In the early 90’s Chet tutored guitar students at Brookhaven College in Dallas. He also performed live at their auditorium. I was in the front row and he invited audience members to meet him the next day. Few people showed up so I got to hang with him for several hours, what a great guy.
So this video dates back to the early 90's? I was thinking late 70's or 80's. What a gem though! Your opportunity to meet him and just hang around with him was such a blessing! Thank you for sharing your story and this video to the world! My father was a huge Chet Atkins fan - just seeing him in his prime brings my father back to me - sweet memories...
I think it's 1986 based on online sources. I was wondering the year too. The young people's jeans look post-1970s stovepipe. Unless, of course, you were a late 70s punk with stovepipe jeans. But I can't see Chet doing The Pistols or The Buzzcocks. hehe (Oh, and before anyone gets loco, "Buzzcocks" means good guy in Northern England slang.)
Genius. The best beginner guitar lesson I have ever seen, beginning with In Tunisia! which if you dressed it up just a little more you could put it on an album and no one would know it was an exercise. So good to demonstrate and experience rather than to give a bunch of dry dead theory as an introduction.
Hello, I’m a beginning guitar player. I’m 65 years old just retired four years ago. They want to learn to play guitar. I do it on my own because the cost of getting lessons. Hopefully you have more videos on someone like me and my age they’re beginners thank you.
Hey brother,I just retired with a bad heart. My lawyer got me right in two years later. How are things progressing?? Are you a solo artist or a in a group
I wish you have a transcription book of this - I only need the notes not the tabs. That's beautifully easy with the chord melody at the beginning of this video - Thank you very much for posting your videos.
I think just how great a guitarist chat Atkins was is possibly lost on this generation. He could literally play every style of American music to perfection. And what’s wonderful about this video is it’s not a masterclass. It’s not some kind of high-level technical calculus. It’s about playing and enjoying music together, fantastic
Absolutely! I agree. Anything can become overly complicated, but music is a gift from the Lord. Therefore, it was meant to be enjoyed. Thx for stopping by!

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing this.
Brookhaven? Whaaaa? That’s insane!
Guitar teacher here. This is fantastic, thank you for posting!
I wonder where those two might be by now, having learned from and played with one of the greatest guitarists!
My absolute favorite Guitar player and Gentleman. Thank you Chet

Yes, absolutely! Chet was first class!
Yeah it feels like some guitar teacher RUclips channels could take note from his teaching style.
Awesome!!

Yes
I Agree with all.
A great tutorial.
This video was worth it just to watch Chester's hands
Wow, besides being a fantastic guitar player, he is also incredible at teaching!
Great
If i can just be able to play guitar like Chet Atkins and Eddie Van Halen then that would just be awesome.
Quite jolly ❤❤
Looks like 1983 or so, like all those REH videos.
cool
Here kids try this: *shreds licks with fingerstyle picking*
“I lost my poor meatball, when somebody sneezed……”
Excellent! What year was this?
If I understand correctly, the year was 1986.
Any idea when this was done? Great relaxed and friendly pace.
I believe this was released in 1986.
Il mejo
I can't imagine any beginner keeping up with this. I'd have given up after five minutes.
I'm sorry it seems difficult for some. I plan to do some real beginner videos for learning guitar very soon.
It's kinda beginner/intermediate. It was a VHS as well so you can rewind it all you wanted
I would like to know what happened to those two students. It’s now 2024 .
Whats name is the first song their play?
The first tune they play together is fun, little number called, "Intunesia." It's a great way to have fun while tuning up.
@@tommyausburn I guess it was Indonesia
Tabs??
Sorry, no tabs.
Nice guitars
George Bush jnr 😅
