    I've lived in London, and Alabama, USA. I miss the shit out of the island. I thought it was boring when I lived there, but want to go back one day. Appreciate it while you can.

    I dont understand it when people say it is boring on the Isle of Wight. Try growing up in Hackney or some other concrete jungle in a tower block. There is plenty to do here and a lot of it is free like the walks and beaches. There are festivals in the summer too. There might not be a raving nightlife but this is the country not a city so how is it different to any country area anywhere?? Life is what you make of it,

    • @flickiow24
      @flickiow24 6 лет назад +2

      life is about living not just existing amoungst old people and farmer fields

    • @AidenLikesPancakes
      @AidenLikesPancakes 6 лет назад +4

      Farmer fields, there is only a few here, there are tons of busy places to live on the island if you hate the countryside, and some people like to live that way, I hate living in the countryside but as I’ve lived on the island most my life I haven’t experienced a busy town in a while so I forgot what it was like. And I like it here, I mean your entitled to your opinion but I like it here and it’s nice, I mean the island has a lot of flaws but when you have lived there for over 10 years, you grow to love the island.

    • @flickiow24

      im sorry but the place is crap unless you are old and enjoy walks and fishing , i lived there for 25 years then moved to worthing and so much more to do you could go out every night and it woul be busy iow had limited jobs hal the places to eat out are dead mond to fri same faces eveywhere no realy music scene or art scene crap shops litrally nothing going for it in terms of life go brighton for a week and you woud see the difference in life and things to do

    I haven't gone back to the island for ages. I absolutely agree with all you're saying. Sadly getting off the island is not always the solution. Many people believe that going to the mainland will ensure their future but the situation is not much better. I actually moved to Spain where things are even worse but we have a lot of sun :) hope to go back someday, just for holidays

    Okay I know exactly what you mean 100 percent. Time to grow and live and find out more about the world. You will return when you are older. I have been off the island for over 40 years. I grew up in ventnor and I am going to visit this year and see my aunt and cousins. Looking forward to it as a adult. Best of luck to you ❤️ enjoy life experience it with both hands but deep down in your heart there is no place like home you'll see.

    Things I liked when living on the Isle of Wight;1. Friends - everybody knows each other which helps some ppl to make friends.Things I disliked about the Isle of Wight;1. Lack of mainland access. I'd love to rent a digger and dig that fixed link tunnel myself.2. Road conditions. Ever wondered why the buses rattle so much? It's down to the state of the roads, as most modern buses are built for cities. When I moved to the mainland I I found that when driving I could actually see a good reflection in the cars mirrors as opposed to seeing a blurry image like you often did on the island.

      hstclass43 Yeah a tunnel i wouldn't mind going from Iow to mainland. But a bridge is just a no no.

    Hi Jade. I'm an islander myself and agree with many of the points you've made. I left the island in April, went to the USA for 2.5 months, went back for two weeks, went to Manchester for a month and now I've been for a month where you are... in Southampton. How are finding living over here? I see you made this video just over two years ago and hope you feel settled here. I must admit that the atmosphere when around people is far more pleasant here than back at home and I'm a lot happier too. Everything where I went on the island where there were people around, the atmosphere was always toxic and with that feeling of being unwelcome and dragged down. Just like you mention, there are good points too about the island and the scenery and slow pace is definitely better, but these days I would recommend it for a visit but nothing more. Thanks for sharing a decent video. I may put one up myself about the island.

    it is tough for inbetweeners. I used to live in the Fens and it was the same, lovely little villages, low crime, safe etc. etc.. which is all fine if you have very young kids or you're a pensioner... thank god work took me to Milton Keynes during my kids in-between years - loads to do, fairly central in the UK, busy city life, main line rail station, Two motorway junctions, easy reach of London, Birmingham, Oxford, Cambridge and still low-rise and green. True it has some crappy bits and a joke reputation but it is a great place for anyone from about 10 to retirement. I love it here but I plan to move on when I retire. Lived on the IoW when I was 20-25 (work took me there - Dodnor estate, electronics) and I had a generally great time but the UK is a different place 30 years on and youngsters need something to do beyond clustering down the shops or at the bus shelter. It was never easy being 16-26 but I think it is a really tough period in history to be that age now. When you move away, plan well, be careful and cautious and you'll do OK.

    i can see how the bright lights of the main land may seem attractive and anonomity, where nobody knows or cares who you are, but also high crime rate, very busy place, very noisy, i love the isle of wight for holidays, not sure if id want to live there all the time, but maybe when i retire, i might move there

    Do you realise the island isn't as innocent as you think? The underworld on that island is astonishing and I'm not just talking about the drugs. There are more freemasons on that island per person than anywhere else in the UK.
