I recently got a Switch and was looking forward playing some new Advanced Wars. Then I found out there hasnt been a new game since 2007. Wargroove is arriving just at the right time.

You actually can save and continue during a match in progress in the campaign. Just hit the "a" button on your switch controller, then select mission, then press exit. The next time you come back to playing, the game will offer you to pick up where you left off.
I would like to say you can rate fan maps but the option is hidden, the devs show it off in the Jan 23 twitch stream, it is an upvote down vote system so really simple.
For some weird reason, there is no zoom-in-option, when playing in TV-mode on Switch. Given how small important numbers etc can get on your average TV-screen, as well as a large portion of the screen not being used, it really makes me wonder why the zoomed-in-view(which is used by default in handheld-mode) wasn't the default anyway. Give me an option to zoom-in in TV-mode in future patches, for christ sake!
update : they added the save checkpoint button. but if you ever re load your checkpoint, you wont be able to get s rank on that map until you restart mission
This a weird review. Lengthy campaign, arcade and puzzle mode, an impressive multiplayer suite and a map/campaign editor, etc. and aside from the campaign levels being too long, there doesn't seem to be any other negatives. But it only receives an 8.5? Not a bad score mind you, just a bit odd given how glowing the review is.
People are weird with the 10 point scale. People act like the best of the best games should only ever get 9 and nothing should ever get a 10. So by that very odd outlook 8.5 is an amazingscore.
The AI in wargroove do have problems tho, often times they charge their hero in alone and expect to win. It may be because I'm only on act 2, but some missions I've found easy since the AI seem to not care about how their commander is doing.
The AI definitely has trouble managing their commanders, but It's also a lot less abusable than in advanced wars. Like, you can't place your knight 6 squares away from the max move of an enemy unit so that you can crit them next turn. The ai plays around you're potential moves... except ofc when they don't and they just suicide all their units into you...
Looks like Advance Wars which is awesome, and made by people behid Starbound. and it's also on PC, Yes. i need this now, glad Metro Exodus not coming to steam now, i can buy this instead.
It should have a mid-game save system like Codename:Steam has. Once you save, the game automatically quits. And once you load that save, it's automatically removed
Actually this is a great observation. You need to be able to undo moves in this game, it's very easy to make mistakes sometimes. I miss the whole 2 units joining up to form a stronger combined one too. Enemy AI in general and how they ignore the fog of war rules is another bad point.

The one animation I really recall is when you bomb infantry unites with the bomber. I know the game had tank units, too, but I forget what else it had. EDIT: I think I found it. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's a game called Conflict for the NES.
I can't speak for other systems but given that this is heavily based on a Nintendo property, I feel this is where the game is intended for. Regarding the saving during a mission issue, the Switch at the very least has its sleep mode for a workaround?
It does save mid mission if you just exit the map. The reviewer hasn't even tested it and makes false statements. You cannot however fail and simply load again, you have to start the map again from beginning if you do lose.
To be fair, the game should really tell you it saves when you select the 'exit' option from a battle. Even something like having it say 'Save & Exit' would alleviate potential concerns.
I was excited for this game, and then when it came out I watched gameplay of it and it looked boring AF. I think more mechanics or more troop types need to be added to make it more interesting. And, IT NEEDS LEVELING!!!!
Games fun, bought it because I like Chucklefish games and I usually hate indies “sorry”! Playing it over kh3 lol 😂! It’s tough if you crank up the difficulty but I love learning! Anybody playing on 200% doesn’t feel cheap like hard xcom

8,5 is a pretty glowing score. A lot of things can be without faults and still not be a 10. Without faults is not necessarily equal to Amazing.

Brian Dubya Nothing should get a ten out of ten because there is no perfect game. Every game has flaws.
IGN reviews are only useful to get a glimpse how of a game plays in real time and the graphics, i usually mute the commentary.
