    Great job with awesome results. Im a fan of Tamiyas Super GT bodies as well and worked on a few - notably the Autech GTR. What a decal beast that was. Patience and that heat gun are absolutey key. Experience with applying and stretching automotive wraps are a plus. These things are no joke but the outcome is totally worth it.

      Thanks for the great comment. Glad you liked it. It's a great looking kit. Certainly a little patience required here along with some extra heat. There's a few challenging decals here. Decal burnout comes standard with these kits! You've got to pace yourself! ATB Darren 👍

      tedious as it seems, i have been thinking of masking off the insides of the light lenses before spraying them black and adding some lights

    • @totallytamiya
      @totallytamiya  Год назад +1

      @@Bobblyfett I think that's an excellent idea. I'd like to see that. It's something I'd considered myself. One thing I'd definitely do differently is spray on the black side decals, especially where the doors meet the skirts. Enjoy the build and thanks for the great comments and feedback. ATB Darren 😁👍

      @@totallytamiya Thanks Darren.tt02 built and upgraded to a drift spec. shells all cut out and masking for the black paint. maybe paint just the flat part of the sideskirts black? also thinking of painting the cunards black or orange maybe.

      @@Bobblyfett Sounds good to me! Definitely recommend spraying the flat section of skirts in black, the kit decals for this section are a little skimpy. I think the orange would look good up front if you intend to use the kit decals. Go for it! ATB Darren 👍

      Hi, thanks for taking a look and leaving a great comment. The painting of this one wasn't too difficult. Masking off was probably the most time consuming bit. You certainly do need a little patience with it, especially the decals. Decal fatigue comes as standard with this kit! 😂 ATB Darren 👍

    oe nice, seeing this my plan of painting the castrol livery in to my 97" celica GT-Four body seems slightly less crazy. (never tried painting a livery strait in to the paintjob but since the stickers that come with the 3rd party body are kinda janky...only real solution to end up with something I'm proud of rather then...well I tried but the stickers arent quite the right scale so yea :( )

    Great work! Im doing my first Tamiya RC. A bit of paint overpsray occured with the PS paints. Plus Finding it hard to accurately place the decals. Did you use a paint to touch up missing gaps etc? If so what piant did you use?

    • @totallytamiya
      @totallytamiya  Год назад +1

      Hi Colin, thanks for the great comment. You can deal with PS overspray with some Tamiya polycarbonate cleaner. Use cotton buds to apply gently until the overspray is gone. Mask up again and spray the affected area. Try flexible masking tape, make sure you apply plenty of pressure to tape, paying particular attention to the edges. I'll hopefully get around to doing a tutorial for decals. Take your time and above all else have fun and enjoy. What kit did you decide to build first? ATB Darren 👍

      @@totallytamiya I’m making the Tamiya 1/10 TT-02 Toyota GAZOO Racing WRT/GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid Electric RC Rally Car Kit.
      I was wondering what paint one could use to brush on as touch ups?

    • @totallytamiya
      @totallytamiya  Год назад +1

      That's quite a body kit for your first build! Those decals will present a challenge if you're not used to them. If you're spraying from cans you'll need to decant some PS into a container. Lots of great videos on RUclips for decanting. When paint has settled use a small brush to apply. I find the best thing to do is pool PS rather than brush it. With small areas to correct you won't see brush strokes if you pool the paint. Let it dry between a number of coats. You can then back it all with black, silver or white depending on body colour and you'll never know you made a correction. Hope that helps. ATB Darren 👍
