I feel silly asking-- the pocket, is there a slit in the dress where you can reach through and get what you need out of the pouch? I know I could research but why not ask someone possibly more savvy about 1800s than Google. :)
The crinoline and the bright-red skirt are gorgeous for a holiday party, but I also love the updo you went for! Gives off a well-read bluestocking sort of vibe.
In a modern setting yes bc you don't really fit through doors but the actual wearing isn't hard. That's what the corset is for it takes the weight of the garments
I love the seaman's diary entry I saw somewhere online, which said how surprised they were to return from some time at sea to find that women had got a lot more curvy on the lower half - only to realise later that it was just fashion.
Love this! My only query is why is the pocket under the dress?? Wouldn’t you need it to be accessible? Would you pull the dress up to get something out? Is this for when you’re not wearing the dress on top like at home or such? LOVE this content though!
Think I've seen you on RUclips, love the victorian era
You are very lucky, this is a gorgeous dress
Sooo pretty!! 😍😍

Yep there are slits 😊
your dress is gorgeous, where did you buy it?
I made it! If you are interested I have videos on making the various pieces up on my channel 😊
@@sewthroughtime oh, thank you very much! ❤️
So beautiful! Wish this fashion would come back! 😊
Modern house sizes and especially doorways don't accommodate this style very well 😅🤣
Still would be a lot of fun 😍😂

Very, very realistic. Is it hard to wear it ?

@@sewthroughtime is it really only about the doors ? How many hours, can you wear it ? You must tired after hours or two, or not ?
The corset carries the weight not my body so I can easily wear a dress like this all day
I really want to find like more traditional every day clothes from this era
depends on which class, this is pretty typical for middle or upper class

Ok, but seriously how did they go to the bathroom?
Music name?
My apologies I gotta ask..is it difficult to use the loo in the crinoline cage? I wouldn't even know where to begin😅
A full explanation of the process is coming either at the end of this month or early September depending how a few other projects go
Do garters really hold the stockings up?
Yes! 😊
This is stunning! That red is chef’s kiss ❤
Beautiful❤❤,,but Isnt it heavy?
That's literally what the corset is for. If you'd like to know more about it the long format video on why women wore corsets goes through it 😊
I love it
why dont people ever wind up their antique clocks? doesnt that hurt the mechanism overtime?
This one doesn't even have all it's parts 😏
@@sewthroughtime like the pendulum or winding key or sumn but eh its just an opinion hope you can respond soon lololol
Banheiro ?? Como

Pinico! Geralmente os culotes eram abertos no meio.
Could you possibly go in depth on what the petticoat layers are called? I’m looking for ones like that but I can’t find them
This reminds me of the 2nd disney pocahontas movie
Ahora asi se visten las quinceañera.

There's a slit on the side of the dress to access the pocket. Having it tied to the waist it doesn't "pull" or deform the skirt when it's full.
how do you use the pocket if its under another layer? im really curious
Slits in the skirt
How did they go to the bathroom?
You just pull the crinoline and skirts up and pee in the pot. The crinoline is collapsible. Plus the drawers have no crotch.
At least they had pockets.😄
But not rights 😞
