. It seems like they're a whole size missing between 4 and 5. I went for plain stockinette on the sleeves and that was such a nice break from the cables.
Just a fun idea to pitch for the Colette pullover, why not do the main base with the cables in the nutty brown and the eyelets in the cream as stripes? I’m not sure how the two fabrics would be together since they’re different bases, but the two colors just look so lovely and complementary together 🥰
Rauma is defenstely not soft I just got one ball for outer garment so rejecting this as it will be next to my neck garment but I do not! Want this next to my skin
Some things to also consider in your pictures: 1) does the color look good on the person in addition to the colors looking good together, 2) if everyone is in textured/colorwork/cables it may be too busy and 3) does the picture emphasize the people and not just look like a sweater advertisement? I know you love sweaters but the point of a family picture is the family.
Stunning colour combo you have gathered. Love your aesthetic Kaci. Beautiful pattern choices too. I can't wait to see all your garments. I fully support you keeping your children's lives totally private. 🥰

i really liked hearing your approach to planning out the colour combinations and composition of the photo. very useful!!
Kids sweaters are so fun and fast
Sweet sweet baby knits ❤
Kaci, you look absolutely gorgeous in this cardigan especially with the linen trousers!
Oh thank you!
Gorgeous palate!!!! 🧡💙🤍🤎
I love seeing your baby knits! I'm expecting my first in a couple months and definitely inspired 💕
Awww congratulations
I love this plan of yours Kaci! Your colour palettes look classic and beautiful!
I find that members of my family are only willing to wear certain knits. As much as they compliment me on sweaters I knits I find that they all prefer specific accessories. To get a great photo of you all in your knits will be such a lovely memory.
Thank you 😊

I love all the color stories you have planned! Whatever you choose will look great 😊
Kaci, your child knits are incredible! Your knitting skills are off the scale!!!
Thank you so much!

I'm currently knitting the Storm Sweater by Petite Knit in a cream colour and it's so fun and absolutely beautiful!
this was such a fun video concept and your family pictures will look beautiful and harmonious I‘m sure 🧡
I really, really, really enjoyed this episode! It was really interesting to see how you pulled the colors together and your thought process on this. I think your color palette and your choices of sweaters was really great. I can't wait to see this unfold.

Lovely colour combo….maybe a funky knitted dress for your little girl which would bring the eye down through the photo too.
Great idea!!
Thank for showing the fridag sweater- It checks my boxes 😊

I like your Stria Cardigan. I can't wait to see the family's sweaters!
Also, I love yoyr Stria cardi and your outfit! 👌🏻
Really enjoy all of your videos. You have so much yarn to choose from would love to peak into your stash. Would you consider sharing your yarn stash?
Great video, full of inspiration, love your choices! Big fan of Jessica McDonald's designs. Thank you for sharing your journey

Of course the sweater
You are wearing now blends with those other sweaters….just saying if time is short…saw the sneak peak of Andreas sweater. Look forward to your color choices
This would be a fun KAL. I should totally do a family of knits this year.

I really appreciate that you keep your kids out of your public platform. Though I have to say, as a mother myself I am very curious 😂
The child storm sweater is adorable! ( I think you should make one)
We don't toke 😂😂😂😂😂 that cracked me up so hard
Always enjoy your podcasts Kaci. So much fun planning and knitting for your family.
Thank you so much!
It's going to be an epic card! That 80's tracksuit photo, omg! 🤣

Love seeing some ideas for children’s knits :)
I’m currently knitting the storm sweater junior in Peer Gynt, colour Marsipan.
Oooooo it seems like it’s such a fun knit
@@YoungfolkKnits it is!!
Awwww❤ your little kiddie clothes are adorable 🥰😍
Thank you ❤❤❤❤
Wow, those colors look amazing together! It's a tough one for me between the last (grimy green) and the powder blue! Ooooh!
I totally agree! I love them both

Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Kacie (so sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly), I have to thank you because you just helped me solve a yarn choice problem! You could consider Rauma Fivel instead of Vams. It is a LOT softer but it is a little bit thinner so you would hav to do the math 😀
